Doc , My friend. I hate to leave you without saying goodbye. I didn't know you long, but I hope I've left an impression in your head. You defended me to my family, even if I didn't deserve it. You're a funny guy and I wish people would see past your scary stature and become friends with you. Please keep living on and don't forget about me. "

The Doctor sat in his wilderness hideout, watching a potted flower on a table withered, his gilded gaze wandered downwards as he'd reach up to remove his skull-shaped metal mask, grabbing his trusty skinning knife from his side, carving a mark inside the mask, another among many others as he'd look towards the dying flower once more, releasing a lengthy sigh

  2. Cleaver merely sits in silence upon hearing of his father's fall, grinning moments later "Tha' me pops. N' mattah how ol', he died jus' like he promised. Axe een hand, choppin' shoit een half." he'd reach for a nearby tankard, raising it one final time in the honor of his legend of a father

I don't think I've ever once had a positive IC or OOC experience with a necromancer. Positive IC meaning productive, interesting, or valuable to the development of my stories or characters; positive OOC meaning amicable or enjoyable (and not laden with rules lawyering and self-aggrandizing behavior as conversations with necros so often are).

I don't think the problem is with the magic. I think the problem is with the players.

You've rewritten necro approximately one kazillion times. Every time people hate them. Maybe it's just full of unlikable or frustrating people, dawg.

People themselves are a big chunk of it, yes, but quite often how the lore's designed can render people to be seen as 'frustrating' and such. Back when i was an undead, i've had good relationships OOC'ly, of course with both ascended and clerics, IC we were mortal enemies, but it didn't hold each of the communities from throwing crap at one another, calling each other toxic and such. There's bad apples in every basket. Necromantic community isn't the only one nor is the one with most "frustrating people". Far from it.

Dungeons man, as cliche as it may sound there's a reason they're used. Baiting them to an area where you have dominion is a pretty good tactic.

Last time we did that, fate, we ended up falling into those holes more themselves than anyone else since the gates were always closed. Besides, remember when we lured a cleric near our cave? He somehow solo'd 8 of us IRP for half a hour. Bad Kary. Bad.

Honestly the solution is to just keep killing people to attack you until they learn to be scared. This might require the recruitment of a few sympathetic homies willing to rp as skeletons etc

I don't think undead were ever strong enough to compete with nations with solid militaries, and that's what you're dealing with half the time. God forbid you'd catch someone on the roads, five minutes later half the nearby nation's military shows up and you get PvP'd. Besides, i've tried the whole "make them afraid" tactic. It just ends up with more people wanting you dead and just trying to hunt you down in larger and larger groups. The whole "protag" thing that was mentioned above is quite common.

  6. Darkstalker Sentinel glares up from the hell Flam's shelf sent him down to

Jokes aside, i don't think that undead will ever be more than the occassional pest or something for people to expect stubling into town. Necromancers? Maybe. But darkstalkers or ghouls are stuck. No matter if one's to play a for some reason peaceful darkstalker or a hostile one, due to how LOTC is, everyone wants to be a hero. Let a wyvern into a city, people won't flee but charge at it. Same goes for the undead, most of the time they're forever stuck existing for the entertainment of others as some sort of player-ran event and little else.

Even necromancers themselves don't exactly do much other than either create more undead, teach a friend or two the magic or  make gigantic schemes that mirrior necromancy's origin that never go anywhere. Ascended are gone for lesser reasons despite being awfully similiar in OOC origin. To sum it up, from a IC standpoint, you'd see more voidal horrors be tollerated than any type of undead, rendering what they can do quite limited when it comes to roleplay. I've played only my darkstalker up until flam's shelf, while my character was rather bloodthirsty, more often than not he fought in self defence because someone wanted the bragging rights of taking down a darkstalker.

Have you told Community Team or just complained on the forums?

Dont worry, I did it for you.

Imagine expecting things to be fixed by just complaining on the forums when we have actual ways of passing on things like this to staff.

Imagine getting salting over a forum containing three sentences. It wasn't even a complaint, it was pointing out the obvious.

  8. Keep the hate purely IC and it shouldn’t be an issue. But when it goes past it, that’s a problem. Racism especialy is kind of a big thing to any universe that has so many races. I doubt that most humans born in human society are going to look at cat-people, ten foot tall idiotic ologs and unaging pointy eared tree folk as someone that’s equal to them.

Sure, we can go through every single piece of creature lore and explicitly outline that they cannot engage in intercourse with descendants, but what goal do you think this would serve if the server’s core rules permit a standard that requires us to state this in the first place? This phrase singlehandedly permits a myriad of incredibly severe encounters that should not be reasonably accepted by any sense of morality or logic, and rightly so.

It should go without saying that a Hou-Zi cannot FTB with descendants due to the fact that they are physically evolved from monkeys, or that an Ologies cannot engage in intercourse since they possess the mind of a literal toddler. Both from a lore and OOC standpoint, any sexual engagement between just about any CA creature and a descendant should be disallowed, not merely because of things like Kha or Hou, but also beings like Gravens or Darkstalkers that could legitimately tiptoe around necrophilia rules by means of this vague and subjective line.

I’m not saying that romance RP between character couples of a CA creature and a descendant should be totally disallowed, but engaging romance roleplay can still be achieved without the need for sexual interaction between the two. Players who are legitimately and tastefully engaging in this branch of narrative would suffer no consequence and would continue to thrive. If someone is instead deterred by the inability to indulge in these explicit circumstances as opposed to a unique and engaging roleplay scenario, then frankly should not be roleplaying on this server – though that is more so my own opinion.

That being said, know that I harbor no ill-will or prejudice towards any groups or communities in or outside LOTC. People are free to do as they will beyond these screens and keyboards, but bear in mind that this server is designed for a wide range of audiences and ages, including the youth. We pride ourselves in being a PG-13 server that welcomes roleplayers of all ages and experience levels, offering a unique and captivating experience for ll sorts of players. But can we really continue to maintain this sense of modesty if we’ve established a precedent wherein each lore piece must now state whether or not the creature may engage in these unsettling activities?

All I ask is that you consider what I’ve said and perhaps revisit this single line, nothing more. I will not argue/respond further as I do not wish to derail this post, nor discredit the wonderful work the moderation team has done with these amendments. Should you wish to discuss this any more, I’m always available to speak through discord or even a forum PM.

Thank you for listening to what I have to say, and have a good night.

Completely agreed. LoTC ain’t the place for your kinks people, y’all need to relax!

    >tfw he was joking..

If that's the case, I'd suggest that the Orcs get Resistance 2~ and Weakness 2~ during warmup time, to allow them to tank the damage that will be dealt to them, whilst not being able to use it as a way to avoid damage.

Interesting suggestion. I'd add to it by making the charge-up time shorter. Because anyone can just step away and your charge's worthless, even then, all it does is 2 hearts of damage to an unarmored person.

Don't personally think there is anything more for halflings, /Most/ Of Us aren't very skilled combat wise, and already have 2 Racial skills, as said above, however, if you can pitch an idea for something that sounds reasonable for my half-men friends, I seriously want to hear it, Cause I'm all out of ideas.

In my opinion i don't see why halflings shouldn't share a passive speed buff with their goblin buddies. Both are the only races with less than avarage amount of health, the only two races with two racial skills... and goblins even have both speed and more health than halflings. Don't see why not half-men shouldn't have the same passive speed buff as gobos do.
