What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy is basically the extraction of reagants you can find on animals/herbs though mainly herbs, each extraction can yield either signs or symbols. The signs are the broad field that all reagants belong to, barring some rare areas, most are usually water, earth, air, and fire.  Through a much more thorough extraction process, you can yield universal symbols which are the backbone to making various different potions. To yield symbols themselves goes as follows:

Herbs → Extraction Process usually cutting them up then boiling → Identifying then separating from the produced fine particles →  Impediment, Strength, Enduring, etc.

Certain potions demand signs tacked alongside symbols which must be separately handled. The process is unique to the sign the alchemist is trying to extract so for now I’ll use the fire sign in the following:

Fire Herb → Dehydrate reagent → Cut up like in the symbol example however do not boil. Ensure its chopped up thoroughly →  burn up into ash → Separate the fire symbols + signs from the process!

Other notable key things for general alchemy include:

Bases | All potions require some form of base in order to be mixed properly. Aqua vitae, Lard, Drake’s tail oil as to name a few which are usually used.

Rolls | Some however can be dangerous/particularly delicate in the process such as the blasting potions which demand a 1d20 roll or Null Arcana which has a 1d4.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are a plethora of subsections within alchemy and the list is far too large to explain in detail. Broadly put, all subsections of alchemy usually have their own unique aesthetic and boons that alchemists can learn in roleplay to add to their arsenal. As is within the nature of alchemy to be a highly experimental feat with a multitude of combinations, many players have accessed what’s called rare knowledge or rare recipes.  As to give an example: Adunic alchemy focuses on hunting and forestry, within that field exists a potion called Stag Stamina which has to be learned in roleplay by another alchemist or some book and does not come as free knowledge for an alchemist by virtue of completing their FA (common knowledge).

Other advanced sects of alchemy are so complex or offer stronger boons that they require assistance from magics (Infernal Alchemy) or more in depth study from teachers and afterwards (Animati or Tawkin), which will then require another application.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"a'right. The go-to process fer extracting the signs is ta usually cut it up first" The adunic knight did just that, taking a root of mandragora and chopping it down into thinly measured pieces. Thereafter, the experienced alchemist looked to his pupil squarely in the eyes expectantly as if waiting. "And then?"

"You put in the boiling water?. . ."

"No!" He retrieved a mortar and pestle from the nearby countertop and laid the measured slices inside. "Ye cut then ye mash" Crunch crunch! was heard as Eldacar grinded up the mandragora into a thick sludgy like paste. Then he held out the bowl towards the student. "Then when thas finished do you pour it into the boilin' pot."

As the student did just that, Eldacar continued the lecture. "The idea of alchemy is recognizin' the nature of somethings form not its shape. When we ge' tha' 'andled, we can make potions. Boilin' is the most common way of doin' it. Y'see those clumps"  he pointed out the several clump like islands in the middle of the boiling pot, he scooped them up and placed it within a sifter, jostling it here and there. "Those are what we want, this is what gives us the nature of something." - "Maker bless you, this is the third plant we've done today!" With each toss up and down, the sifter yielded fine particles that gradually fell into a dish.

As the apprentice observed on, Eldacar took out a pair of tiny spoons and begun dividing the now sifted remnants into smaller dishes, settling them aside for the student to study. "Take a good long look at their colors, their shapes, they mean different things! This is 'ow we get it started. . ."

"Now! What you've jus' takin' twenty years ta extract is. . ." And he pointed to each separate dish with their unique symbols. "Light. . .Endurance. . .and Swiftness"  The alchemist allowed a moment for the student to absorb the visual characteristics of the symbols more keenly, busying himself with a pot of distilled water. "Can y'take a gander as ta what we'll be doin' ta said symbols?"

"We'll be mixing them in?. . ." [Student emote]

"You'll go far!" The adunian teased, showing them the proper technique required to mix in the symbols. After awhile of subjecting said acolyte to a rant, he eventually allows them to try.

    [Student emote]

[!]  A genuine smile plastered over his tired features, sharing in the triumph of his student as they poured the now blended mixture into a curled glass bottle. "Well go on! Shake the thing! It's a luminosity potion, very 'andy for if'n you find yourself without a torch in a dark room"

