  2. Wow I've been gone awhile

  3. While you bring up very valid points, the fact of the matter is that a potential for powergaming still exists, you never notice the person who is a T5 magic user initiate PvP when he's up against three armored men. PvP itself, in my opinion, is fine with non-mages (when used in moderation, of course), but when you bring magic users into the mix everything becomes tilted towards the side of the PvP'ers and not to mention the fact that making PvP default undermines the entire combat magic system, most evocation would be pointless as would Necromancy because when they start using their mist you can just say "PvP default". And not only that but it seems to me a lot of people are taking their OOC anger into character and using PvP as a way to steal the person's goods and let themselves let out anger which, correct me if I'm wrong, is against the rules.
  4. Also by pointing out what I do in roleplay is just ignoring the fact that PvP becomes an issue when mages are involved, or when it is used because you know you'll automatically win. If you rather we have no regulation for it that's fine, but when a huge group of people come in to a battle strictly for the purpose of knowing that they'll win and be able to take the other person's stuff is powergaming, plain and simple.
  5. If we're going to be discussing what people do in the city, I've also seen Guard being corrupt and killing people just because they feel like it. And I understand that there will be points in time when you have to be attacked and take the beatings, but I don't believe that makes it okay for someone to see that you'd have the advantage in an RP fight and then switch to PvP. If everyone has to take beatings once and awhile then how come only a select few individuals are actually taking the fights?
  6. That still doesn't stop some of the problems, you can still be confronted by three armored people, they demand PvP and you're done. And telling someone to not RP a character of their choice isn't fair. I could just as easily say "Don't worship the Creator in Abresi" for the same effect, everyone has a right to RP where they please with the character of their choice with at least a decent chance of defending themselves. In an attempt to stop PG in RP they created PG in PvP; it should be more regulated.
  7. That's just it though what if you don't start the conflict? What if someone else starts the conflict? This isn't constructive criticism, and the server is designed for fun RP and gameplay, by adding PvP that just takes the fun out of it because so many people abuse it. Minor PvP is fine, but when it dominates in a server designed for RP then it just takes the point of the server away, not to mention that it completely undermines the system of magics set up designed for combat.
  8. Yeah but there should at least be some form of rule system so people don't powergame and make the LotC experience unenjoyable for everyone else who wants to play
  9. So play smart? How do you play smart? People just randomly walk up to me and try to start stuff and attack me. The guards just don't like me in general for no reason so they attack me. And Magic is my only defense. Once again constructive criticism
  10. While I'd love to do that, I've made friends in Abresi, I have no idea why you are going about your criticism this way. None of it is constructive. Your arguments have stated for me to not ask for it (which never occurs), break laws which would cause you to get arrested and start even more fights I'm trying to prevent, and to go play somewhere else. Please give me constructive criticism.
  11. A lot of people would kill people for no reason, have you been to Abresi? Out of all the times I've ever had combat this last month, they were in Abresi and a majority of them ended up in PvP because I started using magic, and how can you get armor and a weapon when it's banned in the city? That would cause more PvP fights.
  12. And are you saying that if someone rp'ly tries to attack and rob me that I should just let them do it? If I ran up to your character would you do that? No, I feel pretty secure in saying that you'd retaliate too, because it isn't like most people to just let themselves be attacked, at least, not from any of the characters I've seen.
  13. I've had frequent occasions where people will initiate an rp fight with me and then, seeing that I have magic, emote striking me with their weapon then say "PvP default". That isn't fair. And if I were to report that the number of times it's happened, I'd have so many VAT reports to deal with that it wouldn't even end up being worth it because they'd just get off scott-free and then take their ooc anger out on the character in game, which is a recurring theme for almost everyone who plays LotC
  14. It isn't even so much the people that let you SS either, it gets annoying when someone comes up with two other people to fight you when you're unarmed, and they attack you unprovoked and then steal all of your stuff. It just gets irritating and I'm sure others feel the same way.
  15. You can't because "PvP default" gets thrown around and they will refuse to do combat any other way, I have heard complaints about this from other people before
