  1. Well, I have spoken to an Arch Druid and two guides. They have not heard of cursing in elvish drawing the attention of ill-meaning aspects, which you clearly state several times here. So I guess this is a question for the lore masters and elvish language experts. What does it mean RPly to have the attention of ill meaning aspects from cursing in elvish?

  2. This is an amazing resource. I've barely managed to memorize a few words, but it's definitely interesting.

I would like to see more familial words added, though. You have words for mother and father, but not sister or brother or son or daughter, or even child. I may have to sit and see if I can come up with some words for them and give them to you.

For clarification: When you say cursing in elvish draws the attention if negative aspects, what exactly does that mean IC? ( I know what the aspects are ) Bad luck? Poltergeist-like activity?

  3. I could say the very same!

Edit: Also, just read your application.

Lovely ^^ Hope you get accepted!

    Nice!

Thanks. It shouldn't be too much longer. They are down to four applications.

Salutations and welcome to the fiesta.

I already know for a fact you'd be vunderbar addition to our ever-growing server having nine years of forum RP under your belt.

Though if you're coming from a forum RP environment, I'm sure you'd agree with me that MineCraft's chat box can be quite limiting.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1540451-152-tabbychat-v1702-chat-tabs-and-more-for-multiplayer-now-forge-loadable/

Even with just one year's worth of experience in forum RP I still find the need to use that mod. Helps triple your chat box, though by doing some sneaky maneuvering (and cheat codes), you can extend it out to five entries worth of continuous text.

But anywho, welcome to the party and don't forgot to try the nachos.

Thanks, I was looking for a mod like that. Minecraft definitely is a bit limiting in that respect.

Welcome to the server! I would suggest the new player tutorials, but seeing as you have nine years of forum rp I highly doubt you need to check that out. But you should check out the Roleplay forum, and some other tutorials that don't have to do with beginners!

Thanks. I may have plenty of forum experience, but I suspect RPing in minecraft is a bit of a different beast. It'll definitely be interesting.
  4. Hello! I am a 24 year old recent Computer Science grad. I've been RPing in a forum based environment for nine years now, and I am in the process of applying for the server. I hope I get to join in soon ^-^

  5. Out-Of-Character Information
Please fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate.

    Minecraft Account Name: Tristanm1
    How old are you?: 24
    Time-Zone: Pacific Standard Time
Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: yes
What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: 9 years of message board based roleplay. Primarily Gaia Online. Some D&D and other message boards are sprinkled in that time.
How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: I came across it on Google, looking for a Minecraft roleplay server.
Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: None.
Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): Link
Have you read the Elven lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes I have, though the most Wood Elf lore seems to be Dryad lore. I've incorporated that at least.

    Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Taking the role of a fictional character and becoming a part of the story of the world through them. It is about being that character in that world.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is the act of using out of character knowledge in character. This is information your character should not know or be able to discern. For instance, if two people are talking in a location where your character shouldn't be able to hear them or read their lips (if they know lip reading) then your character can't act on any information revealed by that conversation.
Power-emoting: I have not heard this term before, but then I come from message board based roleplay background, not a gaming one. From what I understand, emoting is how one expresses an action in game. As such, I'm willing to guess that power emoting is power playing, which is basically roleplaying a character in a manner that robs your RP partners of their own autonomy. Striking them without giving them input, making their character do things without their input, etc.
    In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

    Full Name: Leyun Taliamonn
    Current Age: 50
    Sub-race (if any): Wood Elf
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Leyun was raised primarily by her father. She barely remembers her mother, who left when she was only a couple years old. The most Leyun was able to ever get out of her father was that her mother had left to answer a deep longing. It didn't take much for Leyun to connect the dots.

With only her father to raise her, Leyun spent much of that time in the forest. From playing as a child to ranging out and camping for several days at a time when she was older. It's not like she spent all of her time out in the wild. She got a proper education, after all, but when she could, she got away. Recently, she has been considering going and speaking with the druids, maybe joining them if they would take her.
Ambitions for the Future: Leyun, feeling particularly close to nature, seeks to join the druids, if they would have her.
Personality: Leyun enjoys having friends, but prefers to enjoy them away from the hustle and bustle of life. If she can get them to spend time with her out in the forest, then that is time well spent. On some level, she hopes that by venturing out so often that she might eventually find her mother, though the truth is that if her mother did become a dryad, she could be anywhere in the world. She has some insecurity about her own decision making ability. The urge to leave and become a dryad could strike at any time in her life, and her mother had been unable to resist when it meant abandoning her own child. She worries that when the time comes, she might not be able to make a rational choice. Leyun tends to have a soft spot for children, and can be a bit of a pushover with them.
Skills: Having spent much of her time in the woods, she experienced with basic survival.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Leyun has a fairly average build for a Wood Elf, with dark brown eyes and skin the shade of cinnamon. Her hair is a dirty blonde, with traces of old green dye still clinging in. Her garb employs shades of green and brown. Natural colors that help her blend in when out in the forest.

