What can you bring to the World Dev Team that is Unique?
I believe that personality is a key function of any team, and I believe that this is something that I have grown into holistically for the team, especially working diligently on Atlas. I believe that our progress was smooth, and was almost a sense of a ‘small family unit’ when working together. This is something I hope to revitalize, at least with myself, in making map projects such as this entertaining and productive.
What do you think the most important decisions are when it comes to designing a world?
The most important design decisions are roadways. Without proper roadways, it doesn’t matter how magnificent the other structures or terrain is. This is due simply because people explore only near and on the roadways. If we spend all of our time working on a centralized roadwork frame, time would be wasted on structures and beautiful terrain alongside the outskirts of the map. I believe designing a map should be “one region at a time”, while glancing at how each region impacts the other.
When working on smaller projects such as a village, a cave or a ruin; what is your aim?
I believe everything should be beautiful. With so many block choices and building techniques, there’s absolutely no reason it should be anything less than attractive, however, functionality trumps all. We are a roleplay server, and it makes sense to interact with our landscape. That’s why we spend so much time working on functional roadways and navigable off-road terrain. Small scale buildings should be exactly the same.
A large part of the World Developers job is finding new ideas for environments. Give a brief synopsis of an idea that you have had in that regard.
Working on east asian, australian, and south american landscapes is something that the server lacks. Understanding that our terrain isn’t an exact copy of American/European Landscape, I believe the server lacks the additional environmental aspects. This isn’t only in trees and grasses, but also water movement, vines, bush style, rocks, etc.
If you could, what would you change about Atlas and why?
Similar to the above question, I would try my best to diversify the landscape. Our trees and landscape is gorgeous, but more variety would definitely expand lore and give more reason for placement. I’d love an RP reason as to why someone moved to the middle of the desert, for example, because at its current state, there's no “real” RP reason.
How much time are you on average able to contribute towards being a WD?
I’d allocate at minimum, 7 hours a week to this. (Fluctuations for competitions and schoolwork may occur, but a 2 week advance would be given).
The World Developers Team is a diverse group with a wide array of opinions, meaning disagreements often happen. Discuss how you handle disagreements or criticism when it comes to your designs.
Let’s change them. A key understanding to the World Developer team is that I am NOT building for me. I am building for a server. If something works better for the general public, let me save my work, destroy it, and start over.

I don't have many pictures of my recent work (new computer), however, the landscape in and around the Cloud Temple, roadways, and general terrain work is partially of my work. SeventhCircle and I can go into exact detail of what I did, what I worked on, etc.

Hey there, so you can't have this much action with other players. You are hinting that this roleplay actually happened. We encourage biographies in applications to be vague... filled with dreams and hopes. Your timeframe of 24 hours is up, however it was a simple mistake in the last portion of your biography. For this, I'll give you 2 hours to fix. Just a hint, without this last paragraph, you will be accepted.

After 24 hours and communication between both myself and the applicant, I do not believe that the biography is sufficient enough for proper acceptance onto the server.
Your biography is not lacking lore, it is simply incorrect at times. For instance, There is no nation known as Alban (rather a religious capital for the nation of haense. Your biography also alludes to 'pvp' instead of combat and gives irrational thoughts that aren't exactly conventional for the server.
Also, when did High Elves and Ologs invade? I do not ever recall that happening nor reading it on ANY wiki page.
Please go ahead and take a few hours to actually look over the wiki page and write out your biography in a factual and flowing manner. If you need any help just give me a buzz via forum pm.

[Denied]AfricanGlasses's World Developer Application

Want it to be known that I’m not playing on the server, nor have since last fall. I just want to help build a map, similar to how I assisted in Atlas. To be quite frank, I don’t even want the title of world developer and would be happy just building and then removed from the private whitelist similar to how I functioned in atlas.
Understandably, you weren’t aware of my behind the scenes action because I didn’t publicize it. I’ve been off of staff and the server for over a year, yet contributed heavily.
That is exactly what I wish to do here. I just wish to be a helper, and work on next map with the sole intention of not staying on after. That position is for someone much more dedicated than myself... who understands lore and player needs much more than I. All I ask is to be used as a pawn and mass builder to finish projects for our upcoming map.
