  1. In an attempt to keep 501 and the Tech Team's blood pressure low, here's some of the bugs/issues I've come across thus far.

Please  post your bugs/issues so they have one place to look. This isn't a complaint thread, just report issues. Thanks!

    15) Mechanical: Right clicking with a training stick does not work.

    16) Crafting: Chef recipes are reported to be unobtainable, even if you have the ingredients. Reported to mainly be affecting new foods.

  2. If you're looking for laid back, freedoms, and no strict guidelines, it's easy to figure out where to go.

Also helps the fact that in almost every build of Sutica, cookiee & @Chamosial always asks for a home, but never has time to actually live in it because they get over involved in other places/on other characters.

*shakes fist at making me build more houses while you promise me you'll decorate your home!*

But seriously, no taxes, no real rules, make a group, be abunch of fishing hobos, go diving for treasure, be guards, be waitresses' at the tavern, spin the wheel at the casino, idc. You know we always have space for you.

  3. The docks of Sutica creaked loudly under the massive feet of Miik. But the cries of the public drowned out the creaking with relative ease.

But these were not cries of fear or terror, but of joy, surprise, and excitement! Children ran from home to home, banging on doors to spread the news; the celebrity Tina Tartrashian has arrived in Sutica!

As "Tina" made her way throughout the streets, people flocked behind her! Artists quickly started upping their prices to create quick sketches of a citizen with "Tina", they dubbed these drawings "Yousies"!

People stood in awe as "Tina" handed a long scroll of names to the Trade Princess, ensuring to take a "Yousie" with her. One middle-aged man screaming, tearing at the hairs on his head, in excitement as his two favorite pin-up females together in one place!

"Tina" finally bids Sutica adieu, her dress of garbage beginning to reek under the tropical sun and heat. As she walked off the public of Sutica waved goodbye, only for a herd of cows to follow here trying to eat her hair.

  4. Just now, Smaw said:

The Goblin stumbled into the searing sands of the Uzg, one of his make-shift heels breaking off and resting in the sand. He quickly threw off the assortment of cloth in a fit of irritation, wiping the sweat from his brow as he continued to hobble along the pathway.

Eventually he made his way before the Rex, a great smirk forming upon his face as he relayed the story. The Rex was pleased with his work, and would send out several other Goblins to assist in the great deception.

Soon a long line of ridiculously dressed individuals would be awaiting to consult with the Trade Princess.

With a smile and a nod, she takes each list from the individuals while closely looking at their choice in outfits and makeups.

She'd turn to her assistant who would be scribbling down on a notepad each outfit and makeup product used.

"Who would have thought of using a mixture of horse dung and green tea to reach such a pungent perfume!" The Trade Princess would exclaim as she takes a note from a hunched back figure that would smile, revealing severely yellowed sharp teeth before hobbling off.

"Madam....." Her assistant would say, with a concerned look as they continued to write down the notes. "I've never seen or heard of these people before....do you think..."

"Hush!" She'd exclaim. "Every citizen deserves a fair chance!" And with that she'd reach for another list given to her.

The assistant would sigh, shaking his head, and continue to write down the obscene combinations of "beauty" products and garments.

  5. 8 minutes ago, Smaw said:

Kharak'Raguk would send out a crafty Goblin to skew the results.

Lilyana is handed a roughly scribbled note by a very strangely dressed "woman". She notes the massive amount of Cactus Green #2 foundation she has spread on her skin and Fresh Halfling Blood Lipgloss and nods in approval at the color coordination.

However she questions the oversized rainboot on the "woman's" left foot and the Neon Orange Heel. As well as the dress that looks like an old shower curtain.

She looks at the list of names, unfamiliar and foreign sounding.

"Hmm, seems I've grown out of touch with the new residents with all the wedding plans. I don't even remember hiring you!"

She thanks the "woman" as they turn and walk off, hobbling back and forth in their incredulous outfit.

  7. Congrats to Taketheshot56!

Their name was drawn from a pool of 53 names and is the winner of the first annual Sutican Citizenship Lottery!

Taketheshot56 joined us in Sutica some time ago. And while he has obligations elsewhere on his persona, he always finds time to stop by the seaside nation to chat. We hope he continues this trend as our community grows, allowing more people to meet such a kind-hearted and jolly dwarf.

We are glad to say that Taketheshot56 embodies an important aspect of LotC that we'd like to see more frequent, the ability for people to co-mingle between different groups and nations without causing drama. As it leads to fun and interesting RP to hear about what the rest of the world is doing from a weary traveler.

Thank you again Taketheshot56! Thank you to all that entered! The next lottery starts on Monday, May 23rd!

  8. Would you be in favour of or opposed to a complete skill wipe? (That means resetting all currently accumulated exp for all professions to zero for all characters)

    No.

