    44 minutes ago, Minuvas said:

Razad had not passed a even a year ago, and in eternity he was fighting a thousand glorious magical battles in the heavens, in continuous Kaggath against his enemies.

But he paused in his current conquests, a ripple sent across whatever real space he did exist in, pausing to think of the Old Professor. A strange interruption, he thought, that the wizard whom he had found a kindred spirit should suddenly cross his mind - was Amador trying to scry him? Truly, we must continue our conversation where we left off...

Zzzrack! The thunderous crack of an enemy  lightning bolt crashes near his feet, sundering the rock near and interrupts his thoughts. Razad would begin to discharge projectiles of sharpened stone across the battlefield slaying the charging enemy contingency... and...

    THEY SAY HE WAS GRAND.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

sorvian crafting the one i linked

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Sorvians are a construct race  whose body, also known as a 'husk', is comprised of just wood and clay. The wood acts as bone, and the clay flesh, muscles, etc. These husks are capable of being animated via a process known as 'incanting' provided their proportions are kept reasonable, the structure is humanoid and it has two eyes and a mouth hole.

Incanting is a process by which the sculptor creates a porcelain mask and inscribes into its backing an incantation with seemingly no rhyme nor reason in their own blood. A random assortment of symbols, really. By doing this, the sculptor draws upon their soul essence and infuses it within the mask which they can then put onto a husk in order to animate it. You can animate up to three of these bad boys every three months, because the soul grows back (thankfully).

Throw the mask onto a husk, and the two will become one. WARNING!!! REMOVAL OF MASK WILL RESULT IN SORVIAN DEATH!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway. Once the mask is on, you've got yourself an animated, walking, maybe not yet talking, Sorvian that's ready to learn. Playable Sorvians & Newts (short kings) need to be between 3-6 feet, and 2-3 feet respectively. NPC newts are between 1-2 feet tall. If your newly created clay children happen to get injured, die, maimed, so on, so forth, thankfully you're smart enough to know how to repair them. It's an easy, simple process that involves more clay, and more wood. Re-sculpt the missing limb, write an incantation (in your own blood) and it'll re-attach. Small wounds are easier, and just require a blood-clay mix to be applied.

"My clay son, my beautiful baby clay boy, he's dead." is also a solvable problem given that you can take the mask of the old one, put it on a new husk, and watch as it becomes identical to the old one. If you haven't got the mask, hey, don't sweat it - if you really liked your clay person you can bring them back from the dead by recreating the mask they had, and once done, jamming it onto the face of a husk.

As for what Sorvians get to do, they can have multiple limbs but strength is spread equally across them, they do not age, they cannot heal without sculptor help, are less sensitive to pain (it takes way longer to process though), they respect their creator bigly and will do as they ask, and they're very likely to latch onto beliefs, and keep those beliefs. They can also learn sorvian crafting, and can heal themselves out of combat by going through the same processes outlined above

i think i outlined it well please give me TA

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

no read above please thank you

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

A bloodied knife rests on the same table Sarah sits at, having gathered up her own blood with which to create an ink. Her tool with which she'd write was in a shaky hand, wetted with what she'd managed to gather. She sought then to put it against the mask, and pen.

Drawing what focus she could, she begins to write upon the back of the mask in seemingly chaotic patterns, but there is method to her madness. It was with these written incantations that she did touch upon something that she could not quite understand, a foreign sense of cold beginning to claw its way into her.

Weakness soon followed, and the shaking got just a little worse, as fragments of her soul left her to claim refuge in the mask. It was primed to awaken her clay person.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"Once your husk of wood and clay has been created, the last part is easiest. But it requires a certain level of nerve. You must understand that what you are about to create is a living being, infused with a fragment of your very soul. A part of you that will regrow, but this creature shall hold its entire lifetime."

Student McStudent nodded in understanding, a nervous swallow following. Anticipation. They'd waited for this very moment, but even so, the words quelled that sense of desperation. They really wanted a friend.

"It is in blood, and with soul, that their existence is brought forth, and with such it comes to you to draw both of these things out from yourself. First, the blood." She presents a small pot to Student McStudent, and a knife. They understood the assignment, and cut into their arm. They waited for a sufficient amount to pool, before the wound was tended to.

