In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Toren ( Bridgewater Current Age: 21 Sub-race (if any): Northerner Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Toren was born in a farming town on the outskirts of Oren. He grew up never knowing his real father but never lacked a male role model, as when he was born he already had 4 brothers aged 21, 17 and 14. Gendry, the eldest, became the lifeblood of the home shortly before Toren was born when their father left. Somebody had to step up and hunt for food and bring in money so that the rest of the family could survive. From the age of 5 he attended the local schoolhouse where he learned to read and write. His other brothers, especially Brutus, looked down on him. They said that he was wasting his time learning all this nonsense and he should be out learning to track and hunt. It was around this time that things began to go sour for the Bridgewaters. Gendry's mind became corrupt with alcohol. He would spend all of his earnings on the tavern after work and having nothing to show his mother for food and supplies. Every time she asked him where the money was he would hit her and any of them that tried to stop him would be beaten too. This went on for years. His other brothers, who had come of age had left the home to avoid Gendry's drunken wrath. This left Toren in a predicament. He was coming of age too, in fact his 18th birthday was coming up in just a month. But if he left the home, he would be leaving his mother behind, and Gendry wasn't getting any more kind. She had bruises around her eyes most days and scars from where he had cut her face from the rings on his hands. Things had only escalated over the years and Toren couldn't leave his mother to this monster. And then that night came. Toren was asleep and was woken up by a loud crash. Gendry came thundering through the front door, staggering around. His mother approached him and began shouting furiously at him. He lifted his hand and let out an enormous left hook that knocked his mother to the ground. Toren had had enough. He had just witnessed his brother strike his mother from the 100th time and felt his rage building in his fists. When his mother was getting up, Gendry listed his hands to hit her again when Toren charges into him with his shoulder. Gendry was stronger than him and he was thrown into the kitchen, straight into the leg of the table and breaking it. Still in his drunken rage, Gendry picked up a candlestick from the table and held it in the air. Toren saw what was happening. His eldest brother was going to... kill his mother. This monster, who him, his brothers and his mother had all had to bare for so many years was about to win. Toren refused to let this happen. He took a knife that had fallen off the table he hit and stood up. He looked at his brother and charged. It all happened so fast that he doesn't even remember how it happened. But his brother lay there, surrounded in red, with a knife in his neck. His mother screamed. Crawled to the body. Began to weap. She hugged him. Cried and prayed for him. Toren couldn't understand why. Why would she pray for this monster who had tortured her for the last 18 years. She turned to him and said: "W-why did you...H-how could you do thi-...You-you're going to pay for killing my beautiful boy. Get out! Get out now before I call a guard!" Toren stood there in total shock. How could she be like this. How could she be on the side of the man who beat her, who tried to kill her over her own son who had cared for her, washed her wounds. Was she brainwashed? Confused? Toren didn't have the time to find an answer. He heard the sound of chainmail approaching the house. The guards must have heard all the commotion. He had to run... That was 3 years ago. Toren is now 21. With a new name and a new life. Traveling from city to city, selling his merchandise and trying to live each day as it comes. Ambitions for the Future: He never wants to look back on his past. Every Time he does it just makes him sick and raises too many unanswered questions. He sees each new day as a gift and takes them as he comes, He hoped that he can get a permanent position delivering food to a local organisation. Personality: Having had to live on his own for a very long time, he has a hard time giving anything up for free. Everything he owns has a sentimental value to him because he has had to earn it himself. He took nothing when he left his home and had to make his whole life from scratch. He is reluctant to trust new people but is incredibly loyal and reliable to those he has known for a long time. Skills: Being a food merchant, he knows all the best locations for hunting. He has a fair hand at agriculture and knows how to make a good harvest. Having to catch his own food over the years has lead him to become proficient at using a bow and a fishing rod. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): His cloths are a little tattered but not torn. His shoes however, are quite worn and the leather is coming away at the seams slightly. Nothing he wears is new as he cannot afford it. He tried to keep on top of his hygiene by bathing often so has a fairly clean complexion. He stands at about 6 foot. No stubble. Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: The guards are in shouting distance but so is he. I feel it is my duty to alert the authorities to suspicious citizens. I follow the hooded man a little farther to see if he indeed is going to where I think he is. I have to be careful as I do not know this man and he could be armed and dangerous Once I verify that he is heading to the Emperor's palace, I head over to the guards. I point them in the direction of the hooded man so that they can question him on his intent. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: I know that my skills with a sword are far inferior to my skills in archery. The old man doesn't stand up as much help if I were to attack and so if I were to attack I would be outnumbered 2 to 1. However I don't think they have seen me so I may get the jump on them. I start running towards them and as I do one of them turns around. Having lost the element of surprise, I ask them what they are doing to the old man. He shouts that this has nothing to do with me and that I would be wise to move on. I have lost the element of surprise and they are both now facing me armed and ready to attack. I back away and leave. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: After a recent hunting trip, many of my arrows broke and need to replace them for my next trip. I ask him how much he is willing to sell me a quiver for and his initial price is very high. I don't have a lot of cash as I haven't been able to sell all of the deer meat I hunted earlier in the week. I offer him a trade. I will pay him half the coin he asks for and my remaining meat that I had for sale. He accepts and says "I hope to do business with you again soon". (Hope you don't mind I edited some of the BB code so that it would display cleaner. A lot of it seemed to be broken.)
