As a dark dwarf raised in Kal'Tarak by his now-dead parents, he learned smithing by watching his father work since he was born and was eventually trusted with more important tasks around the forge until he was 25 and was able to work it on his own. He also grew a passion for mining as he discovered and fell in love with the gold and jewels that all his people chased, this is when he decided to try smithing jewelry as well. He practiced furiously at his craft as his life revolved mostly around the forge, mining and dreaming about all the battles he would one day win. Being so different from the others he grew up around, Viathor's parents tried to treat his like he was like he was a normal dwarf and not like his true dark dwarf self. This lead to him not knowing much about his Doomforged heritage save the laws of the Doomforged, and that he should always follow them, as such he feels a great deal of loyalty to all within the Kingdom of Urguan and tries not to aggressively pick fights unless threatened which conflicts with his natural lust for battle.
Having just moved on from the recent death of his sick mother he finds himself parentless and ready to leave Kal'Tarak to start his life in search of much. He seeks to know all the history of his Doomforged roots. Viathor relishes in solitude of the mines and his forge and he feels most safe and comfortable deep within the glorious underground structures of his people, but is ready to leave that for now with the plan of someday returning. Although he dreams of being a great warrior he is a very poor combatant, he seeks military training and to serve with them as he was taught nothing brings more honor than to fight for his people. He wants to make use of his exceptional smithing talents out in the world. He has a mild interest in understanding magic, maybe pursuing pyromancy. Viathor wants to learn more about the world and his place in it.
