"Finally they show the public what happens to heathens such as Napier," declared Anne, almost spitting out the name she felt so much disgust for. "A most unnatural union - one that has produced half-breeds that still run about. They should excommunicate those vile creatures as well! An orc should stay an orc and a human should stay a human just as a dwarf should remain dwarven and elfs should remain elven."

A familiar Mali'ame flashes her new outfit for her dear friend.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Sun Chi

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Chi monks use the mana within themselves as fuel to augment their abilities. In addition to doing so, they are able to see living or dead mana around them, as well as the general emotional atmosphere to some extent. Chi Feeling, while initially causing sensory overload and a great deal of headaches, can eventually be used as a replacement for sight by master monks.

In order to become a chi monk, one must not be a dark artist or a void mage. Either of those must undergo the Ritual of Purification to remove the corruption from their souls. Chi, however, is compatible with most deific magics and anything that does not affect the soul's integrity.

When channeling chi to use a spell, monks are able to continue attacking, defending, and moving just as normal. The only way for their connection to be disrupted is if they get knocked out or stunned by a hit. The 'tell' for channeling occurs in varying shades of red (if a sun monk) or blue (if a moon monk), but you're allowed some degree of aesthetic choice in how you choose to present it in particular.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Chi is divided into two sects, sun and moon. You can only pick one path of chi. Moon is more so centered on healing and defensive capabilities, whereas sun is geared toward offensive and combative encounters. Both types of monks, however, perceive the flow of chi the same way.

Moon Chi is more ritualistic in nature, relying on purified chi pools that can be prepared by either sun or moon monks (though interestingly, only the latter is able to perform such rituals).

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Mantis Stance

[1] As Leihana watched the archer in the distance load the crossbow with a bolt, she pressed her hands together. Her eyes suffused with a deep crimson glow, tendrils of mist coursing down her arms in spirals.

[2] Next, she focused on bringing the mist to her hands, now folded in front of her as if she was deep in prayer. Rhythmic incantations escaped her lips as she channeled the energy further, expression strangely serene despite what others would see as apparent doom awaiting her. Leihana made no effort to run or even take cover.

[3] Just as the archer readied their aim and was about to shoot, Leihana's hands unfolded and her arms outstretched.

[4] With the arrow sailing toward her, she swiftly moved her left hand to catch the arrow mid-air!

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Swift of Foot - Tier 2

"This trick's good to use when you're in a pinch, when you need to get up really quickly. If you're not in combat, I wouldn't expend your chi on it. Save this for semi-emergencies, right?" Leihana explained, moving closer as she placed a gentle hand upon her student's shoulder. "Begin to channel your energies, the chi. Aim it toward your legs for this ability, called swift of foot."

Leihana lingered where she was as reddish mist seeped out of her acolyte's eyes, beginning to descend. Just as they did so, the 'ame shoved them down, the surprise element of it counteracting the need to use an excess amount of force.

"Now get up! You can do it. Push that chi downwards, envision it going to your legs and your feet." Her encouraging tone was a stark contrast from the fact that she'd pushed her student, and she stepped away afterwards to allow them ample room to get up.

After a moment's pause, the student lunged up from their fallen position, grinning broadly at Leihana.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Earth Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

After long hours of practicing one's voidal connection, along with studying the general makeup of an element, one is able to create a mimicry of it. They have the same effect on the natural world, but vanish as soon as concentration is broken. Their effects linger, however. If a conjured boulder smashes a door down, the door will remain smashed down even when the (artificial) boulder disappears. Earth evocation cannot control pre-existing materials, only things conjured from the void. Metals are unable to be created at all!

There are plenty of ways that one can conjure earthen particles to non combative use. Combative spells, on the other hand, have stricter parameters. The arsenal of spells include, along with their summaries:

    • T1 - Sand Blast. It functions as a good distraction, but causes no lasting damage.
    • T2 - Impede: Allows you to slow down an opponent by summoning mud around their feet. Causes no damage.
    • T2 - Earthen flurry: By launching a flurry of pebbles at an opponent, you can distract them from casting or doing any other high-concentration task. It does no damage beyond simple bruises or tiny cuts.
    • T2 - Earthen Projectile: Can be either blunt or sharp (the latter requiring further emotes) to be launched. About the size of a softball.
    • T3 - Earthen spikes can act as deterrents or even traps, piercing through those unlucky enough to be unarmored nearby.
    • T4 - Earthen wall: Self explanatory. Vulnerable to blunt attacks, but strong against slashing.
    • T4 - Boulder: Also self explanatory. It won't necessarily kill a person, but if hit badly enough, it will knock someone out of commission for the duration of the fight.
    • T5 - Earthen cyclone: Raining chunks of earth. It is exhaustive and basically used as the nuclear option.
    • T5 - Sandstorm: self explanatory

[1] Jieru gazed forward, hazy expression belied by the intense focus she had on bringing forth the elements. Her eyes, normally a light shade of lavender, began to glow a deeper blue as her connection to the void solidified.