"With this ink, your blood, stain your quill - and write. Cast everything out. Squeeze every last thought until it is throttled, and dead. Clear your head, and write. Write only what comes to your hand, and do not stop until your mind once more fills with thought. It is in the process, that the Sorvian comes to be."

And so the student did just that. Dipping their quill into the ink, they stare at the mask for some time, and yet nothing comes. They stick to the process, however, and as though possessed their hands begin to scrawl. Illegible chaos paints itself in red streaks across the backing of the mask, and a faint shudder overcomes the student.

Weakness overcomes them, sudden and frightening. The student's thoughts returned once more, with faint recollection of what they'd just written. They looked at the chaotic traces, and shook their head... "What... What does it mean?"

"I'unno, beats me. That's just how the magic works." She shrugged.

    Student has obtained 'Incanting'.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

Clarify the redlines, make sure to explain where, why and how they went wrong, ask if they have any further questions, and have them try again.

Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it:

             no lol

Do you agree to keep the ST updated on the status of your magic app?:

             yes

Have you applied to teach this magic on this character before, and had it denied? If so, link the app.

             no

  3. She could have never expected that paper could bear such an impossible weight to it.

Left to reflect on those decisive moments in which Razad impaled himself upon Faeryel's sword, she couldn't have known she'd come to hold in her hands the last will of the now dead Fatebinder. An expectation to be laid upon her, she was sure, that she dreaded to face.

She did not believe that he deserved death, but he had chosen it. It was, after all, by his own will that he sought martial Kaggath as a noble end to his life - to die on his own terms. Why then, did such visceral guilt bury itself within her stomach? With a long sigh, and a deep breath in, she did find strength sufficient enough to read his final words...

A reply maybe only heard by herself and another came after some thought; answering a question with another question. The last conversation they would ever have, and it was addressed with just five words.

". . . Was there ever any doubt?"

    @Lord_of_losers

    Dear Sarah,

I don't know if I ever told you my own name. Though, our conversations struck a chord with me. You, in part, convinced me that I could go on just a little longer. I want you to know, that not every interaction you'll have with those of my ilk will be so productive. I have sought my own redemption. I shall either return cleansed, or leave on my own terms. If you do not know it, my name is Chierae. You were one of the only ones I shared my identities with. Thank you for being my friend.

Receiving the letter, she decided that reading it could wait until she found herself in the comfort of her own home, with a cuppa and a biscuit. Having spotted the more generic letters, she could only assume the very same collector of names was the writer of this letter. The handwriting matched, at least.

Although touched by the short letter, glad to have given Chierae just a little more willpower, she was saddened by its sense of finality. Saddened, because it read as a final goodbye. She could sense that in writing this, the sender likely did not believe they would return cleansed - not of this curse, anyway.

A sigh leaves her body. She rests her cheek against her own hand, propped up on the dining table to support her head. In her left hand, she read the contents a few more times before ultimately coming to terms with what it meant... This was the last time they'd ever speak, and she never had a chance to reply.

Quite a few names she'd known, friends and some good acquaintances, had all met their end recently. Another candle would be lit, joining the company of two others that were nearing the end of their wick. Shutting her eyes, she offered a prayer to the fallen.

"I pray that wherever you are, you are granted mercy. You did not deserve your fate, but life can be a cruel thing. Rest now, and may you find grace in the afterlife." - It was wishful thinking. The letter would be treated as a small treasure, a memento, tucked away and given care.

  5. A blonde Wizard pours one out for the real one Sarrion, on some distant hilltop yet untouched by people. The sun was beginning to set, its honey coloured rays slowly vanishing beneath the horizon. She raises the glass in toast.

"We never really spoke... I regret that, I think. But it's too late now, right?"

"We can't visit the past, and those of us that are left carry on."

"I hope that your last day was a peaceful one."

A tired sigh escapes Sarah as she tips the glass, spilling the contents on the ground below. Come morning, a small mound of rocks is erected in Sarrion's name, and the explorer dubs the isle 'Sarrionland' before departing.