Would you be in favour of or opposed to a partial skill wipe? (That means that all currently accumulated exp is scaled back. An example being something like “All Aengulic crafters are now set to Veteran”)

    Yes.

If you are in favour of a partial skill wipe, how far scaling back do you think would be reasonable?

    Depends, explained below.

Would you be in favour of or opposed to no skill wipe at all?

    Depends, explained below.

Can you tell us why you are in favour of a particular system?

Nexus-Skills is far from perfect. I have no issues agreeing with that, as there are many faults to it.

Whether it be long cooldowns that gate you by time and prevent you from having that instant-gratification, allowing you to move onto the next thing. Or whether it be the short cooldowns, that force you to stand next to your work station for hours making items instead of roleplaying. Or whether it be certain items only being accessible to certain groups of players based on regions/biomes. Or whether it be certain items simply not being in the game and developers unaware of this. Or whether it be the huge spike in PvP % weapons and armors for later levels that force players to have a high smith in their group or good OOC relations with one to have a supply of competitive PvP gear. Whether it be at the highest level possible, it still takes hours to feel like you've collected a decent amount of *insert resource*. Or something completely different.

However, Nexus-Skills still brings something unique to the server that many other servers do not have, putting LotC on a different level than other servers. However, the unique and interesting leveling system should not be the core/center of the server's functions, but an add-on. It should not prevent players from doing basic, day to day things, but should also reward those players who do invest their energy and time into it.

These rewards should not be +60% Weapons, because that makes it a necessity to have. Such bonuses should cap out at lower levels. We have increased health to have longer "more exciting" fights, why introduce weapons that 2-hit people then?

I believe the gathering professions, for the most part, are sound. A slight chance at getting a random drop while mining, it isn't game breaking and few feel the /need/ to grind higher for that extra .5% chance of getting an extra glowstone.

I'd like to see some other helpful, non-gamebreaking, bonuses be added to crafting professions. Say for blacksmithing, when you craft a chest plate, there's the chance that it will use one less ingot than normal to make. A simple example that's still a nice bonus, but is not needed to have an even playing field.

A few arguments I've seen being thrown around, A skill wipe will let new people have a fair chance! We'll have new people at the top and in control! New players don't have a chance at getting on the Top 10!.

    All of these are nonsense.

I've been on the server for less than a year. During my first month or so on the server, I was legendary farmer. I then erased my farmer skill, and a few months later I became Demonic Miner. Few months later, Supercal Miner. New players have the exact same chance that I did, the exact same chance that any player has, to level a skill. It simply takes determination and drive.

As for saying we want new people to start fresh, to get all the old people out of the top and in control of the market.... We don't do this for anything else. Nations revolve around the same select group of players that control every movement and thought, magic groups keep their guild locked spells to their cliques and OOC friends. New players have a harder time getting into the actual Roleplay aspects of this server and actually make a difference, than trying to level a skill and getting on the list.

To those that say Nexus-Skills doesn't provide profession RP, its what you make of it. Anytime a new player asks for a job or an item, I direct them to "PlayerX, they run the InsertProfession shop in town. You can get what you need/you can learn the trade from them." If you don't want to do that/feel its a waste of your time, that's your decision to leave an avenue for potential RP to go underutilized.

At the end of the day I'd like to see Nexus-Skills reworked. I'd like it to maintain its framework as it helps set LotC from other servers. However, I'd like to see the bonuses, the cooldowns, the numbers in generally really, all looked at closer and adjusted. I feel some basic things should be available to all players, like construction blocks, and encourage those die-hard grinders to go for that slight bonus instead of the entire player base feeling the need to grind to just be on par as to everyone else.

As said before by others, if you do wipe skills completely, those at the top will simply grind to the top once more. It's what we do, it's what we enjoy.

As always, I'm more than willing to sit and talk and test numbers, experience, and bonuses to help ensure a fair and fun(ctional) plugin is provided. I'd like to see some of the data I was asked to collect for hours and my comments/suggestions actually be used as well.

(Gonna stop before I start rambling too much from sleep deprivation.)

Cam we all take a minute to appreciate the arguement I had last month about ooc skills? The one where I got shot down for calling people out for having characters that don't follow RP when it comes to skills? Like SquirtGun who has 2-3 SuperCal skills on a 19 year old character?

My character isn't 19 years old.

Nor was she 19 years old a month ago.

My character's age is set to the age she would appear in RP as she's an Elf.

It's not nice asking a lady her age.

  10. Princess Lilyana is pleased to hear of Prince Mylas' shopping ventures. She lifts the threats of paying off the council members, and sends Prince Mylas another list. The list would contain a request for Iron, Carrots, Ruby Red Pumps Size 2, and diapers.

  11. Princess Lilyana's eye gaze over the letter, small fires growing behind them. Princess Lilyana begins sending out letters to all possible council members, promising to make them wealthy to not attend this silly council! Such arrangements will end, should Prince Mylas be allowed to finish the shopping list!