[2] As she thrust her hands forth, a swirling mass of sand increasing in velocity would emerge in the empty space in front of Jieru. There was no one present to witness the spectacle, given this was merely practice.

[3] The sand, upon reaching maximum velocity with each hand gesture Jieru made, amounted to a veritable sandstorm inhibiting vision for any unlucky enough to be caught within.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"You're reasonably adept at maintaining a voidal connection, so this shouldn't be too hard for you," Jieru explained. "This is the sand blast spell, not able to actually harm a person beyond mild discomfort. It's quick and works as a good distraction, enough to daze someone. Back in the Attenlund, for instance, some creatures were trying to climb up a wall so I threw the sand into their eyes. While the sand itself didn't harm them, they wiped at their eyes and thus lost balance. There's a lot of ways you can be creative with it. Might make someone drop what they're doing, which is tremendously useful if they're holding onto something important. Like a ladder."

"Now tap into that connection of yours, and envision grains of sand. Imagine it swirling around at in circles, increasing in speed." After connecting, tiny grains of sand proceeded to wrap around the student's hand, spinning in an orbit.

"And... pull your hand back before sending it forward, launching the sand in front of you!" With minor deliberation, the student obliged, sending their hand forward to throw the sand toward the empty space ahead. It lingered on the ground for a few moments before vanishing into thin air, as soon as connection was broken.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Druidic Communion

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Druidism, being a source of power from the Aspects, is incompatible with any other deific magics (with few exceptions). It is a two slot magic, and each ability is often referred to as a gift. Some abilities can be used as enchantments through druidic infusion. Druids are attuned to the power of nature, perceiving it visually, through hearing, or whatever type of way is most flavorful. Precisely how communion works and is heard by the druid is somewhat freeform.

Druids are able to communicate with plants and animals, but the more sophisticated the life form is, the more in-depth the conversations can be. A common misconception is that druids can control animals and force them to enact their bidding. This isn't true! A druid can make requests of an animal, and also give off auras of different emotions (done by singing and empathy), but whether they choose to respond is at the discretion of the animal. Tuning and beastspeak are just two of a large arsenal of abilities available to a druid.

    Other abilities of druids include:

    • Growth, allowing a druid to accelerate the rate at which anything from a seed to a tree forms. It can be used combatively (ie growing mushroom spores in someone's airways), but isn't usually the most practical option.
    • Surge: Druids can request that trees move their branches or roots in order to close a gate, or maybe even trap an opponent in combat.
    • Powersharing allows druids to distribute the exhaustion of casting amongst more than one person. A T5 druid powersharing can grant an extra spell in some cases (5 emotes).
    • Druidic limbs can be fitted onto a a tier 3 druid at the minimum!
    • Mapping and greensight allow a druid to use communion to see and perceive living things that would otherwise not be visible. It can help supplant vision for blind druids, or blindfolded ones.
    • Ungrowing helps facilitate the transportation of trees and other plants, among other uses.
    • Entling creation is a relatively rare ability that allows druids to make independent summons to be used in special combat situations. It can only be used with the purpose of serving the Aspects, not casual busywork.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Once a person reaches tier 3, they can take on blight healing or herblore. At tier 5, they can choose to become a shapeshifter if a teacher is found. If all three subtypes are taken, it will occupy five slots total. A druid can choose to invest all their slots into those things, or diversify more.

Blight healing's intent is to purge the world of magical or mundane corruption, helping to facilitate life and growth where there is none.

Herblore enhances or decreases the potency of various elements of a plant, in order to tailor-make the best types of medicines or drugs.

Shapeshifters can shapeshift into an animal of their choice after a series of trials.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Active communion, used as a base before any further spellcasting

[1] Leihana seated herself along the shoreline of the pond, legs crossing. Her fingers drummed rhythmically against her knees, the faint glow in her eyes turning more vivid. Shortly after, the 'ame began to quietly sing along in tune with the sounds around her, all the while placing a silken sleep mask around her eyes.

