My mystic had some incredible RP with the lectors  (@Islamadon @femurlordyou guys were ***** amazing) where they interviewed her at length her ties to some less than savory organizations, and because she was telling the truth and they could corroborate it without her conspiring with the other people to make the story line up, she was allowed to repent and thus is no longer a target. I mean, she still is a mystic, but she has not been caught and does not also look the part of one. I don’t think they discovered whether or not she was a mystic at the time, but it’s irrelevant to the point I’m making.

Being uncovered and caught, when done in good faith and with interesting RP, can be fun for both sides. I had a blast RPing with the lectors and going through the journey of repentance as a medic. They still do not hunt my character down because she has not shown any further evidence of being a darkspawn, even if they OOCly know she is one. They could have just killed her, but what actual fun would that be? The route the lectors took was far more interesting for both parties.

This is true, part of not being suspected as a dark mage or no longer being suspected as a dark mage is… not dressing the part. Acting relatively normal. It works.

yeah, I for one would never voluntarily allow my hand to be sliced open. why should a character, assuming they feel the same things?

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Naztherak is a dark magic that permanently takes up [2] slots upon connection, with the option of taking two more pacts, each consuming another slot. It revolves around making deal with the five Zar’rokul in exchange for infernal powers. As a physical representation of this pact, a brand will be placed on their arm, which protects them against their own malflame. The brand glows during connection, or whenever the Naztherak would wish it so. Additionally, in later tiers, their form would be twisted to represent inferi, which is very visibly demonic and thus cannot be hidden. Their strength would be reduced to that of a voidal mage, permitting them from wearing nothing heavier than half-plate. Upon connection, they gain access to maleus, and must make a grimoire to cast their spells. At tier 3, a striith emerges from their grimoire, telling the Prince which lord has chosen them.

Each Naztherak must choose one of six malices (such as revolt or lies), and if/when they pact further, gain the malice representing the prince (ie Kiiztria, Drazhana) which has chosen them.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Naztherak bears two base subtypes, with two more being available should they chose to pact. 

Malflame - A type of fire which directly affects the soul. It does not burn, and instead delivers a great, agonizing pain. With a grimoire, a naztherak may conjure it into different spells.

Binding - The subjugation of inferi, there are three distinct types of inferi; Zevn: imps, Zekul: beasts, and Zar'ei: CA-locked inferi that are twisted mockeries of descendants. 

Then, upon reaching t3, the Prince is able to further expend their soul with pacting, gaining access to new abilities. Each takes another slot. These are;

Boons & Banes - Blessings(which often contain detriments in themselves) and curses. They are divided into three categories: Greater boons which do not need a bane added, as they already have a drawback, Lesser Boons which DO require a bane, and banes which are curses. 

Cursed Idols - A Naztherak may choose to bewitch an object with their own malice, providing a myriad of detrimental effects.

[1] Malvu stared passively ahead at her opponent as she held a journal which whispered, hissed and floated above her hands. Invisible hands flipped the pages, flipping to a specific spell. In a terrifying metamorphosis, all that was human of her tore itself from her skin, revealing a demonic, horned creature with purplish flesh.

[2] “Vhiit!” Malflame sprouted from her fingers which had turned into claws, rapidly traveling up her arm, and the brand beneath them shone bright.

[3] With a positively malicious shriek, Malvu brought her manicured claws down to scratch at someone to sear their very soul with demonic fire.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“Open your grimoire now,” Malvu instructed, having her student record the following name into their spell book: “Uzgiirk”.

”What does it do?” Queried the student.

“It is for catching your enemies by making a bola of malflame, strong as iron. It is vulnerable to some alchemical things,” she explained, humming as she recalled it. “Alchemical potions that cancel out magic, and thanhium. And sadly, something simple as water.”

[1] As the student opened their grimoire, they began to glow a vivid green from the brands that covered most of their body. Malvu nodded approvingly. “Reconstruct it to be like a bola, really envision it. The malflame is yours to shape.”

[2] ”Uzgiirk,” the student shouted, flames sprouting from their hands. Every so often, Malvu would call out instructions and suggestions.

[3] Just as Malvu predicted, the malflame took a life of its own, shaping itself into a rope and growing two spheres of fire at its ends. It began to spin wildly as it finally materialized shape, which the student started aiming at the test dummy ahead.

[4] “Now shoot it!” called the teacher, clapping her hands as the bola went sailing straight toward the test dummy.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If it’s an error made in good faith, I’ll just explain what they did wrong and how to fix it. If this proves to be a persistent issue and done with intent, then I would ask for ST intervention.
