  1. Glynfir was somewhat caught off guard upon receiving the news. He had suspected that they might retire entirely at some point, but had not anticipated that such a time had arrived. The news caused him to reflect on his own journey. The fall of the Republic had presented him with a choice that he had originally wanted to avoid making. The choice could not be ignored of course. It had only been through the kindness and patience of Ellisar and Aestenia that he had made the right choice and fled to Haense to join them. He had gained more than just a safe haven however. Adoption into the Aevaris Talonnii had given him something he'd never had before, a family. They had also taught him what a family truly was, never failing to be there when he'd needed aid. These memories brought a rare smile to his countenance. "Good for you both. None deserve the rest more. You know you can find me around if needed. Retirement has never suited me."

  2. Glynfir allowed a wide grin to cross his face for the first time in a long while. Haense hadn't forgotten. Justice was still to be pursued. The Republic would be avenged. A brief wave of regret did cross his mind for those he had known and served alongside who remained within the Silver walls. Leaving all one had ever known wasn't easy. He hoped they would see the truth before it was too late.

  3. A lone figure halted in his wanderings as the letter arrived. This had not been expected. A summons from kin. Petrel had been content to forge his own path for some time now. Yet, this was worth following, and so he altered his course. It was time to go home.

  4. Theroden shakes his head in disgust as word spreads of the true depths of Imperial savagery. Seated in the  tavern, his gaze moves about to the gathered denizens, peaceful folk who simply sought to live their lives without fear. "This is why there can be no compromise with the Horenites. Their claims of a righteous war are only a mask, a lie used as an excuse to terrorize innocents. What manner of peace can ever be achieved with such folk? Mayhaps if they would at the least acknowledge the misdeeds of their hired blades, one could respect some of them." He shakes his head as he muses further. "No, not even that would be enough. There must be recompense, though it won't fully repair what's been done."

  5. Glynfir took the news delivered by Zelios with a solemn nod and a collected demeanor. When Zelios departed however, he retreated within his apartment. Pouring himself a drink of ale, he raised it towards the window that granted him a view of the horizon. "Here's to you then, sir. We are more alike than I realized at first. Though we clashed at first, you became the one I've looked to in the worst of times. You never gave up on me, even when I had given up on myself. I wish you nothing but peace and happiness. Silver and Blue. Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya!" Usually a man of few words, Glynfir found himself moved at the resignation. He would spend a fair amount of time brooding afterwards. Old memories flooding back.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Most souls pass on across the relative center of the Elysian Wastes to their determined fate. Some resist and are stuck in the Elysian Wastes until they yield and go to their determined fate. Still others miraculously continue to resist and become phantoms A phantom is composed of ectoplasm. This substance anchors the soul to an ethereal form. The ectoplasm gives the phantom a signature energy. The manifestation of this energy can vary depending on the soul controlling it. Ordinary objects usually pass right through ectoplasm and the item may even vanish from view.  All phantoms suffer from mental illnesses, depression and asocialness being shared traits.  Any further mental illness varies by the individual, some even have multiple afflictions. Exposure to sun slowly increases in the pain it inflicts upon them until it is unbearable, though not lethal. Aurum has varying effectiveness depending on its application. A solid barrier entirely blocks forward movement while more hastily made barriers only cause pain and eventually drive them off. Voidal magic acts similarly to aurum in that it can interact with ectoplasm like a normal mortal form. Both a voidal spell and an attack with aurum can cause a phantom to demanifest.

These returning souls become revenants, which are new born ghosts. Revenants are greyscale beings with shifting forms that reflect their muddled sense of themselves. It will be somewhat difficult for them to be recognized but not impossible. Wounds that reflect their manner of death are featured upon them and their voices  are like an emotionless echo.  They are forced to simply watch life as they are incapable of real interaction with the world. Their emotions tend to be erratic as they have not come to terms with the situation they find themselves in. They usually end up clinging to whatever mental illness manifests as their guide until they can understand more of who they are.

Upon discovering that they are dead, their reaction determines what path they take. Poltergeists result from those who are unwilling to accept their death and become fueled by rage. They are more grotesque and their death wounds are even more apparent. They have fallen to the greatest depths of mental illness due to being unable to cope with or accept being dead. They are quite volatile and their appearances reflect such, hinting at the manner of their death in much more dramatic ways. They are not necessarily evil, but they are guided by raw emotion and instinct much like an animal. Some semblance of who they once were might be able to surface through the storm of emotion, but not a lot.

Specters occur when the soul accepts their death and turns to a more positive view. They bear no reminders of their death and are of lighter colors, namely white, blue, yellow, or green. They appear somewhat like they were, though sometimes with strange differences. Their voices are more settled and softer. They are better able to tolerate direct sun, though it won’t be comfortable. Depression and aloofness still occur but they also are kind and willing to help others.

A graven results from a pressure of needing to continue a task that they feel must be completed. Their goal might be impossible to complete, or even a repeated task. The strength of their obssesion causes them to be more anchored to the mortal realm. No marks of their manner of death manifest and they seem normal apart from their skin being like glass in a dark shade of grey, green or purple. Their voice and strength are retained from when they were alive but their strength cannot change. They don’t face depression or anxiety unless their task is no longer able to be performed.

  8. Upon Anastasia’s arrival in the Seven Skies, a familiar voice calls out to her, “Ana!” Martín Capet runs over to her, smiling widely, “I’ve missed you more than you know. I’m sorry you’ve had to pass on, but now you can rest. You deserve it more than anyone I know. Thank you for everything.”

  9. Martín, the young lord of House Capet greets Harold upon his arrival in the seven skies. Though they only met briefly, the boy considers him one of the few friends he had in his very short life. Though they had fought on opposing sides of the war, Martín respected Harold's wisdom and believed him to be an honorable man. He felt Harold was one of the few he could discuss the war truthfully with.  He waves, smiling, which had been a rare sight from the cynical lad. "Welcome, ser. Though I'm sorry you had to pass on, I'm glad you're here. I look forward to exchanging war stories again."

  10. Antal wanders across Atlas with very little left to lose, his friends and family all either gone or scattered to the winds. The events of the Coalition war continue to plague his mind, causing him to wonder if he could have done more to help save  his people. The names and faces of those he knew haunt him ceaselessly.