  13. I'd rather see the rules for individual lockpicking and thieving be reworked and made useful before something like this is put into effect.

What exactly qualifies as a "target"?  The vault of a castle? Granny's cookie jar? The basement of an alchemist's lab?

What can exactly be taken? Blocks put down for obvious decoration and RP immersion? Only the contents of chests? Both?

TnT is allowed in a heist, something made to be NOT as big as a warclaim, but you can't use TnT in most warclaims?

What of the griefing nature that the TnT will cause to the structure?

Will there be a limit of how many "thieves" are able to attend a heist? You say you want it to be discrete, but if a group of people charge into a "secret stash" area that's no discrete.

In keeping it discrete, players are going to log on to see their homes/vaults/valuables taken and griefed? Forcing players to stay online and in their secret stash areas to protect them?

One of the biggest complaints on the server right now is how long it takes to acquire things, whether it be from gathering, crafting, /modreqs, or through RP means. Someone made a comment about how long it takes to acquire a good sword, saying it takes hours to acquire the materials and time to make it. Now items that are finally acquired are going to be stolen in mass amounts, with TnT that griefs, when they're offline and can't do anything about it?

I'm in favor of RP, villany RP as well, but the small thieving rules and interactions should be reworked and fixed to be made useful before large scale, grieifng as well, thievery takes place.

  14. Congrats to BlueTigerPro!

Their name was drawn from a pool of 47 names and is the winner of the first annual Sutican Citizenship Lottery!

BlueTigerPro joined us in Sutica roughly two weeks ago and since then has proven to be an active and reliable part of our community. If he's sitting around city square or furnishing his new ocean-view home, he's always friendly and available to help those in need.

We are glad to say that BlueTigerPro embodies the message of friendliness, community, and fun that Sutica strives to provide for the LotC Community.

Thank you again BlueTigerPro! Thank you to all that entered! The next lottery starts on Monday, May 15th!

    Potential Job Opportunity

Due to popular request by its citizens, the government of Sutica offers the following position:

    Position: Pet Store Owner(s)

    Location: Isles of Sutica

Job Requirements: Care, maintain, and sell pets of varying type to customers. Offer tips to raise a perfect pet. Act as a veterinarian when needed. etc.

Resources Available: A shop is available for you to sell your animals, and a farm/ranch will be built to needs should you be selected. The government will also help you secure your first breeding pairs.

Salary: Whatever you make through your work is yours to keep. The government of Sutica will also pay an amount yearly ((1000 Minas weekly)) should you remain active in the community and provide unique, interesting and an approvable amount of roleplay to people within Sutica.

Additional Notes/ OOC info: Sutica is in possession of many animals, but we're looking for an individual or group to provide animal/pet RP to our community. This can and should include RP about buying and selling of animals, whether livestock or wolves or cats, but also go onto providing care tips, diet tips, exercise plans, create contests and events for animals and their owners - such as a dog show or horse jumping contest-, etc.

We are looking for an individual or group that can handle a demand for all types of animals, including wolves and cats, so you may want to ensure your breeding skill is high enough to breed them, or obtain a way to secure such animals when you need them.

we are also looking for an individual or group to go beyond mechanical pets and utilize RP and RP custom heads. Should someone wish to buy a bird or turtle, utilize custom heads from Cloud Temple and sell them as pets, but create fun and imaginative actions and RP for the pets. An example of this would be: [!] The turtle ducks its head into its shell, shy and afraid of its new owner!

Money will be given to the individual that takes up this unique role to purchase breeding pairs of animals, as well as numerous custom heads. We want you to succeed and are willing to invest just as much in you as your willing to invest in the role. We hope to work with you and have a great time!

How to Apply: Please approach Trade Princess Lilyana, Lord Mylas, and/or Steward Shynys to show your interest in the position. Or hang an application under this notice with the following information:

    MC Name:
    RP Name:

Times of Activity/When Are You Normally On:

Do You Have A Home Yet?:

What Experience Do You Have In This Position?:

  16. Alrighty, I did the first 100 you had listed @Fireheart

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PAZfsUrW3E70H3Qz9CfPZvxCbxHp2TqcXCo1O9FgryQ/edit?usp=sharing

I cross checked names with forum names and MC names to the best of my ability.

Only 21/100 Players (Less than a fourth) that were accepted this past month have been active within the past 10 days.

Of these 21, the players are currently playing as 11 Humans, 5 Dwarves, 4 Elves, and 1 Orc.

As an interesting side note, 4 of these 21 were accepted as a different race than they are currently playing.

1 Human is now playing a High Elf

1 Elf is now playing as an Orc

1 Elf is now playing as a Dwarf

1 Kha is now playing as an Elf

While this information may or may not be important due to multiple personas and this just taking a snapshot of what they're currently playing, it's interesting to see where people planned on starting at and where they currently are on at least one persona.
