A Dragon Knight would cackle from atop his mighty steed as he watched the Orenian force retreat, fort after fort, from Leuven to Reza – “That was quite easy, wasn’t it Hannibal?” – Ser Rodrik would conclude as he dismounted from his horse.
“That was so easy. So easy. God, I’m so good at this. Wow.” Hannibal responded.

Just now, Quintessential said:
A man yawns. “A victory missive for a small battle? It’s like they are picking ticks from hair.”
“A small battle simply because you would not sally out. Only the brave Reivers, and rat-like Siegmund, went out and fought like true men.” Hannibal yawned in turn! He was more mad, however, that someone had looted Wyvrus’ body before he!

THE CRAVENS RUN
6th of Harren’s Folly, 1717
Hannibal Horen charging his troops against the fleeting Reivers.
The stoic men of the Imperium rallied at the gates of Helena, mind focused on the fight to come as they waited with bated breath. The Imperium and the followers of Joey ‘the Pretender’ had garnered their troops and amassed them at their respective capitals, mail-clad legions shivering under the morning sun whilst the sunlight glinted off their spears. The Marnan retinue readied themselves first and set off to hold the fortress at Leuven, knowing they would need a defensive strong-point if they wished to overcome the Renatian legions.
Hannibal Horen, a well regarded field-marshal of the Imperium and the legendary general responsible for the current stage of the war oversaw the equipping of his troops before marching them across Romulus’ Crossing. Marching along the road in tandem with their cavalry forces, they paused when greeted by the Marnan troops already positioned defensively on their walls, cowering behind their palisades.
Arrows rained down from both sides, yet the numbers on the wall gradually began to thin. At one point a man slipped from their walls, falling and spraining his ankle! As he slowly, desperately hobbled backwards he was slain by a cavalryman. It seemed the Marnan troops were sending their forces to the back gate and ferrying them out at the back. Having discovered this with expert use of scouts, the Imperium’s forces prepared to combat such a flank. Yet, a flank did not come. Instead the Marnan forces bolted from the back gate towards Haense!
The Cavalry of the Imperium, commanded by Ser Rodrik, soared down the roads to cut off the fleeing troops, skewering their cavalry and a portion of their footman before they managed to retreat inside the towering walls of Haense, a city known for its cowardice. Once a majority of their forces were in, the steel gates slammed shut, leaving some of their own forces that didn’t make it in time outside. The poor fools fell victim to the sharp steel swords of the Renatian vanguard, with men such as Daniel.
“We are done! Retreat in to the city! Do not push out!” ensued Orenian screams of terror from within their walls.
With that, Hannibal knew that the fight was over and victory had been won for Renatus. “That was boring.”

"Dude... not cool." Commented Hannibal as he read the news whilst he smoked his pipe, one of the few remaining relics of the now defunct Nottingham company. "Not cool at all."

“A fellow warrior on the battlefield. I do hope he rises above the rest, and make a worthy opponent.” Commented Hannibal.

Hannibal trusts Hammelfat’s medical expertise, as he is a famous physician, known all across Arcas. “A shame! Those destined to die are the only ones Hammelfat the great and wise can not save.” Hannibal lamented.

Battle of the Rivers
12th of The Amber Cold, 1716
Renatian, Norlander and Reiter cavalry corp running down Orenian peasants on the Battle of the Rivers
The year of 1716 will forever be known as the year of bloody battles. The Renatian army had provisioned, equipped and rationed their army on the frontline of Nordengrad. This was much to the dismay of the Orenian marshal and the legions under him who sought out to rid the Renatian army from the border. At the helm of the Renatian army rode Hannibal Horen, recently legitimized and promoted to the rank of field commander. His task, his mission, to plan a campaign deep into Orenian lines and begin burning villages. The peasantry who raised arms and craftsman which supplied the Orenian war machine with food and equipment were also valid targets of the campaign.
Hannibal Horen began the campaign by carefully maneuvering the army around Leuven so that he might gain unrestricted access to the riverlands of Haense and Ves. His army began its very rapid campaign of bloody warfare, and set to salting the fields as well as raiding nearby villages. At first the Renatian campaign met no resistance until a band of Reiver mercenaries tried to halt their advance. The Reiver band, although brave enough to fight a numerically superior army were isolated and cut down by well trained skirmishers and cavalry, whatever remained of their party retreated to the city gates of Reza.
The campaign came to a sudden halt twenty days after the battle against the Reivers, when word of the Orenian army marching upon their own spread amongst the raiding parties. The bait had been set and taken, the Orenian and Renatian armies were set to meet at center of the riverlands. In anticipation of Orenian cavalry and a potential flank, the cavalry corp of the Renatian army was carefully placed on the right flank, within viewing distance but carefully concealed behind defilade.
When the two armies clashed on the field, the Renatian infantry took the full brunt of the Orenian army. It appeared to be a certain defeat, yet resolve and courage is a trait inherently bound to the men of the Imperium Renatum. It would be foolish to state that the battle had started well for the Renatian side, yet the tide turned immediately when waves of Renatian shock cavalry smacked into the side of the ensuing melee, like a hammer collapsing upon a brittle anvil. The cavalry corps pulled through the ranks of Orenian infantry, before riding out through the back and collapsing back in for yet another charge. The battle came to end when the last Orenian peasants head was lopped off by Cassian Vallberg of the Reiter Company.
The remaining Renatian, Norlander, Reiter, High Elven and Orcish soldiers moved back towards the capital city of Helena in unison, joyous of their successful campaign and victories. A group of riders and border scouts are set upon the Orenian countryside delivering crudely written pamphlets
“To the people of Oren, your armies have been defeated on the battle countless times. Surrender your arms and swear fealty to the true Emperor, Godfrey III of House Horen.
And to the leaders of the crumbling Haense Empire, let this be known as the 103rd Grievance.”

