"Woe to the man who wanders the Wiccewoldz [1] withoutten much wisdom. Many an ælfen or afgudeignatos [2] lingers in its neuks, waiting, then springing outwith their hiding holes to make mischief upon the minds of men unprepared. If ye go there, to the realm of wicce, heed this: remember that The Deiwo [3] is, in His greatness, unimaginable. Nought can compare to He. Though, wicce-ones often desire nought else but to lead His creations astray. Like a gnat landed on something far greater than itself, we are too small to witness The Deiwo. Even the behemoths of the Wiccewoldz are too small to behold Him. Guard yer worship from all others but He: even if they should tower above you in might, they are nought in His presence."

When Cadwalla wandered this plane, guided by his auld teacher, it at first felt like falling from a ship into the tides. During a great and terrible storm there is a rumbling of the waves, a roaring of the rain, and then a muffling of things as one sinks beneath. The cold embrace of water quiets the chaos of the surface, so too did it here. Out in the darkness of this place, a pair of serpentine eyes gazed aimlessly across its vastness. Cloaked in vaporous shadow, the eminent form of some giant lyften [4] adder slid through the celestial stew, oblivious to the Cingedoz in its midst.

This part of the Wiccewoldz looked like a night sky, disturbed only by the presence of the great snake. Here Cadwalla floated, he swam in it like an ocean, yet breathed in its emptiness like air. The stillness of this grand abyss choked the air with an overwhelming quiet. Though at last, breaking this dreadful silence, a voice called out a warning: an ancient ken would come to the man, though the price was its selfless application. This knowledge of Wicce could not be used for foul purposes, else a terrible punishment lay ahead.

Now the great adder's eyes turned to Cadwalla, ravenous, full of hungry intent. Its maw retracted, its fangs gleamed a ferocious light across the otherwise black plane. No matter how hard the robed sage thrashed against the wicce waters, he moved but a fraction of the velocity at which the celestial snake was fast approaching. Until, like a vole caught in its jaws, it seized upon him and swallowed him whole.

Beneath the shade of an old oak, his guide closeby, Cadwalla returned with a bellow from the Wiccewoldz. The message was as clear as the sage was shaken. He hoped the beast, The Deiwo willing, would never be seen again. Though, time would tell.

  4. Daud, the young nomad, had never heard of Fascism, nor should he have: he was not from the 20th century of our familiar, yet strictly homaged, world. But alas, he had indeed bore witness to an ideology which had translated itself into the land of Almaris, from Earth, with as little as a change of name, or adjustment of tenets. Thankfully, he hadn't the literacy to understand it.

  5. Nadal Ravexi, none the wiser of his wife, friend, and beloved's passing, continued his wayward search for Vivyne in unbeknown vain. Their life had been errant; he was accustomed to their parting of ways; oblivious to her true nature. Yet, for all the times that the two had walked separate roads, this was beginning to be the longest. For the first time in his long life- his long marriage- he was truly afraid.

Had a wave embraced her while out at sea? A brigand taxed her of her life? Did a mage ignite her, a headsman behead her, or a vengeful spirit drag her away? Not even the most farcical of Nadal's frit thoughts could compare to the truth. Perhaps, a truth he would never know.

So, he carried on his wandering, a changed man. If he had once had a blithe to him, it had long become stoical and pensive, a strange change for those who knew him; all who did had long passed. Perhaps this was the true curse of an elf? To outlive, in such a cruel place as this.

  6. 'They built a grand masjid, the likes of which cannot be found in the south. Their laws are just and beget the smiles of heaven...

Illah willing, more of the faithful shall come to this land. The Vasoyevi have our loyalty- despite our people's fleeting numbers in recent years.'

Otrok Qan insisted to an eager gathering of his tribesmen by his yurt outside the walls of Vasiyeva.

  7. Otrok Qan caught the whiff of embers in the air. A moue formed upon his face, an expression of part pity, part disturbance.

