As a child he was very fond of reading and watching raceing and for a brief time trained for his own entry . Noland was never a fighter as the family tradition had been because he saw little need for violence and prefered to fight with his words. At age 10 he began to lie… a lot about all manner of things stealing food from the mart and what had happened to his father’s prize sword. After this a small skirmish broke out which caused noland to flee. In reality the sword was not stolen by noland but by a common thief but nolands reputation and lack of trust made his pleas fall on deaf ears. After his flight noland needed a new home he wandered until he stumbled upon the city of gronkston. Noland had no money or connections he also had nowhere left to go so he did what he did best, he lied. Claiming to be a powerful sorcerer with the power to level the city at his call he convinced the city leadership to give him enough gold to be convinced of the citys wealth and a prize horse.