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

During the teaching phase it's really a matter of educating them on why and what they've done wrong and how to best steer away from it in the future. If the problem continues for a second time, it'll just be the same thing. However after the third, I'd most likely contact ST in regards to their Alchemy status and things we could do to minimize the issue.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy is the feat of taking the spicy magic stuff from mundane/magical sources and combining them in unique ways to craft either artificer like feats or potions. The spicy magic stuff is catergorized under the elements much like in avatar, Earth, Air, Water, Fire, Aether, yada yada. Once that's narrowed down, we have the universal symbols themselves such as rage or endurance.  Certain potions like blasting require you to roll above certain threshold during its creation process whilst others are so mundane you could practically write the emotes in your sleep.  Some have a specific lard substance outside of the spicy magic stuff to serve as its base, aka the foundation your potion will be built on. Some use lard to rub the alchemical concoction on something whereas another may use aqua vitae, etc.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Alchemy is widely known as the common mans equalizer to magic bullshit. Where the mage must spend 6 months to study his goofy glass cannon spells or be useless like a druid, the chadly alchemist has a wide variety of different schools he can go to. Perhaps the most popular one to the dismay of most LT is smoggers and animati which has seen orenian #52 or elven scholar #21 argue to green devils on whether or not we should have tanks.  Put simply, Animati rely on unique advanced techno gizmos instilled within a complex chasis powered by a aptly unique magical goop that acts as the blood.  This opens up an entire CA that players can both create/play to their hearts content.   Some perks of playing a transformer include not technically having a stamina bar, not being able to feel pain, overclocking to be OP in a small time window, emboldening or italicizing your dialogue and not being hated for it, list goes on.

Usually in my experience a good "erm akshually!" moment via pointing at the SPECIFIC redlines they're breaking is all thats needed to fix up a student mistake. I usually follow this up with a warning attleast twice before I let the Staff themselves intervene.

  3. I'd argue that lowering the bar to two emotes for archery is only the first step to fixing the sheer power gap between archery and other far more structured range systems BUT it's a good first step. As it stands, characters are practically born with armor on anyways so there's no point in having some poor longbowman stand far away from the action AND have to waste 3 emotes to a potentially useless action.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Phantoms are wayward spirits often returning from the Soulstream due to sheer force of will, unfinished business, or a particular wrong or grudge. Such reasons whilst they vary often lead to the same first step in this new state of undeath, returning to the mortal world. As it is quite unusual for a descendant soul to return, the sheer act of passing through causes an immense detriment to the souls spiritual and mental state. In this state, referred to as a  Revenant or Grey Spirit, the soul in question is a weak and pale imitation to what they'll eventually become, confused and without much of its memory. In this early stage as a ghost, the mental state of the spirit will often be confused, dazed, and otherwise a blur. This distraught forces the mind to take up several illnesses most common being a repetitive state where they would go about their day as they would've in life until eventually they enter the Gheistreach phase.

Now fully aware that they are in fact dead, the ghosts natural response will be to "sap" or drain the energy of living descendants by the aptly named Gheistreach. The effect of this drainage upon a living descendants mind is a taxing toll, with RP consent, they will be struck with general insomnia, a haziness in vision, and even paranoia; with OOC consent, the effects can greatly increase to experience flashbacks of the Ghosts memories (though not enough for meta),  adopting the personality and mannerisms of the ghost, or even finding themselves unable to discern what is real from a dream.

Once they have successfully filled the required amount, the spirit will enter a "reflection period" where they now must choose how to feel about their current predicamente. Some ghosts, grow angry, distraught, or simply unable to understand their demise, contorting into a breed of Phantom called a Poltergheist and adopting a crimson hue of sorts.  Other ghosts, ease themselves , growing calm, collected, and inherently peaceful:  becoming Specter's and adopting a white hue, a far outcry from their Poltergheist counterpart. From this point, the abilities of the ghost begin to differentiate into differing dimensions of the same abilities.

As a reflection of their nature, Poltergheists hold more raw and feral power yet are unable to sharpen or refine their newfound abilties. As beings who are inherent manifestations of the more negative aspects of a descendants emotional spectrum, drawing upon these elements can cause a dangerous interaction for any descendant.  Specters on the opposite end of the spectrum, give away much of their raw potential for abilities which are more refined yet arguably not as powerful. This however is up to a philosophical jedi vs sith scenario I don't want to type out. The look of both Poltergheists and Specters may vary even down to the shade of color they might be. Poltergheists as angry or vengeful spirits take up hues of the crimson spectrum; typically these ghosts also have more "predatory" traits, unsettling things, such as sharp teeth, diluted colorless eyes or even taking the shape of a contorted demon or predatorial animal.   Once again in the opposite extreme, Specters adopt "cooler" shades of color such as blue, white, or even yellows, appearing perhaps almost exactly as they would in life (however never truly accomplishing this), and may even shift into the form of a more friendlier animal.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing of a ghost is the ability to set up a haunt, a place where the spirit will have made their home and in doing so, enact a greater will on the area. Much like their passive aura ability, those who step into these places unprepared will find themselves feeling the most potent emotion of the phantom in question. A poltergheist haunt might instill fear whereas a Specter might instill a level of peace and tranquility.  In this domain, both phantoms have their abilities amplified: possession, corporeality, possess, and Influence gaining a significant boost.  This will also allow the Phantom to cast their most potent ability, Blessing of the Ebreitas and Greater Possession respectively.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

An imp is the runt of the many inferi demons that lurk about in the lore. Characterized by their smaller stature, dim intellect, and chaotic nature, these little guys stand at most 2 ft tall and possess no real physical danger to most armed descendants. Their bodies can range between skinny to fat with the option of wings as a creative choice. (mainly for aesthetic purposes) They're also notably weaker than the rest of Inferi, unable to lift more than 30lbs (that's 13 kg for the inferior measuring system).

