Out-Of-Character Information
Please do your best to correct spelling and grammatical errors, this is an RP server and writing is the main form of communication!
What’s your Minecraft account name?: Eulb42
How old are you?: 16
What timezone are you in?: EST/EDT
Are you aware the server is PG-13 (You won’t be denied for being under 13): Yes.
Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Yes.
What’s the rule you agree with the most?: Fights can be PvP or RP combat. I was on a server where RP combat essentially wasn’t a thing, and the PvP levelling system was so tedious that I wasn’t very high-level. Needless to say, my character either avoided fights or got his butt handed to him every time. RP combat would be so much nicer.
Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense? (if so we can help clear it up!):
How did you find out about Lord of the Craft?:
I was referred by another player.
Link(s) to past Whitelist Applications (If applicable):
N/A
Have you logged into the server yet? (You cannot be whitelisted without logging in at least once):
I have.
Definitions
What is roleplaying?:
Roleplaying is acting as a character within the confines of an established world and weaving a narrative with other characters, preferably but not necessarily players themselves.
What is metagaming?:
Metagaming is allowing out-of-character knowledge to make in-character decisions. For instance, if my character Joe has never met my friend’s character, but my friend has told me (out-of-character) his character’s name, it would be metagaming for Joe to know my friend’s character’s name.
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?:
Powergaming is roleplaying in such a fashion that you do not leave room for other players to control their characters’ reactions - attempting to control all characters rather than your own.
In-Character Information
Character’s name: Edward Bainard
Character’s sex: Male
Character’s race: Human (Heartlander)
Character’s age: 27
Biography:
Born in 1533, Edward hails from the kingdom of Oren, as most men do. Being from Oren, Edward was raised in the tradition of the Church of the Canon. Edward is the second son of a merchant. Like most Heartlander men, Edward was trained in various forms of combat. Edward had a knack for the sword and the spear, excelling with them, but did not have the raw strength required to use an axe or any real talent for archery. Edward was also trained to speak well - his father was determined that all his sons be well versed in the oratorical arts, that the family business might continue to flourish - a salesman must be able to speak.
A second son, Edward was not well trained to lead a business, however - that education was reserved for his elder brother. Upon his twentieth birthday, Edward, knowing he would never take his father’s business, set out to win glory to his name. Departing from his home in Felsen, Edward’s travels have taken him around the Isles of Vailor - he has visited Haelun’or hoping to learn from the Eternal Library. This did not pan out (naturally), as the High Elves barely deigned to speak to him, and certainly did not grant him access to their treasured repository of wisdom. For this reason he has no particular love of the High Elves. Next, he journeyed to Kal’Akash in Urguan (where they were somewhat more friendly - especially after Edward bought a round at the pub). Departing these lands, Edward has since travelled more, and bears the marks of a traveller - an encounter with an Orc left Edward with a scar on his face. Edward was able to escape otherwise unharmed, though somewhat shaken.
Recently, however, Edward has been looking to settle down. He still has an adventurous spirit, but now recognizes the practical necessity of living in a community for the long term.
Personality Traits: Edward gets seasick very easily. For this reason his adventuring has never taken him to sea for any prolonged length of time.
Edward is very confrontational. This stems from his father usually taking his elder brother’s side in arguments, so Edward had to learn to defend his own views tooth and nail. This makes him come across as stubborn and ill-tempered to people that don’t know him and get into an argument with him.
Edward is fairly egalitarian - even though he is a noble, the fact that he was born a second son makes him fairly opposed to the birthright system, and he questions whether some are born innately better or worse than others.
Edward has a tendency to intervene in unjust situations when it would help his image. He would intervene if a man were harassing a barmaid, and if he saw a man in the street being mugged, but not if he saw a group of highwaymen attacking a farmer carrying his goods a few miles outside of town.
Ambitions: Edward wants to see the world - he does not like sitting on a throne somewhere. As the second son of a very minor noble, Edward hopes to win glory for himself.
Strengths/Talents: Swordplay (longsword and rapier, not broadsword), oratory, land navigation
Weaknesses/Inabilities: Archery, axe combat, broadsword combat, command, sea navigation (and for that matter sailing in general). Edward is bad at working in groups - he prefers to do things his way.
Appearance: Pale-skinned and dark-haired, Edward is a tall man. He wears his hair relatively short ((imagine Obi-Wan’s hair in Revenge of the Sith)) and has a thin scar running down his face over one of his green eyes. He typically wears dark boots, pants, a white shirt, a waistcoat, and an ascot.
