Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!
Role-playing: Role-playing is taking on the role of your character, as if you were actually him/her. During this time you assume the role of being “In-Character” or “IC,” while if you were not role-playing as your character, you’d be “Out of Character” or “OOC,” which can be shown as “(( ))” brackets around your text.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is gathering advice that you know OOC, and using that IC, normally when your character isn’t even aware of it. For example, if a major baddie comes around, and you’re aware of this OOC-wise, but IC-wise they don’t look or seem evil in any way, nor you haven’t even met them IC, you proclaim that he’s been doing crimes and other bad things, EVEN though you hadn’t even known this IC- That is an act of Meta-gaming.
Power-emoting: Also known as God-modding in some cases, this is where you emote for someone else to make yourself higher or have a better advantage in RP, I generally find this in fight type of settings. An example of this would be you in battle, and then emoting that you disarm the player completely, leaving the other person you’re Role-playing with stuck in a situation where they could easily get killed/or cannot have a response to.
In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:
Full Name: Kirissa Valestrider
Current Age: 225
Sub-race (if any): Wood Elf
Past / History (includes childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Burned into the memories of her mind, Kirissa Valestrider’s childhood wasn’t as simple as many Elven families lived with. Her family stayed in the well-known Elven nation of Malinor- tending to the many ailments and illnesses of its inhabitants, or like her parents did- delving into the renowned Wood Elf mastery of Archery. They had been living there for not that long, most of her older family dates from the fall of Asulon, fleeing to Anthos by ship, and finally staying in the founded Elf capitol of Leumalin. She and her younger sister, Sylvissa, carried important errands for her family, running to places where they were needed. Many times, they’d return to their bustling family, all crammed into their one large tree home.
This time- their large home seemed empty, the door was shattered in many pieces. A note, seeming to have rushed handwriting, states that Kirissa and Sylvissa to go off to an old friend’s home and to stay there until they all returned.
The two never seemed to figure out what happen to the rest of their family. Instead, the two sisters decided to focus on their studies, Kirissa taking up the art of archery while Sylvissa took up wanting to become a druid. They stayed remotely away from the capitol of the Elves, Leumalin, where their home was before, wanting to not resurface memories. Sometimes, Kirissa would take a trip to their long-abandoned home and search the grounds for any signs of her family.
Many years passed, and the two left each other, vowing to see one another again and to know the whereabouts of the rest of their extended family.
Kirissa Valestrider took to the wilds as her refuge, combing the forests close to Leumalin with her longbow and becoming one with nature. She lived a simple life, choosing not to be involved with the politics of the nation of Malinor nor its peoples- preferring to stay involved with the silence of nature. She stayed like this for awhile, remaining stubborn and not wanting to leave the area close to her first home, hoping to catch a clue of where her family was whisked off to.
Now, at the age of 225, she decides to leave her home in the woods and make something out herself, and to take her search for her lost family out of the woods and into the rest of Anthos.
Ambitions for the Future: One her highest ambitions is to know where her family went off to all those years ago- but now, as the years go on, she slowly accepts their abrupt leave. She’d also like to further her skills in Archery, wanting to fully master in the art and have a job centered on that skill.
Personality: Kindness can be reflected in Kirissa, which does not mirror her much simple and wild appearance. She treats many with kindness and respect- regardless of whom and what they are. She rarely can be found in a foul mood, but if you tread on the subject of her family or become violent against nature, her anger can surface. Kirissa can sometimes be very silent, mostly concentrating on her surroundings.
Skills: She learned the basics of Archery from when she stayed at a family friend’s home in her youth, then moving on from there from practicing during the many years of her solitude in the forests outside Leumalin. She’s also skilled in the ways of survival, after being in the forest for so long, her mind has been trained in the ways of surviving and living alone.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):
As her small, but agile form runs through the woods that she calls home, her long, coppery red hair follows behind her, sailing on the wind. Her skin, a light brownish color, tans in the sunlight that peeks through in clearings or through the thick canopy that encompasses the forest. When her mask is not on, her eye color is the color of the deep earth.
