Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Musin are a beastfolk subrace of the Ratiki, who have long since fled to Almaris and have a mysterious past with a figure known as the Giant. They are the smallest of all known races, ranging from 1'8 to 2'6, and appear much like common mice, though stand on their hind legs with some human-like features. Their bodies are faces are covered in a fluffy layer of fur, with their hands, feet, and tails being hairless. Their coloring is that of most natural colors: black, white, brown, tan, and gray. Musin can also have 'fancy' coloring, meaning a mix of usually 2 of these colors. Their tails are smaller than a Ratiki's, being relative to their stature, and they lack the fangs of their rat cousins. Musin must still gnaw on things to keep their teeth from becoming overgrown and sharp. A musin's diet largely favors sweet and crunchy foods, with meats being much less favored. Additionally, too much raw meat, as well as dairy products, will make a musin sick. Musin reach physical maturity at age 12, and most commonly live to around 70, with the oldest known Musin living to 78. They are a very clean race, grooming themselves one to two times a day, either with their hands or a comb. A Musin who does not regularly groom themselves can become susceptible to disease.

Culturally, they're a peaceful race, though have a strong inclination to 'recycle' from others. They will often 'borrow' things from other places and races, and due to their size, much of their clothing, belongings, and structures are created from these repurposed items. Physically, a Musin is at a great disadvantage in combat. While considerably dexterous and agile, a single hit can be enough to mortally wound a Musin. Due to their size, a dagger is like a sword, a shortsword much like a greatsword, and bows almost completely inaccessible or unusable to them. These factors have forced Musin to be a pacifist race, often better off completely avoiding combat than trying to scramble away to save their lives. In addition to their small stature, some physical differences are their advanced hearing and sensitive eyesight. While not blind in sunlight, their vision is significantly reduced (24 blocks), while under cloudcover or nightfall, they can see normally (48 blocks). Their increased hearing causes suddden, loud noises to startle Musin, and they are capable of hearing high pitched noises that most other races cannot.

Anzutake is entirely white in coloring, with black eyes and pink flesh beneath her hair. She is quite small, being young still, at a merely 1 foot 10 inches, and being under the Oyashiman culture, often sports appropriate attire such as yukata.

    Creator's MC Name:

    Creator's RP Name:

             Gashadokuro

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Zar'ei are demonic creatures of a humanoid nature that are created and bound to a Naztherak. They operate on an entirely selfish basis, seeking only to further their own gains and incapable of kindness and virtue, nor are they capable of forming any meaningful relationships. Capable of higher thinking, they may somewhat resemble a descendant race but are infernal in nature, often possessing horrific features such as scaled flesh, tails, horns, extra limbs, and may even radiate malflame. There are three subtypes, including Mage/Malda, Knight/Kozun, and Brute/Rakaal. Mage types are typically more slender in stature, and as their namesake states are caster types, with access to many spells. Knights are the foot soldiers, possessing size and strength equal to a healthy mortal race, and while capable of some spell casting, are much more limited, able only to cast a few spells and have a lesser pool of Malus than the mage type. Brute types are the tanks, with strength comparable to that of an Orc, preferring to use brute force, though are capable of a couple spells and having a much smaller Malus pool.  All Malus regenerates after 12 IRL hours, and all casting must have tells.

All Zar'ei are susceptible to death like any other, be it blood loss, starvation, or other means, able to be reformed by their binding Naztherak through ritual, else they must spend one week feasting on their own Malus in order to reform. They cannot die of old age, but instead those of great age will take on a gradually more ashen appearance. Zar'ei may subsist on a non-meat based diet but will slowly wither, preferring to consume flesh in order to maintain their physicality. Being entirely selfish beings, even if bound to a Naztherak, they will scheme against their master if pushed too hard or reigned in too tightly, often needed at least some feigned semblance of freedom. They are as weak as any other to Malflame and Thahnic sources, and weaker still to holy magics. They are unable to refuse orders given by their master or attack them, and inherently are able to read, speak, and write in Ilzakarn.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

A previously elven female now donning red flesh, the horns and yellow, horizontal slitted eyes of a goat remain upon her face. Cracks in her skin that leak out tendrils of smoke and the occasional flicker of a little flame are seen across her body, while a devilish, 3 foot tail emerges from the base of her back that ends in a tuft of white hair. Her nose has been squished up, appearing like that of a satyr, much more animalistic than prior, and her mouth are full of pointed, daggerlike teeth. Sunken, hollowed cheeks and eye sockets cause bone to jut out in an unhealthy appearance, with her once elven ears now resembling that of a hooved animal. Too large eyes give her a distinctly non-mortal appearance, with her hands and feet being tipped in black talons rather than nails.

