~ King Robert Barbanov Commemoration Feast ~

Iv Joveo Ehr 7th of Sigismund’s End, 1707

Though the departure of the late king Robert Barbanov has brought sorrow to the hearts of many who served and resided within and without the Kingdom of Haense, time moves swiftly and we near the anniversary of his passing already. Lest we forget the contributions of Robert’s labors towards guiding Kingdom of Haense through the tough times of the upheaval and moving of an entire nation as well as rebuilding the Kingdom of Haense into its current state of prosperity, the Crown of the Kingdom of Haense has seen fit to host a commemoration of Robert’s life and his works for all to partake in the memory of the late king.

In the coming days of Tobias’s Bounty, the Crown of Haense will host a celebration in Reza at the Prikaz, held within the feasting hall. The event is open for all who wish to partake in a haeseni feast, designed by Princess Nataya Barbanov herself, and in celebration of Robert’s memory and achievements. The proceedings will be initiated by the recently crowned king and son of the late king, Marius Barbanov, opening with words on the memory of his late father, after which all will be invited to partake in the feast and accompanying festivities. Throughout the event, in memory of Robert’s economic efforts, a lottery will be held. Lots will be purchasable for ten mina for a prize of a wagon full of iron. It is the Crown’s wish that the winner will be able to utilize the winnings to undertake their own economic endeavors with the same spirit that Robert once held. All proceeds will be donated to the church in Robert’s name after the event. The commemoration will conclude with the announcement of the contest winner alongside closing words from king Marius. The Crown hope for all who wish to celebrate the life of Robert to attend and join in the celebration of a life well lived.

  2. I dont get why people think a tech lock on a fantasy server is such a bad thing. While I admit I like the system you proposed, rp combat is enough of a mess already that I don't think this is needed, seems more like wish fufillment trying to be justified with reasons rather than an actual benefit to the server and theme, and ultimately I wouldn't support firearms unless an overwhelming majority of the server from varied groups wanted them.

  4. Seems decent enough, only in practice will we know if the finer numbers work out. I’d say the defender fort business might have some clarification, what about pre war structures, will there be a irl weekly upkeep on a fort if Nation A builds it in peacetime as a defensive measure? Will random baronies and tribal camps count as defensive camps? Or will it simply be the fact if you have payed upkeep on it recently? I do like the idea of baronies / keeps requiring a monthly war team payment as “maintenance fees”, would give reason not to dot the countryside with them unless the owner of the keep assigned by the tile owner / the nation itself could maintain the money for having it around.

All in all I like the direction of the changes, just hope we see some general updates and changes with time as it plays out next map as well.

I’d also consider some kind of standing army bonus? I don’t know how to describe this but perhaps if a nation has RP proof of having a strong military RP presence for some months, they might receive a slight buff at the start of a war, like an extra tile to move their first turn or something to represent that expertise.

Nexus in Axios only promoted employment by promoting grinding. Even then, most people were only Self-Employed or produced goods for their community without personal benefits for doing so. The best way to promote jobs is to promote situations in RP that require people to be hired by others for a wage, not fluff around with crafting/grinding systems.

And for New Players, I’d love to see more role playing guides put out by the community.

Not trying to defend the grind that was leveling up in nexus even though i dove headfirst into it, but nexus did promote tons of jobs outside of grinding. I did quick business running both a blacksmith and mining, some of it rp’d others assumed, even though I didn’t rp out every transaction, it really did help me feel like a blacksmith instead of the guy in charge of getting iron stuff. I really feel that vanilla crafting is a disservice to the player base at large.

I know this is a roleplay server at heart, but a bit of functionality around roleplay really helps bring it to life and make it feel more connected overall. The biggest thing I miss from nexus was the weight of resources, stuff was harder to make and therefore more marketable, without some sort of nexus system I don’t think the server will ever have much of an economy beyond selling iron and bread, building stuff on the new map, and the occasional rp stuff. I’d rather die than grind up again though, liked the choices and scarcity imposed by nexus not the time invested required.

Also in my opinion the biggest affront to lack of an economy to jump into at a new player level is limited creative. Popping in massive cities and forts really kills any need to buy niche blocks / materials / tools and players to gather such rarities and quantities. Luckily the new map nation system seems to be resolving this decently enough if it is implemented as advertised.

  6. I feel everyone should take a glance over the lore and ongoing of the server before joining, but I feel a lot of people would rather not do that. So some sort of abbreviated lore guide to help a player fit in a little better could be nice. This would probably be a bit of work to keep up on but keeping it semi current could help players get right into things. Stuff like nation names / locations, names rulers of nations, current ongoing issues such as wars and staff events, and other stuff could be updated semi regularly to help a player integrate into the world quicker. I’d also include a brief history of the current world if possible, mainly notable world events and the like. This could give context to a new player about a group trying to recruit them prior to joining and suddenly wondering why another player group is now actively trying to kill them. The entire thing could be like 2 pages of a google doc that is updated from time to time.

If something like this already exists then apologies, haven’t been a new player in while.

  7. Lorin hastily snatches the ink and paper off the desk of the stationary store he was eyeing before anyone notices, quickly penning a letter in somewhat sloppy script before stuffing the letter in his shirt as he smuggled it out of the store before the clerk could return from the storeroom. The sloppy and somewhat crumpled piece of parchment would read thus as Lorin sought out a means to send it cheaply

”Theodosian Imperial Academy, I pray your institution would accept one of my standing, I seek to better my lot in life as well as those of others, and hope you will be my means to fulfill my ambition. I will admit my current understanding of the scholarly lifestyle is meager, but you will not find my fire for betterment guttered by such a start. I eagerly await admittance.”

  8. I had the name Silver on some game forever ago, but couldn't get such a common name on bigger games so I kept adding stuff. Silverstatic turned out easy to get and I like how it sounds.

Doesn't seem to stop everyone from reading it as silvers - tastic for some reason though.

  9. Wonderful post, some great ideas here. Children are a wonderful gateway to sections of RP you haven't experienced before so its a shame to see people fall into the edgy orphan trope. If you are RPing with a child as a parent or close companion, give them things to go on, just posing some more mundane situations can really help flesh out their character significantly and be a lotta fun in the process. Don't go around adopting a child on a whim, that player is expecting some commitment on your part to some rp regularly, not just a chest in your house.