Any other details you wish to share about your character:
Leyun has not yet felt the call of Dryad-ism. Whether or not she would listen is unclear.

    Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

    1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?

Answer: Leyun cautiously drew closer to the hushed sounds of other people. She wasn't aware of any one else out this far, and she wasn't sure what to expect. When she finally reached the scene, she saw something she hadn't expected. A group of elves were mocking a child. A child! Didn't these elves have any sense of how precious a child was? Of course, they were all high elves. This whole thing stunk of high elf purity. The child was a boy, and he looked like he was fully elf. If he wasn't fully high elf, then he had to have some other type of elf mixed in. Stepping out into the open, Leyun called out, "Karin'ayla, lliran. Is there a problem? I know these woods well. If you are lost, I can lead you out, if you would like."

The older elves attention quickly drew away from the child to the woman. "Karin'ayla. This is none of your business. We were just going to be on our way."

"You're not giving the boy a hard time, are you?" Leyun asked, glancing at the child who looked to be more than a little shaken up.

"We are just taking care of some Mali'aheral business. We'd appreciate it if you left us be, Mali'ame." One of the elves replied.

"Mmm, right. Let me guess. One of his parents isn't Mali'aheral, or is 'impure' so you were giving him a hard time." The looks on the older elves faces answered that. "Well, he can't exactly control his lineage, can he? He is just a child. Leave the kid alone."

The older elves seemed a little put off by that. Leyun knew what she was talking about, and knew that the boy's high elf parent was likely already punished for their impurity. There was little excuse to argue, it wasn't like this was worth fighting over. "Fine. Take the brat." One of the elves replied before the group left.

Approaching the boy. Leyun knelt down two his height before she spoke, "Hey there. Are you okay?"

"Y-yes ma'am." The boy replied, still looking somewhat nervous after that encounter.

"Well, you're safe now. I'll walk you home."

    2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer: As Leyun made her way back toward town with the elf child in tow, the pair had managed to reach a forest path just in time to see an old man fall over and spill his coin purse. Motioning for the boy to stay back, Leyun approached. "Sir? Are you alright?"

"Oh, dear." The old man replied, pulling himself up onto his knees with a little help from Leyun. "I must've caught my foot on a root."

The old man quickly began to scoop up the coins from his dropped coin purse, which Leyun helped the man recover. Once the coins were scooped back into the coin purse, and the old man was back on his feet, the man replied, "Thank you young lady. Here, take something for your trouble."

As the man handed Leyun a few gold coins, the woman replied, "It's no problem. Will you be alright?"

"Ah, yes, yes. It was just a root. I'll be fine. Thank you again." With that, the old man continued on his way. Leyun paused to motion to the elf child before she continued to lead him back toward town.

    3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer: The pair didn't travel too much further before reaching a clearing. Town wouldn't be too much further away, For now, though, a merchant was set up in the middle of the clearing they needed to pass through. As they got close, the elf boy was drawn to a table of goods that had been laid out. The merchant, meanwhile, went straight for Leyun. "Welcome! Welcome! Take a look around! We have just about anything you could want."

"I'm not really looking for anything, we're just passing through..." Leyun started, before the merchant interrupted.

"Nonsense! Just look at your son there." The merchant replied, motioning over to the elf boy.

The elf boy, for his part, had found a metal puzzle toy that he was trying to figure out how to take apart. "He's not..." Layun started to protest, but quickly gave in. The puzzle couldn't be too expensive, right? "How much for the toy?" Leyun asked, wanting to get out of here as quickly as she could.

"For the puzzle? I'd say about... five gold." The merchant commented.

"Five gold? For a few pieces of bent and interlocked metal? Please. One gold." Leyun replied, feeling like this guy was trying to take advantage of her.

"Okay, okay, four gold." The merchant replied shortly.

"What? Are you serious? Two gold." Leyun shot back. There wasn't much wiggle room left.

"I won't go any lower than three gold." The merchant replied, sounding final.

"Three gold it is." Leyun replied, pulling out a few of the coins the old man had given her. "Here you go."

"Thank you for your business. Have a nice day." The merchant replied, checking out the coins in his hands before returning to his seat.

With that out of the way, Leyun called over to the elf boy. "Come on, it's past time to get you home. Keep the puzzle." The elf boy was surprised, and quickly hurried over as they left.