She is of the Kozun subtype.

    Creator's MC Name:

             Gundam_Engineer

    Creator's RP Name:

             Oijin

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Animii are constructs made from alchemy and clockwork. They can be made in a vast variety of appearances, and are generally made with a steel skeleton which holds up the internal cogworks and their tubing which acts as their circulatory system, as well as their various mechanical "organs". In place of blood, they run off an alchemical oil called 'Lifeblood', which if lost in great amounts may completely disable an Animii as they have no way of naturally clotting such loss. The most important vessel within an Animii is it's Gear Heart, which is a very fragile 'organ' that allows the lifeblood to flow through the body and the other vessels to function. Another such important vessel is the optional Obedience Vessel, which grants the person who's blood has been added to the Animii's blood the full loyalty of such. More than one person may be added, though the first will always be at the top, with those following in descending order based on when and how much blood was added.

Played Animii are always humanoid in shape and may have things added to their bodies though not smaller than a halfling or larger than an Uruk. Larger automata necessitate stronger skeletons to accommodate their size and will suffer detriments from their excessive size, such as being slower physically and mentally. Animii must be mode of and plated with inorganic or dead material. Plating cannot be thicker than 2mm without causing the animii to be slower and less functional. They may be augmented by their creator with things such as hidden blades or tools in the hands, so long as the augments are balanced. Animii have no mana whatsoever and may not learn any kind of magic that requires a soul.

Overclocking is a state in which the Animii increases it's lifeblood flow, at the detriment of it's internal workings. Minor and Major overclocking can only be sustained for a short about of time (4 and 2 emotes respectively) before the Animii would break down entirely. They can manage this only once per encounter, and will be weaker after using this ability for the rest of the encounter.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Aya is an Animii that has been built in the shape and form of a human woman, being about 5'6'' in height and notably with plating made of painted ceramic, making her especially fragile and not effective in combat.

  5. In a church somewhere, a small girl all in white stared upwards as rays of light streaked through stained glass across the space, dappling her pale skin in color. She sat alone for a time, and then no longer alone. Silent, still as stone, she had become statuesque. She had been robbed of her warmth, and she wished only to turn to marble and cease to live in this wretched world.

  6. xAb0ygOzdZ4bV9WhriZMt1ztP3wbTRuyGFeqK9qBiHaQgmPf6WLpQpfrJmSQSBkaM--eXkFOy-F99WT3nAoAceiMSWHI0er8i5cPN0Z0E0zEKH3tcmgVPknFlXoA5ffiNfnimOO_WAPvZZM7-iiXe50

A tiny girl, pale of skin and hair and no older than six, sat upon the edge of a stream. In the distance, there was the faint sound of revelry, and laughter, and the rising of smoke from a campfire. She stared across the babbling brook, its noise a comfort to her, at a pine tree on the other side. Its branches swayed gently in the breeze, and occasionally, they blurred like a smudge of green paint. She squinted a bit, rubbed her eyes, and then decided it was nothing to worry about. She leapt up, turning to run into the tent camp to find someone to pester.

    [Ten Years Later]

Lorina Varoche was alone in the white walled church of Velec. She was on her knees before the altar, palms clasped tight enough to hurt, and the silence of the space was broken by her quiet sobs. For years now, she’d been completely blind. It was utter darkness, with only what she could paint in her mind. Her vision had been fading since for as long as she could remember, getting worse each year, making her world smaller. Finally, at 13, it had gone completely. Through those years, through life's many traumas, she’d found faith. She vehemently believed that God had taken her sight in His wisdom, so that she might better hear His voice. But now, three years into the darkness, she’d struggled to hear Him. The trials and tribulations continued, but she felt her own faith wavering, and it terrified her. All that had comforted her, this knowing that He was there with her, guiding her, felt cool and distant, the flame of faith flickering inside her.

Now, she was growing desperate. Her tears spilled forth from sightless eyes, sobs tearing through her as they grew louder. They were cries to nothing, to the silence and cold air of the church around her. The noise bounced off colorful stained glass, meeting her once again in a faint echo. Her breaths came faster, and more shallow, as she began to descend into panic. It was dangerous territory, but in her loneliness she had no one to ground her, nothing to cling to for sanity. Her own mind blurred, some form of mental tunnel vision as the panic rose. Her chest tightened, and it became difficult to breath through the sobs. Her hands unclasped, and she fell forward, palms catching her. Pale, slender fingers dug at the carpet, clawing and desperate. Between breaths came words, quick and panicked.