[2] Craning her head back, Leihana felt the breeze caress her face along with the serenade growing ever louder.

    Mapping

[1] Leihana fell silent then, timing her breaths to flow with the gentle breeze as she willed herself to enter a meditative state.

[2] The chorus of nature crooning, formerly occupying the space in the back of her mind, emerged front and center. She could more clearly hear the rustling of leaves, but the sensation was not uncomfortably loud in the slightest capacity. Those sounds, previously vague and not showing much in terms of location, was now able to help Leihana pinpoint the precise location of the bushes -- four feet away from where she sat.

[3] The same rustling branches began to glow, highlighted against a canvas of black in her mind. As the full picture began to develop, she waited, directing her attention to the vaguely opaque pond before her.

[4] Swimming fish and flowing kelp could be seen at last, previously shrouded in the algae-filled murk of the pond. The outlines of the fish and plankton shone brighter in her mind's eye, seemingly giving off more energy than the underwater plants.

[5] While Leihana had focused before on the individual senses, hearing and sight, she allowed those to merge in order to form an in-depth image of her surroundings. She leaned forward to gaze closer at the pool of water, admiring the ripples made by the occasional emerging fish.

[6] Slowly, Leihana began to rise to her feet, slowly meandering alongside the shoreline to the other end of the pond. The gentle slopes downwards were indicated by a drop in the grass, so she didn't lose her balance and fall. At the other side, her eyes were caught by the illuminated outline of a tapir poking its snoot out of the water.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"With attunement, you've awakened an additional sense within you. I know it's overwhelming for you, but eventually you'll acclimate. In the meanwhile, it's okay to take sleep medicine. What you're experiencing right now is a cacophony of sensation, somewhat indistinct. We're going to work on bringing this sensation to the forefront of your mind, so you can more clearly understand it."

"Begin to meditate. Inhale for four seconds, hold for three, exhale for six. Keep doing this until you feel more at ease, focusing on the rhythm of each breath and how it feels connected to nature," Leihana murmured, her voice softening as she sought to help guide the student into a state of relaxation. She waited about a minute or so, allowing the student ample time to get into the correct headspace.

"Direct your attention now to the sensation of the breeze, the birdsong above you in the tree canopies. As you do this, envision a door slowly opening. When it finally does, begin to view your surroundings ever more vividly."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

A first offense is forgivable, and I will work with the student to ensure they understand why and how they messed up. If they don't stop, or deliberately ignore my words, I will ask for an ST to drop them.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Blight Healing

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Blight healing is a subset of druidism, inarguably the most exhausting. Its intent is to restore fertility in barren lands, and to purge corruption -- be it natural or magical -- from flora and fauna. The aesthetics of the conjured energy one uses is up to the player: some may choose to represent it as a burning fire, others as a soothing raincloud sowing growth. Healing nature comes at the expense of the druid, who is liable to suffer death if they overexert themselves without powersharing at the very least.

Blight healing cannot be used on descendants, only animals and fae creatures (soul trees and epiphytes, for instance).

To take on this additional slot of druidism, one must be tier 3 in base communion.

[1] With closed eyes, Leihana concentrated on bringing the pulse of nature to the forefront of her mind. As her eyes fluttered open, one could see a vivid magenta glow from them.

[2] Mists of that same color began to seep from her eyes, cascading down her tattooed arms in spirals as she reflexively knelt down for support. She ignored ashy soil that got onto her robes, instead focusing on her hands outstretched in preparation.

[3] Peering forward at the patch of barren farmland burned to a crisp, Leihana focused on the two quadrants furthest away from her. Sweat began to collect on her furrowed brows, breaths growing more strained as she guided the vivid mists over. They lingered just above the soil, as if waiting for her next command.

[4] Lifting her shaky hand, she curled her fingers as to summon the mists forth, bringing more to the front of the patch of land. Just as before, they waited for her next cue.

[5] Finally, Leihana brought her hand down to press against the earth, humming rhythmically as the mists finally began to descend upon the earth, disappearing into it save for a subtle green hue the ground had overtaken for the duration.