I like to still consider myself new to the server, and I’ve gone through 5 character so far. I wrote a sixth, but never played him. I like the idea of this thread, because it shows that we’re all connected in some way OOCLY, even if we are fighting IRP. There’s different stories going on at once, and it really makes LOTC feel like (and does make it) almost a living, breathing world. For a while, I mained my first character (and then my orc), because that was where I tested the waters. Later on though, I’d experiment by doing different races and such.
Hanasun Chet – OOCLY, I was just a new player and I got recruited by Rivia. I hid in my house while everyone stayed in the VC and I was too afraid to say anything. Later, when I was by the new player village, two passerbys, Ruk (Shuggie) and Blogus (Minionman) stopped by, and I tried to make them recruit me as a bodyguard. It worked, so I left Rivia, and joined Nottingham, which was the start of my actual experience on LOTC. In my application, I wrote Hanasun in my application as a sort of, wise, quiet and strong, Harian outcast. However, joining with Nottingham, I realized that didn’t suit my character at all. He was a bandit, a slaver, but he was charismatic, clumsy at times, and didn’t really think before his actions. He followed those with power or money. I didn’t love my character, though, same as the rest of them. They were separate from me, most of the time at least, which is what I enjoy about RP.
I have a lot of vivid memories on this character, since it was my first. After being picked up at new player village, I was struck by lightning, which was a crazy coincidence that I haven’t seen happen since. Later on, their friend, Grumbis (gump), stopped us on the road. I didn’t know at the time, but he was being tested to see if I could protect them. He started PvP (this was my first time PvPing seriously, I never liked minigames really before this), and I used my shield mid pvp thinking it would block hits. He was using an axe, but I was still destroyed. Further down the road, we found an elf that was maimed and lying by a tree. They groaned and begged for aid, but Blogus pulled out a cleaver and ate him, much to the dismay of the player OOCly. I still wonder if they PKed or not. Inside the Dominion, we scammed elves, using a ploy that I’d use countless times later on, saying that we’d sell them a house, while showing them a random screenshot of a house and saying it was a drawing. That was my first day of actual RP. Later on, we’d go slaving, and I’d fight my first Renatus rally. I met Pond through that, and I still remember Puknaak’Lak. To keep it short, Hanasun would convert to worshipping Belka, then following Xionism and sacrificing to a void wraith after meeting Lhindir, fight in the orc-elf war, fight in my first warclaim, White Peak, and fight constantly with different groups. Banditting was fun for me, it really was. I fought almost everyone on that character, except for Krugmar. He’d also fight for the September Cult, which was a ton of fun.
One of my most vivid memories wasn’t PvP or a warclaim, though. I halted someone on the roads, with a loaded crossbow, and fired at them when they didn’t lay down their arms. They ran all the way to Belvitz, so I chased them and downed them in the tavern, and revived them of course. This was a full tavern, with guards, traders, citizens, and the like. This caused a large commotion, and so I RPly convinced them that I was in fact a Harian citizen, and a friend of the druids, framing the man I took down as the bandit. He argued, but luck had it that I had a shield with the druid/virarim banner (you can guess where I got that from) on it. I convinced them to the point to where they believed me, but would fine both of us. Him for being a bandit, and me for causing such a problem. They took me to the bank, but I emoted nervously looking around and moving to the doors. Then, I bolted straight out, and they chased me, but not very far. I was free, and was later complimented by the man I banditted for the good villainy RP.
Glottgut’Raguk – After Krugmar had lost San’Kala, and all of Nottingham guys banned or inactive because the others were banned, I decided to play an orc with Flamelynx. As Raguk and Krugmar as a while were in dire straits, there was a lot of freedom to move up the ranks as well. As a cub I would go out, challenging travellers to klomps. It’d be for slavery, gear, or just to kill them. Later on, Raguk camp was established, and I’d fight against Sutica a lot. One of my favorite PvP clips is from a raid on there. Glottgut would later become Wargoth, and lead the clan war against Shakul’Gorkil, for, albeit, OOC reasons. Still, me and Flamelynx won, and neither of us chose to be Rex. Later on, partially after my instigation, the Coalition wars would begin. We lost each one, but I was able to lead the last one, and despite losing, I’d say it was the closest out of the four, despite our numbers lacking severely from our losses.
Glottgut later died in Arcas, after I was unbanned. I really like to think my PK post was the best thing I’ve written on the server so far. There was no other way I would have liked to PK, it was just so fitting, not only for an orc, but for his character. Going against his enemies for a final time, while his own kinsmen were scattered and broken.
Clayton – After the Coalition wars, I’d still play Glottgut, but I decided to play the son of Ruk. I considered playing a dwarf instead, but decided against it. Me, Flamelynx, and rarechris all played brothers. It was fun, basically doing the same thing as Hanasun Chet. To be honest, he wasn’t fleshed out, as I really just killed and banditted on him. I still had fun playing him. When I got banned, however, I decided to shelf him/effectively PK him, saying he was still in Atlas, unknown whether or not he could survive through the harsh cold like his ancestors. I like to think that he’s in a cabin, fighting off wolves occasionally. If I ever do play him again, I don’t think it would be impossible to say he crossed over into Arcas though.
Hannibal Jrent – I was banned for four months, and after my attempts at arguing failed, I decided to let it go and just wait it out. During this, Flamelynx asked DPM for a Horen, bastard of his Horen character. He said yes, and so when after I PK’d Glottgut, I played Hannibal. He stuck with the Nottingham merchants who returned, fought with the Reivers against the Empire, but was also a merchant, businessman, and salesman. However, when he was forced out of the Empire, his restraint from banditing was effectively for nothing. While the rest of Nottingham basically got bored or got banned again, I wanted a change of pace. Currently, he fights for Renatus in the War of Two Emperors.
Jorgan Frostbeard – Also because the rest of Nottingham was gone, I decided to play with one of the only ones who was left, Garrond. I’ve been wanting to play a Frostbeard for a while, and even though I’ve barely played with him, I think it’ll be fun.
I know it’s really gay for me of all people to write this, but I do enjoy the server, no matter how much I complain or troll about my gripes with different communities or the server staff itself. I haven’t encountered anything else like it, and I’ve been on and off RPing on forums and on other games since I started middle school. I like to look back on my characters, because they are vastly different from anything I could ever be. I still play with the people I’ve met along the way, and I think if there’s anything to take away from the server, it’s friends. Corny, I know.