“Please, please God, please. Show me the way. Speak to me again. Please, God, I need you now!”

Her whole body trembled, shaking with the quiet violence of a panic attack. Her mind began to darken, the blood pounding in her ears sounding like angry drum beats, and she felt her muscles weaken. Once, long ago, she’d experienced this, and some little voice in a corner of her mind that wasn’t full panic said ‘Next comes the darkness, and then the flash of light, and when you wake, someone will be holding you. Someone with panic on their face will cry out, ‘Lorina, you’ve had a seizure!’

And with that, the darkness did come, and the flash of bright light in her mind.. And then another, and another. Like fireworks in her skull, the light came, brighter and brighter until it was painful, until it felt like her skull was coming apart. And suddenly, the light bloomed so fiercely that she thought it might be the very gates of the Seven Skies themselves opening up before her.

And then, nothing. No drum beats, no sobs, no little voices or flashes of light. She was alone again, laying on the musty carpet of the lonely church. Lorina lay there for a moment, the sunlight streaming in through the stained glass meeting her cheek with a faint warmth, before seeming to be chased away by the cool touch of.. What? There was nothing, no hand, no one there to comfort her. And still, she felt that chill palm on her cheek, and the faintest whisper of words.

It’s time to wake up, Lorina.

  7. Building Blocks:

Q: Do you think there should be just one set of each building block or node? Or multiple? How would you scatter them throughout the world?

There should be multiple locations for each type of block. Ideally, 4 locations for resource gathering located at vaguely each cardinal direction of the map would be ideal. Without fast travel, it shouldn't be a cross-continental trek to get oak wood.

Q: Would you want to see different numbers on these building blocks? In yield or in harvesting time?

The proposed amounts and timers seem reasonable.

Q: Would you prefer a system where you physically break the block rather than right clicking it?

Right clicking seems more logical if the idea is to speed up the process for gathering building materials.

Q: Do you think there should be a distinction between Niche and Common blocks?

No, not as far as gathering efficiency goes. Using newer, typically better looking blocks should be in no way hindered. Would you rather see a noob house made of cobble and oak, or a well built house made of modern blocks like blackstone, terracotta and concrete?

Q: Would you like to see a system, perhaps expensive tools paid for with mina, that increase your yield when gathering?

I don't believe one player should have any mechanical advantage over another when it comes to building our proverbial "set". Building should be easy and accessible to everyone.

    CT and Travel:

Q: Would you like to see more Soulstone slots? What are possible benefits / consequences?

I would like to see 3 available slots. My reasoning is from personal experience, I have one to a capital city of my characters nation, one to a village or lair, and another to an alternative RP hotspot for when the first two are quiet.

Q: Would you like to see the return of the Greater Soulstone for purchase from Cloud Temple? What difference should it have?

    Not particularly, no.

Q: Would you like to see a road placed before nations, or a road placed between nations shortly before launch? Why?

Initial roads should follow natural, intuitive paths. Along rivers, through valleys, etc. First comes the dirt road, then the pavement. Roads can always be expanded on, but roads getting to certain cities might be harder to build if the city wasn't built in an entirely logical location.

Q: Should there be a speed boost on the main roads?

    From experience, yes.

Q: Do you foresee any issues with the removal of hubs and reliance on beacons/pillars?

I think we should see a decrease in Soulstone cooldowns as we become more reliant on them for travel. I believe removing hubs will be overall beneficial though.

    Tiles:

Q: Should tiles be uniform in shape or arbitrarily drawn by hand (roughly following geographical features etc.) such as how they are on 8.0 (current)?

I'd argue that 8.0 tiles are not in fact uniform in size at all. More attention needs to be paid to the amount of usable ground space in each tile, and tiles should be as close as possible in size while still falling along natural boundaries. Less than ~10% difference in size should be the goal across the map.

Q: What kind of tile upgrades would you like to see possible?

Mines, lumber yards, clay pits, etc. Things that were promised this map but rarely used should be reasonable to purchase without taking up significant space.

    My Final Thoughts:

One of my biggest grievances over the last few maps has been that there are extensive areas that become almost entirely unusable. Mountains and hilly areas are great for aesthetic and for making the world feel naturally terrained, but they prevent most people from feeling like they can comfortably build on such land without carving away vast swaths of hillside or perching their entire town on a 10 block tall pedestal. Because of the scale of builds on LotC, building with the terrain is usually a lot easier said than done, and still requires significant terraforming while building. I hope the map painters will take this into account while working.
