What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Water Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Water Evocation is the art of drawing water from the Void and manipulating it through casting. It is a versatile form of magic that allows mages to create various water-based phenomena, ranging from small puddles to powerful icy attacks.

Conjured water possesses unique properties that make it adaptable in different situations. It wets whatever it touches and can be absorbed into surfaces. However, if the Water Evocationist loses sight or connection, the water that has been absorbed or on wet surfaces will vanish back into the Void. The rate of evaporation or freezing depends on the intensity of heat, with water disappearing faster in hot environments. Although water conjured through this magic cannot be consumed or provide nutrients, as it requires the caster's line of sight and maintenance, attempting to ingest it would cause it to vanish instantly.

It is important to note that mages cannot boil water through this form of evocation, although they can manipulate its temperature to be uncomfortably warm or cold. The ability to create ice is only unlocked at Tier 3 proficiency and requires dedicated study. While most ice created through Water Evocation is fragile against blunt force and can be melted by fire or heat, larger quantities and when used as a substantial barrier may enhance its durability to some extent.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Upon reaching tier 3, a student can learn to conjure ice for better combative purposes. Pure water has more utilitarian purposes than ice, like if you wanted to create an artistic display of moving waves.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Hailstorm

[1] Under the dense canopy of the forest, Leihana's eyes glowed a vibrant turquoise as she felt potent magic coursing through her veins.

[2] With a graceful motion of her hand, Leihana extended her arm outward, palm facing the sky. A small white cloud began to form several meters in front of her, its presence growing more tangible with each passing moment. Just at the corner of her eye, she saw the approaching group of enemies. It would normally cause panic, but she knew such a powerful spell would be their undoing.

[3] The white cloud solidified, and delicate snowflakes started to descend from it. The forest floor was dusted with a soft blanket of snow, and beads of sweat began forming on the wood elf's forehead despite the chill.

[4] The snowfall intensified, driven by a chilling wind that spiraled downward from the cloud resembling a tornado.

[5] Suddenly, the scene transformed into a barrage of icy chaos. Fractals of ice and hail rained down from the cloud, pummeling the area with their sharp edges. The forest resounded with the sound of ice colliding with leaves and branches, along with the horde of rivals being struck down.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Water Whip

Leihana gestured for her student to take a deep breath, encouraging them to connect with the magic within. "Visualize water rising from the ground beside you," she instructed, her eyes focused on their progress. "Let the water gather, and with your mind shape it into a whip."

As the water took form, Leihana continued talking her student through the process, guiding them to enter a more imaginative state from which to control the water.

"Now, to activate the Water Whip, imagine the movements you wish the whip to make," Leihana continued, demonstrating a flicking motion with her own hand. "Focus your concentration on the whip, then command it to lash out."

The student attempted to mimic Leihana's instructions, though it took much more effort from them. They visualized the whip extending from the water, its icy spikes glistening in their imagination. With a sudden flick of their wrist, they commanded the whip to strike at the practice dummy.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

Consulting an ST if it becomes a persistent problem. Otherwise, I'll explain it to them.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Sensory illusion

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Sensory illusion is a void magic in which you deceive someone through crafted illusions. It is not mind control, but its potential is immense: from small cantrips to illusory bouts of pain, and everything in between. More complex illusions necessitate more focus to uphold. It does not have any physical effects on the material world, but instead affects the subconscious mind of the target. It requires less mana to use compared to other magic, but demands higher concentration from the user. In contrast to other void magics, illusions can be cast for a longer duration. To impose it on multiple individuals simultaneously or in a specific order requires the illusionist to weave a web connecting the consciousnesses of their targets.

A mage cannot create an illusion of a sense they have not felt before. Only by studying the specific sensation and understanding it fully can they replicate it. To be successful, illusions need to be grounded in some sort of reality. Something utterly fantastical like a whale wearing a tutu would clash with someone's sense of logic, and therefore not exist. To cause pain without a logical stimulus is not possible. Also, if the person is familiar enough with the concept of illusions to not be surprised, it will not work on them. They need to be unexpected.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Glamours are more simplistic to cast. They are alterations made to any pre-existing item, requiring less mana and effort.

Figments, on the other hand, are conjured entirely from nothing. They exist entirely within the target's mind and break easily with touch. For instance, if you conjure a figment of a rat, petting the rat will immediately cause it to vanish.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Figment

Suhae slowly raised her hand to tap into her connection to the void, her fingers rubbing together. Eyes narrowed with intent, she focused on an unsuspecting traveler who had interrupted her midnight plans.

