  1. What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: Steamlocomotive How old are you?: 19 Are you aware the server is PG-13 (You won’t be denied for being under 13): Yes Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Yes What’s the rule you agree with the most?: No power and/or meta-gaming Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense? (If so we can help clear it up! You will not be denied for having a question on the rules): Nope! How did you find out about Lord of the Craft? I've known about it for a while by word of mouth from other role-playing communities. Definitions Feel free to Google the answers or browse our forums, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person! What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is the act of assuming the role of a character whose goals, limitations/abilities, and personality are a product of imagination and choice by the player, yet is completely independent of the player's OOC beliefs, feelings, and goals. What is metagaming?: Metagming is the act of using information gained OOC in an IC situation when the character in question would have no access to the information via RP, whether it directly benefits your character or not. This includes abusing mechanics such as name plates to locate a character, or using information learned via the forums and not RP. What is powergaming?: Powergaming is the act of abusing the emote system (and possibly other in-game mechanics such as block jumping) to give your character an unfair or unrealistic advantage. For example, imagine a 13 year old character found himself in a conflict with a roadside bandit. The bandit is armed with a long steel sword and says, "Welcome to the neighborhood! *firmly holds his sword in an offensive position. "There's a toll on this here road."" If the boy character emoted "*runs away, really, really fast" and simply left using in-game mechanics, that would be power-gaming, because the player in question did not give the bandit character a chance to react via RP. Another example would be if the character in question emoted "*quickly stabs the mugger with a blade that was hidden in his sleeve." This emote also takes away the other character's ability to react by forcing an outcome. A better way to do that emote would be to say "*quickly attempts to stab the mugger with a blade concealed within his sleeve." Now the other player has the option to respond to your character as they see fit. However, this is still a considerably power-gamey thing for a thirteen year old boy with no proper training to attempt. A proper emote would probably look like "*stumbles back in terror before trying to run past the bandit." Every party should always have the chance to react to every aspect of the situation. The two opposing player's goal's should not to be the winner of the situation, rather to create a fun and immersive role-play dialogue that should leave every player involved satisfied In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play. Character’s name: Gierdon Peatberry Character’s sex: Male Character’s race: Halfling Character’s age: 21 Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.): In his earlier years, Gierdon and his family lived a city-dwelling, yet humble life. His parents ran a small bakery within Felsen. There they sold traditional halfling breads and baked goods using ingredients directly imported from the fields of Dunwood. Early in his life Gierdon assisted his family with the general operation of the bakery. He battered the eggs, washed the dishes, kept the furnace fired and the shop nice and clean. By the time he was sixteen years old he had a firm grasp on the basics of the art of halfling baking and had many of his family's recipes mostly memorized by heart, though he never spent prolonged times baking for the shop. However, around that age his father fell ill and no longer was able to make the necessary journey from Oren's capital to Dunwood. From then on it was Gierdon's responsibility to traverse the long dangerous roads outside the safety of the human's city walls. He quickly learned that the world beyond stone towers and walls was rough and unforgiving. He seldom traveled in the middle of the road, often preferring to hide under the dim-lit, low-hanging branches of roadside trees. Due to family ties back in Dunwood, and the generous nature of halflings, Gierdon and his father procured most of his ingredients at little expense. Gierdon could show up to the village with a pocket full of minas only to walk away with a pack full of overstocked wheat and not a mina less (though he always had to pay someone stronger or with a horse to haul the pumpkins back). The pricing of his father's goods often reflected that fact, as he never wanted a costumer to pay more than he could afford, nor did he ever allow a good soul to leave his shop in hunger. However, this practice often attracted the cities poorest and most desperate individuals. The bakery's clientele often consisted of beggars and thieves. Conflicts that arose from patrons in and around the bakery thus were often settled with violence despite the families constant effort for peaceful resolution. These situations were frequent, often racist in nature, and typically ended poorly. It became increasingly harder for the family to handle the bakery's day-today operations as his father grew sicker. They were never financially savvy enough to afford additional employees, and the workload seemed to grow bigger and bigger each day. Despite their obstacles, his father never gave up and the shop's doors never closed until he passed away nearly five years after falling ill. After his father's death Gierdon and his mother decided it was time to call it quits and sold the family business to a local startup entrepreneur for a modest sum. His mother has now settled down by herself and lives off the acquired minas in a quaint home on the nice side of Felsen. For Gierdon, however, little more can be said, as his true story has only now begun. Personality Traits: Extremely caring and generous, yet often distrusting of people he's just met. He typically avoids being negative, and tends more towards melancholy (albeit sometimes over-dramatic) than anger. Ambitions: Gierdon wants nothing more than to live out a peaceful existence and to give a little more to the world than he takes. Strengths/Talents: Gierdon's main talent would be avoiding conflict and putting a smile on people's faces. He's also a decent baker. Weaknesses/Inabilities: Gierdon is a terrible liar. He can't lie to save his life. He's also never learned how to swim and is deathly afraid of lightning.
