    Introduction:

Felsen is, above all, the capitol of the Holy Oren Empire and home to the Emperor himself. Established early in the settling of Vailor, this extravagant and impressive city is a symbol of human perseverance  and strength. For those looking to take a look at Felsen and perhaps become a citizen of this great imperial city, here is a guide on the places to know and the people to meet in the crown jewel of the Empire!

    Felsen Farmlands and Dour Watch:

When arriving from another land or simply taking a cart from The Cloud Temple, you will first see the many vast fields of wheat, watermelons, pumpkins, and carrots that surround the city itself, the farmers of the Empire keeping their crops up to the highest standard year-round. Towards the city limits, you will find the array of carts and carriages awaiting to carry you to the major duchies and counties located in the Empire, Courland & Leone being places that I would recommend visiting after settling in our fair city! On your way towards the city gates, be sure to gaze upon our Statue of Establishment, after perhaps you might take some tea in Miss Aurabella Grey's Tea House!

Main Street and Saint Emma's Bastille:

After passing through the grand gates of Felsen, you will come upon the main street of the city, lined with shops and businesses fit for any taste. If you're in need of medical assistance after a long journey, visit the Felsen Clinic run by Vlad and Vanessa Shade. If you need to store mina or take out a loan, visit the large Bank of Marin, newly opened and ready to serve you. As you visit these places and take a look at the many stalls that can be found along the street as well, you might come upon the great military fortress known as Saint Emma's Bastille. This place is home to the Felsen Watch, a sworn brotherhood of men who seek to protect the city from all harms and danger. The Commandant and his men are always on patrol, so feel free to report anything strange you might see around the city, or simply just say hello!

Felsen Square and The Three Districts:

The Felsen Square is filled to bursting with stalls and carts where merchants sell their wares, varying from simple leather scraps from diamonds mined from deep within the ground. The city's tavern can also be found here, always offering a new beverage or two to satisfy a thirsty traveler. Off the square, the three districts can be found. Copper Court, the poorer area of the city and where most peasantry and low-pay workers can be found. Many thieves live in this area, so most would recommend you steer clear of this area.  Steel Lane, where the middle class resides in relative comfort. Many here often work at the Palace, own a shop in the city, or are members of the Felsen Watch. And finally The Gold District, the wealthiest area of the city and where most burghers live. Though no shops are in this area, it is the cleanest of the three, and also hold Saint Daniel's Church. People of note who live here are the holy Father Charles Horen, the notorious Gwyn Warlai, and occasionally the Archbishop.

    The Imperial Palace - Ancelcourt:

Behind the city square, with gates shut tight, lies the Imperial Palace of House Horen and the Empire. Known to all as Ancelcourt, this grand abode is home to the Imperial Family and it's court. Many public hearings, trials, and appointments are held here, and the throne room is always bustling with life and, if you're ambitious, intrigue as well. The gardens of the Palace are it's crowning jewel, filled with lush plants and flowers to suit every taste. If allowed inside, the Palace rooms are grand as well, the Dining Hall and the Emperor's chambers being the greatest rooms of note.

    The Felsen Docks:

Located right next to Copper Court is the docks and shipyard of Felsen, erupting with ships and small boats to take you to lands far and unheard of. Trade is often conducted here, but like in the Copper District, beware of the potential false sailor or thief.

A letter tied with a blue ribbon, bearing no name nor sigil, would appear to accompany the fliers advertising the expedition, though it was canceled. It reads as follows.

    --------

    Gwyndolyn Warlai,

Though you have canceled this expedition, I highly doubt you are done trying to ascend to nobility. You and your kin have proved to be ambitious and scheming, waiting for the first chance to elevate yourselves in the eyes of men. I urge you to stop. Not only is it unattractive to the rest of Valior, we can see right through your intentions. You only arranged this trip of yours to 1) spite your kin, which has been executed, and 2) to gain land and respect. Despite what you say, your intentions were never to scout out the area for our Emperor. You speak as if you already own Cascadia.

This has not been your only attempt at elevating yourself. You also have also aspired to become a handmaiden in the Orenian palace in order to attempt to seduce our good Emperor. The Creator frowns upon such acts of adultery, yet you were so ready to do whatever it takes to become a noble. You even try to make powerful friends without knowing anything meaningful about them besides their money and their stature.

It is time that you realize that enough is enough. You want respect? Earn it rather than trying to find a quick and easy solution to sate your lust for power. You want land and titles? Forget yourself and put others before; due rewards will come in time.

Gwyn, whilst pulling down more signs for burning, sees the letter and recognizes the blue ribbon. "Even the Dove Maiden dislikes me. But what she says is wrong. I have given up on these ambitious ideas, I want to earn back my respect." She takes the letter, tying it back up and placing it in her pocket.

Gwyn Warlai sat in front of her hearth, burning the signs she had made only a day before. Mumbling, she throws two, three, then five in at one time, the "Quest for Cascadia" curling and crumbling as the fire engulfs it. "Another idea, gone to hell." she shrugs, throwing in another pile. Being dead for a while wasn't so bad, but now she had revealed herself by posting these signs, and it worried her. "They thought me dead, now what will I do?"

When all the signs are burned, she rises and goes to pour herself a drink from a decanter on the table. Taking a few sips, her head is already swimming. "I haven't had wine in so long," she whispers, "Am I drunk already?" Setting down the glass, she looks out the window. The city of Felsen was loud today, as usual, and it smelled of warm food. "I am done with this social climbing." She wraps her hand around something on the sill, a small wooden star made by her father so long ago. She looks at, wrapping her fingers around it, before throwing from the window. "I did all of this for Father, soiled my reputation for a promise to Father." She begins to tear. Her father, Phineas Warlai, had wanted her to rise high under any means, to spite the merchant he knew was coming to kill him. She had not wanted to, but what could she say to a man that was, unbeknownst to her, murdered only a few days later. "I need to begin anew, I need to restore myself and my reputation." She nods to herself, thinking of her friend, Renee de Aryn. "Renee, that is who I need to help right now. My only friend." She nods, turning to retrieve her cloak and begin her walk to the de Aryn Manor.

(OOC): Yes, her ambitious angle is over. It has greatly effected her storyline and, after her return and realizing that people still don't think to highly of her, I think she will be going the more genuine route.

  4. Sylas Myrrdin sits in his hovel in Drusco, hearing of this diet from a friend. "Perhaps, as a steward, I will be able to attend these kinds of things," He chuckles, "If I can rid myself of this damn lute!" He pulls out the instrument he had just damned, strumming a new tune on the strings.