Hannibal stood among a pile of bodies, helped up by another defender of Renatus. He wiped his face from dust, dirt, and blood. He crawled around the ground amongst the chaos, his hand finally finding itself upon a bloody blade. He turned onto his back, lying upon piles of bodies. Hannibal looked to the sky, not with a smile, but with calm relief. “Just the beginning.”

Hannibal would have much preferred high elves as opposed to pirates. However, cowards will be cowards, and he gladly accepts ‘brave’ pirates with open arms.

Renatian and Orenian soldiers engaged in a vicious melee at the Battle of Nordengrad
From the walls of Dunharrow rang thrice, the invasion bells had sounded and echoed across the surrounding valley from the riverlands of Rodenburg to the farmlands of Leuven. The traitor chief who had sworn himself to the illegitimate Haense Emperor had been captured and brought below the ground to be stored safely away in Dunharrow’s most secure dungeons. The riders of Nordland rode fast and to inform the allies of an encroaching Orenian army who came to secure the release of the traitor. The quick reinforcement of the Renatian and Orcish army is a testament to their military readiness.
On the Nordengradic border did the two armies both meet, even in number but not in skill. At first glance it seems that a mistake was made on both sides as the two armies were caught off guard and thus thrown into a chaotic and unorganised melee. Once more did the Renatian knights charge forward into the melee, with its rear guard protected by the Norlander infantry and Orcish berserkers. The Reiver mercenaries who had the courage to show face after their last disastrous defeat was quickly routed and destroyed by the rear guard who was strategically placed to kill or disable any flanks.
A notice is pinned and posted across the realms of the traitor kingdoms
“To all who would swear their blade to the illegitimate Emperor, who lacks land and is indebted to the Haensetic King, we extend an olive branch. Denounce the false Emperor, join our struggle and let us end this rodent filth”

Hannibal raised a speculative brow, as it was he who devised the towers and hanging bridges. Despite this, he was still proud to see it built. Hannibal returned to bed, to miss another field battle.

Hannibal is impressed that a child would be able to write this. However, he only quickly skimmed through it, because no one in their right mind reads these.