[6] What few crops remained began to take on a more vivid, healthy hue, the ground's color having been restored. Though it was not without cost, Leihana barely able to stand afterwards. She slumped forward somewhat, breaths labored. Had she not already been kneeling, she surely would have fallen there.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Blooming

"The rudiments of blight healin', llir, is to restore life to where there wasn't before. Plant life, at least. You can't revive dead people or animals, obviously. Dead flowers, though? Absolutely." Leihana reached for her student's arm to guide them toward a desolate patch of wilted, sorry-looking flowers in shades of grey. She briefly winced in sympathy before gesturing the student sit down. "You shouldn't stand while doing this, 'cause you'll get real tired real quick. I don't wanna have to take you to the clinic right after, but I will if I have to!"

"Now, tap into that spidey sense of yours. The druidic one, that is. Shouldn't be too hard. That's s'posed to be the easy part, ha!" She waited a few seconds before her student obliged, less adept at maintaining a connection than she was. "Now, visualize your mana pool. Think of it as a wave, ebbing and flowing with each breath you take! Meditate! When it feels right, begin pulling that energy out of you, toward the flowers. Pace yourself as to not get overly exhausted too quick. It's okay if it takes a while, always does at first. You'll be fine, I promise."

With a degree of intrinsic wariness, Leihana eyed the student as she continued giving instructions as they went. "Now, direct that mist toward the dead flower patch. Don't stretch yourself thin, though. Start at either the closest or the furthest point, doesn't matter. I like to visualize it as quadrants, but you don't have to view it in such a mathematical way."

She meandered forth, setting her hands atop the acolyte's shoulders as color slowly began to return to the flowers and the surrounding area. Despite having seen this so many times, Leihana found herself grinning ever so giddily. "I'll getcha some water," she exclaimed, reaching for a flask in her purse after the exhausted student fell to the ground.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Conjuration

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Conjuration is the art of recreating animals and plants, an entirely artificial pursuit derived from the void. It requires extensive anatomical knowledge in order to replicate whatever is being created. By default, conjured animals are more passive unless created with the express intent of combat. They react to stimuli the same way mundane animals would, but are completely disconnected from any means to druidically communicate with them.

The more animals are conjured, the more difficult it is to order them to do tasks. Under five creatures can be given orders to carry out individually, but any more than that and they function as a hive mind. It becomes more discordant after 10 creatures are summoned, and generally more detrimental to do so. Any commands given must be verbal, preferably with accompanying physical gestures.

Conjured animals and plants are transient by nature of being voidal, only able to last a certain number of emotes in combat or for a longer timeframe if purely non-combative (assuming the mage's connection to the void remains stable throughout).

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

In order of difficulty, least to most

Perennial conjuration: Summoning plants is generally the first thing a conjurationist will learn. It has limited use in combat, but great for cantrips and the like.

Disjointed conjuration: Summoning individual parts of a body, such as a heart or a fibula which can then be thrown as projectiles.

Terrestial conjuration: creating animal life. This is what's most often use in combative capacities.

Chimeric conjuration: Adding extra components or modifying existing components of a plant or animal. For instance, making a cat with scales or a lizard with fur.

[1] A vivid turquoise glow formed in the Easterner's eyes as she stared toward her outstretched arm, fingers folding and unfolding in concentration.

[2] Mist descended upon the empty space before her, matching the color of Jieru's aura. Through the cloud, the beginning outlines of stubby feet and legs could be seen. From bottom to top, the fuzzy body of a sizable capybara would manifest.

[3] The mist dissolved, leaving behind a capybara that trotted on over to Jieru. She reached out her hand to lightly pet the approaching large rodent, a smile spreading across her lips.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"I presume you've studied the anatomy of a capybara via thorough dissections, ti? Because I don't have time to deal with a student that does not do their homework," Jieru chided the student lightly, a hand folding over their shoulder as she gave a firm, warning squeeze. The student nodded fervently up at her, watching as the Li-Ren's cold demeanor melted into one of playfulness. It was as though she'd never scolded them in the first place.

"To my understanding, you are reasonably adept at the initial connection to the void," Jieru continued, the turquoise glow forming in her eyes as she watched her student do the same with more difficulty. "Good, now envision the structure of a mouse, its internal organs and its various external organs, too. From its feet to its little nose. Have every single facet of its anatomy in your mind, so you may recreate it."

With an undisguised ounce of pride, Jieru lifted the conjured mouse up in the air, appraising it. "Excellent job." Carefully did she set the mouse down, it scurrying across her student's shoulders.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If it's a first-time offense, I will explain it to the player and go over the steps on how to accurately play the magic out. If this is a recurring problem, I will ask the ST to drop them and dole out any infractions if needed.
