Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere! Role-playing: Assuming a role, be it fictional or real, to act out. Meta-gaming: To use external knowledge of something to gain personal advantage in a game or roleplay. Power-emoting: To force actions onto another player, without their previous consent. ((In World of Warcraft I believe this was commonly hand-in-hand with godmodding?)) In-Character Information Complete the following biography on your character: ((I was having a very difficult time coming up with a name. If this as a name is unacceptable I will think of something else.)) Full Name: Rhoslyn(Rho) Kitanil Current Age: 19 Sub-Race: Wood Elf Past / History (include childhood, major events, etc. 2+ Paragraphs long): Rhosyln was born into a family of little notability. Her father, a wood elf who a taught her archery at young age, was a hunter and selled meat and skins for a living. Her mother, a wood elf as well from what she can remember, was a baker. She and her family lived in a small cottage built by her father deep in forests some few miles off from the High Elven city of Lin'evaral. Why her family chose to settle there was never disclosed. While her childhood was relatively uneventful and, frankly, boring, one thing that stands out in her memory was her mother dying of illness, presumably Grish, though how she contracted it in the first place remains a mystery, before Rhosyln turned twelve, which left her father to raise their only daughter. Not much else happened in her younger years. She continued to hone her archery skills, eventually becoming quite good, and later on learning baking from what her mother had left behind. She left home when she turned eighteen, on good terms, and unlike many, she harbors no bitterness as an aftermath of her mother's death. Even as the subject will sadden her, she remains virtually indifferent, wishing only to live the rest of her life without burden. ((This might make for a slightly boring biography but... really, nothing bad had ever happened to her.) Ambitions for the future: Rhoslyn hopes to one day perfect her marksmanship, perhaps pick up a few more skills and one day, in the distant future settle down with a family. Personality: Taking mostly after her father, she is blunt, fairly shy and tends to have a cold disposition until you get her to open up. From that point she is friendly, or at least as friendly as she can bear to be, short-tempered and fairly easy to amuse. She's a very concentrated young woman and tends to overthink things, sometimes becoming confused as a result of these two attributes. She's not the most generous, and is always trying to improve her charismatic properties. Skills: She is highly skilled at archery, always completely concentrated when aiming at a target. Her baking is not nearly as prominent, but it's gotten her by. She's has good hearing which makes her more perceptive to the things around her, and she is quite quick and well-balanced. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Despite her wood elven roots, her skin is much fairer than that of others. She was not born brunette, but as she grew it darkened. Her eyes are a light jade color, her right eye usually covered by hair, regardless of how much it annoys her. Her ears are long, but not protruding past the top of her head, though they are usually covered by her hood, along with most of her incredibly long hair. She is.. maybe about 5'1". Any other details you wish to share about your character: Her bow was custom made for her by a friend of her father, the ancient Elven word 'Meracahe' carved delicately into the handle. She is severely allergic to mushrooms, and only slightly intolerant to pumpkin. Has an impressive singing voice, though she doesn't know many songs. Tends to act rashly when angered. Open Response Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. 1. As you walk through the deep forest* you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older Elves are mocking a small Elven child. How do you react? Answer: Rhoslyn, upon discovering this scene, sneered toward the group. She noticed she was still hidden and so, realizing she had her bow in hand, crouched down and pulled an arrow from her quiver and drew her bow, aiming carefully for the ground just next to one of the Elves' feet. The arrow lands a bit off than what she calculated, but there was no harm done and she got the reaction she was anticipating; shock. She stood up straight and made herself visible as the group of Elves turned to face her. She didn't recognize any of them, nor did she care to. With her bow still in hand, she spoke. "Picking on a small child, are we?" She began, chuckling quietly and shaking her head. "That's pretty pathetic. Why is it you're bothering him?" She finished, stepping closer to the group confidently. "It's none of your business, is it? Nobody was talkin' to you." One of the bigger elves countered. Rhoslyn groaned in annoyance. Dense, just as she thought. "Well, it is now, and now you are talking to me. Move aside or I'll yell for guards." She grumbled, placing her open hand on her hip expectantly. The anger in her face rose as they stood there with these stupid looks on their faces. With a small roll of her shoulders she drew her bow once more, aiming it this time at the head of the largest Elf standing in the center. Her face was expressionless but her voice harbored a large amount of repressed rage. "Guards don't seem to scare you, so scatter or I let this one go." She said, her voice growing louder at the end. With fear apparent in all of their faces they bolted in each direction, which triggered a hefty sigh of relief on Rhoslyn's part. She put her arrow back in its quiver, greeting the child. "You hurt?" She asked, to which he shook his head. "Alright. Go home then." She urged, motioning at the child dismissively. 2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do? Answer: Rhoslyn jumps back a little in surprise of the man falling, swiftly crouching down and helping the man to his feet after checking for a pulse, retrieving him his walking stick before gathering up the coins and stuffing them into the remnants of the pouch, holding them back out to him. "Are you alright, sir? Did you break anything?" She inquires, looking him over for any distorted bones or obvious wounds. "No, no, I'm quite alright. You keep that gold, young lady. When you get to be my age, gold doesn't matter too much. Thank you for helping me." He smiled kindly at her, to which Rhoslyn graciously bowed in thanks for the gold, slowly backing off and continuing on her way. 3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved). Answer: "Young lady!" A voice calls, grabbing Rhoslyn's attention as she follows the sound to a strangely placed colorful carravan. "I'll be willin' ta sell you just about anythin' for a price! Come on o'er!" The odd little man calls to her. Reluctantly Rhoslyn stepped closer, browsing the selection of wares on display. Just about anything? There's hardly anything here, she thinks, until she spots a dark leather cuirass with a sort of harness around it, atop it laying a dark hood of the same material. As she points to the set, and it is brought over, she spots a large set of the same kind of arrows she uses. She also motions toward these. "Now, missy, what would ya pay for these fine pieces of craftsmanship?" After pondering for some moments, she decides. "240 Minas." She declares, nodding her head in confirmation. The man looks slightly aghast, shaking his head sharply. "No, no, no, no, no. Tha' will not do. 500." He negotiates, drawing a sigh from Rhoslyn. "260 minas, not a coin more." The man continues negotiating, which seems to only aggravate Rhoslyn more. "200 Minas. Take it or leave it, I doubt you'll be getting any business after me all the way out here, anyway." She grumbles, her face a little distorted with annoyance. This causes the man to throw his arms up in the air with a hefty sigh, crossing them back over his chest. "Fine. But don't bother coming back." He submits, his voice nearly a shout. Rhoslyn smirks in response, throwing a small bag of coins onto the counter and collecting her prizes. "Wasn't planning to." She says, pulling the cuirass over her thick shirt and throwing the hood on, giving a halfhearted wave as she walked away. ((I do hope you take my application into consideration. I've been sitting in front of my computer for some six and a half hours thinking it out. If the text seems crunched, it did that when I copied the application over. Aaand I did read through the lore, thoroughly, but I honestly didn't find very many things that would be relevant to Rhoslyn.))