Her attire is very simple and very manageable for a simple life of survival in the Elven Woodlands, made from light leather. She always is found wearing a pure white ceremonial mask, marked with two blood-red lines going down the eyeholes. The mask is almost animal-like, akin to maybe a skull of some rare creature. She only takes off her mask in conversation, not wanting to frighten people with her anonymous approach if the mask were on.
Any other details you wish to share about your character:
She frowns upon the destruction of nature, becoming very upset with people who do. Kirissa also is a vegetarian, refusing to kill or eat any wildlife, preferring to live with nature, not destroy its creations.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____
1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?
Answer: Upon hearing the snickering of her own brethren at a small child, Kirissa draws her longbow, nocking an arrow and slowly approaches the group.
Her voice, smooth as light wind through the canopy of the dense forest, breaks the loud laughter of the older elves: “Greetings to you, fellow brethren.” The large mask that she wears seems to frighten the small group of elves, beginning to make attempt to move as far away from Kirissa.
They all dart away from the child, noticing the woman’s weapon. Little do they know that Kirissa carries the weapon for sport, not for conflict.
She lowers her bow, removing the arrow and shoving it back into its quiver, hanging from her back. She removes her large mask, showing the small child her face, the only part of her not caked in dirt from the forest. She gives a small grin, kneeling and extending a hand to the child.
As the group of elves slowly backs out from sight, she exchanges names with the child and she learns of the child’s story of why she was deep into the woods with such horrid people.
Kirissa stands up, pulling the small child up with her. The still silence of the woods accompanies them as Kirissa escorts the small child back home, knowing that the children of elves are precious- not many can achieve pregnancy.
2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?
Answer: After a long trek through the forest, an old man lays defenseless lies on the floor of a path catches Kirissa’s attention. She immediately runs to the old man, noticing the spilled pouch of gold.
Firstly, she helps the elderly man up on his feet, grabbing his well-worn walking stick. Afterwards, she removes her large mask, dropping it on the ground, making a large clunk in the silent forest.
Smiling, she begins to speak: “Forgive me- I am Kirissa Valestrider. You should be careful on these roads; many bandits seem to take these less crowded paths out here.”
The old man blinks, returning her grin with his own. He offers a thanks and an apology: “Thank you kind elf. I was just trying to find a quicker route through the forest.” He begins to now bend down a retrieve his lost coins, shoving what he can into his pockets.
Kirissa puts back on her mask, bending down to grab some of the spilled coins from around her feet. She hands the coins to the old man, bowing her head as a gesture of kindness.
The old man then inquires about him taking another way through the forest. Shaking her head, Kirissa pulls a worn map from her backpack, showing him an alternate route through the dense woods.
Shaking the old man’s hand, he leaves slowly, making his way through the forest. Kirissa watches him walk off until she cannot see him anymore.
3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).
Answer: Much farther in Kirissa’s past she comes upon a trader parked with a brightly colored carriage, exclaiming of his wondrous wares and how he has almost anything an adventurer like her would need. Browsing his wares, Kirissa notices a large, ceremonial type of mask.
Pointing at the simple, but meaningful mask, she inquires a starting price. “About the mask, kind sir, how much does such wondrous item go for?”
He stares at the simply clothed Wood Elf, raising an eyebrow at the request. “Aye, wha’ a beauty, eh? It’s a fine piece, but it is very expensive, lil’ missie.”
She pulls a small bag of coins, extending the bag to the trader. “Take what you need.” He takes the bag, pulling it open to see the contents. Kirissa would normally barter for such an item- but she didn't seem to mind for the mask's price, she was eager to have the wondrous mask.
The man’s eyes widen, noticing the large sum of coins in the small bag. Kirissa makes her way over to the mask, picking it up and feeling the contours and texture of the mask. The merchant watches her intently, “Aye, this be enough... Much more than enough, I say. Go on, take it.”
She then picks up the mask, putting it on. Nodding her head as a gesture of thanks, she darts off. The trader stands up, watching her small, agile body disappear off into the deep woods.