Continuing to concentrate on her target, Suhae's teeth chattered from effort, as if caught in an invisible chill. Blood began to trickle down her nose, and she wiped at it absentmindedly.

/msg [username]: You see an amorphous shadow figure creeping at the corner of your eye. It flickered, ghostly and elusive, not ever coming into full view.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"We will be teaching you today how to weave a glamour over this watermelon. Glamours are alterations to pre-existing objects, so they're easier to cast and much easier to maintain. When you advance a bit more, you'll learn how to conjure things from nothing, existing only in the mind of your target," Suhae explained, tracing manicured nails over the watermelon's surface.

As the student practiced maintaining their connection to the void, Suhae only half-focused on them, more preoccupied with checking her nails was she. Once they managed to maintain a connection for long enough to cast, her lips pulled into a grin. "Cast something now, something ultimately believable, but don't tell me what you'll do. The element of surprise and unexpectedness is crucial to casting illusions, now go!"

Suhae watched her student cast, watched their eye twitch and their nose bleed from concentration, and smiled. She had been like that at one point, a fledgling mage. It felt so impossibly long ago, so she began to reminisce.

Meanwhile, the student kept concentrating, their mind crafting an image to impose onto the watermelon. "Look!" they exclaimed, catching Suhae off guard to see a jack-o-lantern cutout of the fruit.

"You caught me distracted! That's cheating!" teased Suhae, though the proud smile softened. "Good job."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

This magic especially is written in a way that can confuse people, so I won't hold it against them if they get confused. Continued negligence on their part means they'll be alerted to the relevant ST.

These tales of redemption and kindness are dedicated to my daughter, Mahina Ilmoriel.

Once upon a moonlit night, deep within the heart of an ancient forest where stars painted the night sky above, there existed a realm known as Lumenhaven. Many woodland animals called this place their home, from possums, to raccoons, to mice, to deer, and anything else you could possibly imagine!

In a tiny, cozy burrow resided a hamster named Hazel. She had garnered a reputation far and wide for her kind heart and endless compassion. One evening, as Hazel scurried through the moss-covered trees and listened to the whispering woodland creatures, she encountered a lost deer named Oliver. Oliver had strayed far from his family and felt scared and alone."

"Are you lost?" Hazel queried gently.

As Oliver recounted his tale of being separated from his family in a thunderstorm, he struggled to bite back the onslaught of tears that threatened to consume him.

"Oliver dear, together we will find your family. Within you -- within us all, really -- resides a light that will guide you home. Breathe deep, listen to the hum of nature and the rustling leaves. Feel the embrace of the forest, so full of life and warmth. Your instincts will lead you home, but I will help," explained the hamster.

Oliver took a moment to meditate, and soon the tears stopped coming at all. He was ready for the adventure that awaited him.

Hoof in paw, Hazel and Oliver set off on a magical journey through the forest. Together, they encountered wise old owls, playful squirrels, and graceful deer. Each creature they met had their own story to share and their own struggles to overcome. They told tales of sins and redemption, faith and atonement. Every creature, no matter how big or small, carried within them a light. A single act of compassion could create a ripple effect across the entire forest, and in times of adversity, it was even more important to make an effort.

Oliver eventually reunited with his family, and the forest responded with jubilant birdsong. Hazel knew that she had made a difference in Oliver's life and in the lives of all the animals they had encountered. Her mission complete, she returned to her burrow, where the iridescent moonlight glow filtered through the windows.

Sleep tight, and may you guide lost souls to peace.

  6. Irena Barbanov, Duchess of the Rothswoods wept for the one person she truly ever loved. Catherine was not a perfect mom, she was absent much of the time, but Irena's devotion to her verged on fanaticism. Catherine could do no wrong. No one came close to her for Irena, not her husband, not even her own children. In a way, she was stunted, her mental state in this specific instance never advancing beyond an idealistic child who wanted more than anything for her mother to be around. Even when she had grown up, Irena kept Catherine on a vaulted pedestal, never seeing her as a fellow adult but as a figure of divine proportions. Someone so moral, so just, and Irena's mirror image.

This was the first time Irena had cried in decades, even though she had tried for Sergei. She had grown numb to the feelings of the world, not like she ever had a solid grasp of them to begin with. What plagued her the most was the knowledge she would never join her family in the afterlife, for she was destined for far worse places.

Meanwhile, Catherine's teacher, the Mali'ame who had watched her grow up all the while staying predictably ageless, also cried unreservedly. Yet there was less certainty on her end, as she made plans to touch base in the future. Death could not keep her from reaching her loved ones.