    • There is only one main ability worth noting for imps: Rok-Dhurz
      • The ability allows an imp to cast a little coin sized ball of malflame at the max speed of a thrown baseball.  It is useful if the enemy doesn't like clothes, so probably effective against a wood elf but beyond that, when malflame touches the descendants skin it will burn painfully on the soul level. In combat, it takes two emotes to do and has the general range of 5 blocks, that is to say pretty much most things can outpace the little imp before it can get it off.  Passively, an imp may use the ability for minor aesthetic choices, mainly wee tongues of flame sticking out.

Mentally they're not very bright, especially in comparison to a descendant. They can be tricked and lured out in combat though not to the extent as you would a dog and are generally little balls of chaos that run around causing mayhem and havoc wherever they find themselves regardless of consequence. Owing to their smol brains, they're also unable to utilize full speech, at most broken words and repeated phrases. They're unable to think for the long term as well, all actions they take with fellow conspirators are for the short term goal of causing as much chaos as possible in the shortest time possible. Like all inferi, they possess an instinctual hatred for anything holy, this means something or someone that has holy energy around them will cause at best a feeling of dread and at worse, make the imp scream in terror.  Simple as. Beyond that, the inferi are generally always out to get one another and ascend the ladder of demon hood and upgrade, the little imps are no different as they take every opportunity to do so.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

Within your hands were a finger sized orange gemstone, bearing upon its face an elaborate maze of geometric lines. The arcane symbol pulsed dimly, a feint blink that betrayed something innate within the stone. Experienced Golemancers could see it were a complex weave of many different symbols, several bearing  a striking resemblance to the soul bound core if not slightly modified. . .

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

    Lesser Soulbinding:

Any small gemstone inscribed with this sigil and embedded onto the body of any mortal will find this attached not only on the physical but soul level of a descendant. Similar to Golem Limbs, it is linked to the soul and therefore is charged by it passively. When the mortal body is fatally wounded and the descendant dies, the gemstone will activate and suck the soul into it, effectively binding it into the confines of the gemstone.  This gemstone may be recovered and taken to an Antecessor Core whereby a ritual of Binding performed by a Golemancer occurs as is documented under Antecessor Core. Following the ritual, the soul once stored inside the stone will be placed into the Antecessor Core.  This ritual will destroy the gemstone as the soul leaves, the storing and funneling of a descendant spirit too much for the gemstone to take once the ritual commences.

Despite the innate enduring nature of gemstones, the descendant soul is a powerful thing and the stone is not capable of holding onto a soul eternally. The binding will wear in time and the Gemstone will begin to crack and crumble after a period of 2 ooc weeks. The inscribed rune is also prone to warping, taking a direct blunt hit will mark or otherwise destroy the sigil stone effectively rendering it useless. Upon the Sigil Stones destruction, the soul will pass on to its natural way to the afterlife.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    • This artifact is by its nature capable of being reproduced. On average, a gemstone can not exceed the size of the average man's thumb.
    • 1 Blunt or bladed hit directly against the gemstone will mark or warp the Sigil Stone. Due to the ritual and magical process, the gemstone can not be tampered with by magic means of increased durability: fortitude oil will not work on a Sigil Stone.
    • The process of embedding a sigil stone upon a descendant can not be forced upon someone, OOC and RP consent is required by the player.
    • The soul binding ritual remains the same and is subject to all redlines for the Antecessor Core binding ritual i.e. requiring the characters blood.
    • A soul can not be transferred from the gem to golem core nor the reverse. A gem can not act as an alternative to soul bound cores, any attempt to embed a soul gem into a golem will reap nothing.
    • Once a soul passes on into the soulstream, the sigil stone can not store it.
    • The sigil stone may be taught or studied by Golemancers regardless of tier.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

The effects of the Sigil Stone stem from the golem prosthetic techniques of Golemancy and the Soulbinding ritual respectfully.

    • A sigil can passively draw on a descendants soul when the gemstone is embedded into the physical body of the descendant.
    • A soul may be encased in a special device.

Using a far more complex yet ultimately inferior version of  the soulbinding sigil, the stone would eschew the need for three golemancers to bind a soul in favor of a quicker yet temporary process of soul binding. Once the stone is recovered by a golemancer, the same Ritual for the Antecessor Core can be enacted with the sigil allowing the soul to be accepted into the core despite not knowing the art of Golemancy.

Number of duplicates of this Artifact:

Do you understand that there is a three-month cooldown between posting MArts per-player, and that cooldown begins upon acceptance? (Denial does not trigger a cooldown period.)

             Yes
