"It's been a few decades since the Silver State has been anything other than the barest skeleton of what it once was. Something needs to change or the state of the city will never do so. Hopefully this 'new' albeit suspiciously similar to every other form of government the State has ever had will do something different, however following similar event lines the chances are unlikely. Best of luck."
Erendriel would sign the letter, previous Medi'ir of Haelun'or.

What magics do you desire to teach?:
Shade
Summarize the Lore of this Magic:
Shades are parasites born upon the very soul of its host,
a bastardization of power descended down from Rilath the first shade himself
whom its power was granted by Iblees. Although through the years Iblees’s grasp
upon shades has waned, it’s power has not. Although its power is not directly
linked to Iblees anymore, amber can be created through the shade parasite which
is much akin to the old means of aura manipulation. These drastic series of
events don’t come without drawbacks. The Shade will constantly torture and
torment the host be it nightmares, whispers, or hallucinations. The reason the
Shade does this is to take over the host, a constant never ending battle till
eventually the host succumbs. The Shade isn’t evil, but nor is it good it’s
just pure chaos incarnate and will work endlessly to cause constant torment and
grief to its host. The reason some choose to take on this boon willingly or
unwillingly, is the incredible power the Shade provides to the host which is
the manipulation Amber. Able to form different shapes and consistencies ranging
from flesh, to wood, to hard iron, the trademark of a shade is the black aura
they are able to manipulate and their pure black eyes among other things.A new shade must first be taught this ability by their
Shade Father or Mother lest he be forever tormented by the shade without the
capability of using its abilities. As a shade matures so does its capacity to
produce more amber and condense/manipulate it with greater skill.Write up a lesson that your character would give to a
student. (Do note, we will be contacting aspiring teachers for a quick
interview, to try to better gauge your knowledge and understanding):Erendriel would be waiting patiently beneath the eaves of
a tree, eyes closed as his unkempt hair waves slowly in the breeze. With his legs
crossed, he opens his eyes to watch his 'son' approach. He'd nod slightly,
gesturing to the ground before him "Sit.". Obediently his apprentice would sit in front of Erendriel, his movements’
eager. Imitating Erendriel’s crossed legs with a grin he’d finally speak up "Are
you finally going to teach me?” Erendriel’s face would
remain passive as he nods “I believe it is past due
that you are taught the intricacies of what I have bestowed upon you. But…I
must forewarn you that touching upon this boon too much will bear unfortunate
consequences.” The apprentice would
naively shake his head. “I do not fear this power, I mean…look at you, how bad
could it be?” Erendriel
would gape slightly at his student shaking his head before regaining his
composure. “Sometimes your naivety
even strikes me…but you will come to learn soon enough. Open yourself to this
entity, let it overcome you and tap into this second power within you. See for
yourself what you have taken upon so willingly.”Erendriel would smile as his apprentice closes his eyes
tightly in concentration. For a few moments nothing would happen as Erendriel
drums his fingers along his knee. Eventually a faint black fog begins to
permeate just barely visible from the apprentices form. “I feel it…it’s so-” he’d stop short, his
expression of pure glee turning to horror as he open his now onyx eyes wide
with shock. He’d grab his head, his mouth parting to let forth a silent scream
as his body contorts in front of Erendriel. He’d begin to scratch and tear at
his face as he twists in the dirt. Erendriel would stand looking down at his
apprentice “Only idiots would take on this boon willingly, you my son will learn
the hard way of what it is to be a host to a self-wrought monster.” Erendriel would shake his head sadly as his apprentice stills,
looking up the apprentice would grin behind black eyes “Who are you calling a monster, Father?”Do you have a Teacher App you are dropping, due to this
app? If so, link it:Not currently. Below is a link to one of my original TA. It proves I was taught ICLY by Adorellan how to create another shade from my own.

Shades auras are not corrupted, just their souls. I don't know why we'd need a shade gem to bind a familiar. That lore piece doesn't seem relevant anymore as we don't use aura anymore but mana to create amber.

No worries it's nice to get constructive feedback on the matter.
I see your concerns. It's not like summoning an evocated flame. It takes longer and we're literally slicing off a piece of our soul to do it which hampers our ability to use shade magic afterward. The ability is sacrificial in nature and to be honest we'd probably need someone protecting us to successfully get it off. It's not something we can summon on a whim as slicing off a piece of your soul is no easy or quick task.0 -

Fair enough, thanks for correcting me. It should be noted though by communing it'll cause issues for said druid. I would assume though this wouldn't extend to Ambercrafting as it's not nature.
As for caliginous flame only a select few will have the ability to use it and said shades will have to give up multiple other magics just to go be able to use it. Can't really say much more on it than that. I think it's balanced imo but we'll see what others have to say as well.

I've not read through the entire thing yet but I've made it to the flame section. I don't agree with adding a directly anti-holy magic such as this amongst such an already fleshed out subtype. It seems like something the resonant knights should have, not shades. I don't quite like that.
Edit: Also Druids seem to be getting a lot of the short stick here. I understand not being able to fix people, but surely blight healing could heal an animal with the shade curse.
Caliginous flame is only an ability utilized by shade fathers and foretakers. Not only that it's something that said shades have to give up 3 magic slots to use.
As for druids getting the 'short stick' I was under the assumption that they couldn't heal something unholy which is amber, correct me if I'm wrong though. It's one thing for them to heal blighted land which has to do with life force, it's another to purify tainted mana or a soul.

I'm sorry, this isn't possible. Soul Puppetry is unable to work with any other magics in the application of curses. This breaks a very big lore piece of the magic.
0I'm not disagreeing with you nor saying you are wrong but it's been a part of shade lore for quite some time. Here's a piece from our currently written and approved lore.
Mind saying exactly what makes it not work and why?

I think you'd do just fine in this position but I suggest trying out one team for more than a few weeks before picking up another. It's pretty easy to overwork yourself.
P.S - That doesn't resemble you at all, she's much too tan.

ngl you mildly triggered me, bravo. +1

Idk if you need a mart for the second one, I used to make quite a few for Halsi and gang.

Great Rper, really knows his stuff, would make a great addition to the team, and refrains from ooc drama as far as I'm aware +1

Erendriel sighs heavily at the sight of all the letters, setting his own down he'd smile slightly before sadly shaking his head "Best of luck my love. Tis a shame Ethel wishes to tear what you've built asunder for nothing more than her greed and distaste." he'd quietly say to himself before going to work to rebuild Caminus.
