  1. [!] Letters were pinned to noticeboards throughout the towns and villages of the Holy Orenian Empire [!]

    Letter to the Faithful

A threat is growing in the east.

As some of you may know, foulness spreads through the lands of Almaris. A filth which if left to its own, shall consume all that we’ve worked so hard to build and hold dear.

Yes, that is no invalid claim or false assumption, it is the truth. So listen here as to how we may stop this and save ourselves.

After the fall of Ando Alur some sort of “crack” in reality opened up where it layed, leaking this contamination that we see today polluting GOD’s great land.

The hubris of the witches and sorcerers that dwelt there was all encompassing. Just like it is written in the holy scrolls, Iblees was corrupted by the void, and so were these people of Ando Alur. Their greed was too limitless to be able to control their unnatural powers. This rift spread its disease, turning the flora and fauna around it twisted and evil.

Much like a rash is to the body, so is this uncleanliness a sore upon the land.
And cleanse it we shall! For it is our GOD given duty to do so, as did our forefathers before us when combating the thanic threats of Johannesburg and Mordskov. So shall we by our swords and spears cleanse the land of this current corruption.

As simple man, I see only a few options before us. Through cooperation between Church and secular authorities, a series of expeditions should be organized to explore the region and research how to defeat it. Following that, we would compile a plan from our findings and execute it. All working accordingly, with enough men we should be able to get to the heart of the issue and solve it once and for all.s

If this threat is to be ignored for much longer this land will be fully enveloped by the stink of death. So we should unite, not under Emperors or Kings, but under the initiative of the people and the resources of the Church. Our army is occupied fighting the war so I call upon thee, faithful of Almaris.

I call upon the Holy Church of the Cannon, Supreme Order of Exalted Owyn and the Lectorate. I call upon all the faithful of these lands so that we may form a common body to combat the evil that grows in the east.

We must unite to do GOD’s will, for apart we simply cannot prevail. That is why, brothers and sisters in GOD, I beseech you as a humble servant of the Holy Orenian Empire to come together against this threat. So we may keep our lands to ourselves.

  3. [!]

On the various trading boards of Almaris was pinned a tattered notice that is written on a  slighlty damp slip of paper, reading as follows:

Reward of 600 minas upon the delivery of an intact lesser dragon carcass:

Looking for a party of mercenaries, monster hunters, or soldiers to kill a lesser dragon of any kind, be it a wyvern, drake or basilisk.

On delivery of an enitre lesser dragon carcass the party will be paid a total of 600 minas to share among themselves as they see fit.
The only known location of a lesser dragon's nest is in the desert of Sutica, on top of a volcano.

On procurement of (see above) send a message by courier or raven to Ronald aep Dricaen ((Yakith_Lizard)) who can be found in Luciensburg.

  4. “What is your baptismal name?”

    Ramon Llull.
“Hm, and how many years have you lived?”

    43.

“I see, interesting. And where were you born?”

    Helena.

    “Aha, and your ethnicity?”

    Heartlander.
“Are you able to read and write?”

    Yes.

“I see. And your family? Are you married, do you have children?”

    No.

“How do you wish to serve GOD? As A Monk? A priest? A layman?”

    Priest or Monk.

“And finally, do you have any issue with taking up oaths of chastity and devote yourself to our Lord GOD?”

    No.

“That should be all.” He finishes writing down the answers “I shall send this to the Prelate of the Priesthood right away.”

Okay, so I've been thinking about this and I believe a solution may be in changing part of Lotc's culture. Now, in LARP culture, there is something known as consent roleplay. One of the key components of consent roleplay is called check-ins.

Basically, when your character and another player's character come into conflict, you should check in with that person OOC later to see if that person is okay. The same should be the case with conflict in LOTC.

"Hey, this is the guy who just robbed you. I wanted to see if you are okay after that."

"I'm fine. I really wanted to be able to roleplay a little more. I felt like you rushed the conflict and then killed me when I wasn't responding fast enough. I can't help being a slow typer."

"Man, I'm so sorry about that. I was getting nervous because I know a guard patrol was out, so I felt I needed to get what I could and run before that happened."

    "That happens. Thanks for apologizing."

Boom. Done. Easy. And let's face it. It's the mature and responsible thing to do in a game.

  6. I used to bandit a LOT, and always did it in rp. Both on my orc characters and human ones, thievery was the primary goal and never ended up killing almost anyone. I think the purpose of playing a villain, any kind for that matter, is to fill a niche in a story and provide a common goal to unite people. In doing so you create more rp, and help to turn mundane rp into something more memorable. I’m wholly opposed to any form of PVP besides nation vs nation battles and think that banditry should be done in rp. #RPdefault2019