  6. you can just play a wonk anyway the ST can cry but what are they going to to do? ban you?

ok. just eat the ban and keep playing the wonk when ur back lol its not difficult

  7. hi, transfig has enhanced magelight and makes reference to normal magelight, which hasn't been around in a while

i would like to re-add regular magelight, please! you can drop this under imagination in the main voidal conection post if you'd like :)

    Magelight [Combative]

Magelight has long been a staple of magicians, tricksters, wizards and sorcerers, it was only a matter of time until it made a return. The caster is capable of imbuing mana into their aura to brighten it, causing it to shine and illuminate ones surroundings to a limited, harmless extent. This also allows them to alter its colour for the duration of the spell, including having 'dancing lights' that shift colour.

    Spoiler

    Mechanics:

    • [1] Emote to connect + [1] emote to cast.
    • Magelight requires at least one voidal magic at Tier 2 to use.
    • Magelight can be formed within 8m of the caster, and produces light equivalent to a torch.
    • Magelight cannot obscure vision, blind, disrupt, etc.
    • Magelight, once created, can have its colour changed with [1] emote.

    Spoiler

    Redlines:

    • Magelight is entirely harmless.
    • Magelight is temporary, ending when the caster disconnects or chooses to end the spell.
    • Magelight cannot shine bright enough to harm anyone.
    • Magelight is dispelled immediately if it comes into contact with either Thanhium or Null Arcana,
    • Magelight is not brighter at its creation point, meaning it cannot blind people or obfuscate their vision in any way.
    • Magelight cannot create UV / Blacklight. It's normal light.
    • Magelight cannot be made to appear like a normal flame, nor hidden.
    • Magelight can have literally zero combat usage except for providing light in dark places. It's a light spell.
    • Whilst Magelight is active / being focused on, the caster cannot cast any other spells.

co-writer credit to Toodles, we worked really really hard on this lore piece

  8. hi

    - Prosthetics cannot be the heart, brain, prostate, liver, kidneys, intestines, type of gland, stomach, or anything else that would be utterly vital to the function of an individual. Any further prosthetics may be written and added to this lore piece via a lore addition piece.

    original

    Spoiler

Slightly more complex and intricate prosthetics include the likes of eyes and jaws. In the case of jaws, they tend to be the simpler of the two, as they are largely one piece of metal with what little articulation they require being done by the primary vessels. They are prone to rusting, and should they be severely damaged, one’s blood would continue to flow until the broken section was plugged or repaired. They provide no boost to one’s biting strength, and largely function as a mundane jaw. They will likely also impose a lisp or speech impediment of some sort. Eyes are made functionally the same as Visual Modules, and may be inserted into the empty eye socket and kept in place with vessels to perform an identical function - with some Animii crafters choosing to have a metal housing about the eye socket to lend it a sturdier nature. Eyes are particularly fragile, and can easily be strained by whiplash or blunt trauma to the head, causing them to shatter and potentially damage the user. Should it crack or leak, the eye will quickly cease to function and the wearer may feel dizzy as a result of spilling alchemic fluids, albeit there is likely nothing more to come of it beyond loss of sight.  Disorienting effects and sudden light changes will also blind the eye for [1] emote, in addition to the base duration of the blinding effect.

  9. hi, please give us preservation back. thanks.

Auxiliary Sigil - Sigil of Recollection

This Sigil can be carved into an aurum surface no larger than a palm, which may then be pressed against a Golem's Sigil of Memory in order to create a copy of their existing memories from that point. Provided it is not cracked or damaged, and the Golem whose memories are stored has perished, it may then be activated by a Golemancer and pressed against a new core's Sigil of Memory to transfer over the stored information.

Both the 'backup' and 'restore' function of the Sigil take [2] emotes. One to activate, one to backup/restore. Once used, the Sigil will crack, and be rendered useless.

    Spoiler
    • Both the 'backup' and 'restore' process require OOC consent from the player of the Golem whose memories are stored.
    • Preservation Sigils are player-signed, though should be OOCly marked with the date of the Sigil's creation, the Golem it belongs to, and the Golem's player. Any memories after the dated point cannot be restored.
    • Cannot 'restore' whilst the Golem whose memories are stored is still alive.
    • Only one Sigil of Recollection can exist at any given moment for a Golem. That is to say, you cannot make another until the first is used or destroyed.
    • The 'backup' will only ever restore memories from the point a copy was taken.
    • The 'backup' cannot restore memories leading up to a Golem's death, including their death.
    • May only be utilized by an FA Golemancer.
    • Once used, the Sigil is destroyed.
