Definitions
In your own words
define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:
Role-playing: Adding
an imaginary, or sometimes implemented, twist that adds new elements of
teamwork, progressions, and in this case, gameplay. In role-playing you take on
a character and act as if you were them, with their own history and
experiences. In Lord of the Craft, you take on the character who you create,
and act as them in-game.
Meta-gaming: Using
information taken from anywhere outside the game and using it in the game. If
you see on a message board that your clan is getting attacked, and in the game
you build defenses without any other way of finding out you were getting
attacked, that would be a form of meta-gaming.
Power-emoting: A forced
action on another player that could be considered unfair, usually where the
victim player does not have time to react. In LOTC, if a human attacks an orc
without the orc getting any prior knowledge or warning, that would be a form of
power-emoting.
In-Character Information:
Complete the
following biography on your character:
Full Name: Lorem
Current Age: 102
Sub-race (if any):
Dark Elf
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Lorem himself remembers very little from
his childhood. At the young age of 43, he was attacked by members of the White
Rose, and lost all memory from his past, including his name, where he was born,
his age, and his family. Although he currently lives in the capital city of Leumalin,
he spends a large quantity of his time meditating in vast forests across Malinor,
and concentrating on perfecting the art of archery with some attempt to spark
memory from his past. However, very little has returned to him to this day.
After his many years of
meditation, Lorem has remembered his name, age, and how to communicate with
others. Through his returned ability to communicate, Lorem has learned from
High Princess Titania that his parents were at one time closer to fluent in the
ancient elven language than any elf has ever come before. He then contacted the
Highguard about any reports about his parents, but unfortunately they had none.
However, he has discovered they were looked up to as great teachers to the
elven race in the study of common pronunciation and advanced language. However,
ever since Lorem’s attack, his parents are nowhere to be found, and it is
unknown whether or not they are still alive.
Now over half a century later,
Lorem still looks to remember his early childhood. After decades of long
meditation, only world experience may bring back the Lost Life of Lorem.
Ambitions for the Future: To Remember his past, and find his parents.
Personality: Very odd, but intellectually gifted. Lorem’s meditation seems
to have given him guidance to assist other with their problems.
Skills: Excellent archer, gatherer, and is very patient and wise in
battle.

Lorem is a reliable and efficient worker that will take on any challenge.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be
answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____
1. As you walk through the
deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize
that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?
Answer: I may be calm and collected, but I still believe it is my job and
a sworn duty to protect others from harm. I notice a young elf, close to crying
on the ground. I carefully approach the young elf, interrupting the older elves
from further communication.
“Good day, young elf.
What seems to be troubling you?” I glance towards the older elves, making it apparent
that I do indeed possess a bow. The younger elf replies.
“Yes, I’m alright.” The young elf wimpers.
I look towards the group of older elves. “My sincerest apologies, however if
you don’t mind I would like to accompany this young elf home.”
The older elves just stand there, staring questionably. I reach for my bow, and
before my hand could even reach the grip, the older elves sprint away in fear.
“Come, young one. I
shall accompany you home.” Then young elf manages a smile across his face, and
leads me back to his home.
2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across
a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading
coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?
Answer: I instantly become very intrigued of the cause of this old man’s
fall. I examine the surrounding area for any possibilities of danger, and then
proceed to check if the old man is still in good health.
“Excuse me sir, are
you aware that you are on the ground?” No response. I was sure that would work.
I lean in and poke the old man a couple times. The fourth poke did the trick.
“WHOOZA, WHAT, HOW,
WHERE, WHEN, WHO???” Yells the surprised old man as he jumps from off the
ground. Once the old man has woken, I make sure his memory is still with him.
“Sir, could you tell
me your name?” It’s not a normal thing to do as soon as someone has woken up,
but perhaps after my accident it is simply a habit I have forced myself into.
“Yes, I am Gilderith
the Third, at your service.” The old man responds well and appears to be fully
functioning mentally.
“Greetings, for I am
called Lorem. Here, you just sit down. I’ll collect these coins for you.” I
then proceed to collect his coins, and make sure none were left behind. As soon
as all the coins are collected, I place them in his pouch.
“Why thank you, young
sir.” Says the old man with enthusiasm. I smile, and wonder to myself exactly
how old this man is.
“Of course. If I may,
I shall accompany you, so you don’t have another fall like that.”
“I would appreciate
that greatly. It isn’t too much fun to fall.” Says the old man, chuckling to
himself.
We then proceed to
walk back to his house, and the old man makes it back, safe and sound.
3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored
carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your
character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion
involved).
Answer: Through my
years of meditation, I have come to the conclusion that worldly possessions
mean truly very little in life. However, I humor the elven trader and allow him
to show me his wares. I closely study each of the items in order to determine
if any of them would be of use to me or my elven brethren.
“It seems you have a
fine collection of bows.” I tell the trader. I recently noticed the unfortunate
aging of my bow, and it would be best if I soon replaced it. As I have
accumulated much over the years of humble living, I wouldn’t mind sacrificing a
few minas for a good bow.
When the trader shows
me the finest of his bows, and discusses its fine job in both battle and
hunting, I am instantly intrigued. “This is the arrow-lander 9000: Perfect grip
for steady aim, and durable string that will last 1000 elf-lifetimes!”
“Interesting. Tell me
more.” I know I’m trapped. Bows are not always a worldly possession!
“This is certainly a very
special bow. It could be priced at 50 Minas! However, you seem to be a very
skilled and noble dark elf. For an elf like you, I’ll sell it to you for 40
Minas!”
I reply very quickly. “What!
Nonsense, sir! With a bow like this, I wouldn’t pay less than 60 Minas!” I say
to the trader, as his eyes light up. There is no haggling that should ever be
done with a bow of that quality. I instantly pay the trader for the bow, and
throw in a few extra for the tip. (I could only imagine that a trader in the
Elven Woodlands would not get the best business.)