Border towns had always been but the beginning of terrible things to come, however desolate they may be. He had witnessed the happy days of past empires fleet away. He had seen the barbarity of Man's empires in their waning days. And with a rearing of his steed, he turned and rode south. He would not be around to see the horrors of their strife again.

Soon, he thought, the wigs, pomp, and faux civility would be replaced. Gallows, superstition, and fearsome paranoia were to be the qualities of the new era; qualities which never boded well for the turkins...

'O Illah, protect them from the north, protect them from the south, from the east, and from the west; for surely no road shall be without war. Let them take refuge in your magnificence when there is nothing left. Ameen.'

The old man Otrok, inspirited to correction, rambled his case for the writing to the dismissive Rashid.

"The scholar argues not that having a beard is a sin in & of itself, - no no. - But that for the dwarf, whose wearing of a beard is a tradition tied to their pagans ways - to the supposed commands of the false idol Yemekar, - that the beard is a remnant of their past idolatry and should be cast off. He uses the verse to call his people to action against this."

The following is an account, transcribed and then translated, by Fr. Laurenţiu Popescu-Voiteşti, during his missionary work among the Konchak tribes. Attached are pieces of Konchak art, contextually relevant to the contents of this document.

A TRANSCRIPTION OF THE ORATION OF VALIK SYTZIGAN QAN, CSERTAN OTROK

COLLATED BY FR. POPESCU-VOITESTI WITH AID FROM HIS DRAGOMAN BONIAK

9TH OF SIGISMUND'S END, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1824

[A camp, typical of those on the outskirts of Konchak territory]

    -M0Ts5KFPqkELmrM5mX5vH6v303hUtCTLcGoOUv3H4neckzOHXOfqyQte57VwNXYuR6TCZYzpTbz6HORfKss238Utig1lgnzz54JaJNxFWRZlwFxR-GRbp9MKxYZs9FOUqciyjw_

There we stood, far enough away so as to not intrude upon the ongoings of the Konchakian elders, yet close enough to bear witness to the commanding oration of the man they had come to hearken. They seemed to be some way through the conversation and our appearance was in no way harmonious with the beginning of the orator’s words.  He was of a royal clan, the royal clan, so said my esteemed dragoman Boniak. His Cənazə mask shon a striking beam of the sun’s brilliance into my eyes and when I did return my gaze, his eyes, though completely shrouded in darkness, pierced my very being. This is the man I speak of: a great prince of the orient; a man, who even with an unmoving, steel face, betokened his vivid expressions by way of word alone. He spoke the following.

How heavy it is for the tin to bear, my brothers, the sight of the qozi straying from the will of Ilah, zafer O'na olsun.

[The qozi he refers to are not the young-sheep for which the word directly translates, but the young men of his tribe]

The affair of the Cənnət is wonderous, is it not? Indeed, did the Grand Qadi not say to us ‘All is good which is done by the Cənnət, all that he is given is good.’ All the many tribulations of our tribes have been borne with ebullience, for all that is given to us by Ilah, zafer O’na oslun, is good.

At this, he gestured with an outstretched hand toward the tribesmen who wandered by the far away yurts.

They wear the Cənazə üzlük not as a crown; Ilah, zafer O'na olsun, did not reward us as he did Harremin with a crown; the Cənazə üzlük is hot and bothersome; they wear the Cənazə üzlük like a cage, and yet I  am still proud to bear my own. It still brings my heart much pleasure to adorn it in the quiet of my tent, for all that is given to the Cənnət is good. Never shall a man such as this...

At which he did gesture dismissively and briefly toward myself.

...gode me to besully my tribe’s oath to Ilah, zafer O'na olsun. Yet, I see the qozi go without the Cənazə üzlük for this very reason! Those who call our people Konchak, Khartes, or ljósvány; these people do not understand the penance we bear.

Such an ignorance has indeed befallen our own qozi: led astray in a mere moment by the outsiders for whom we hold no hate, but for whom we are forced to wage inner-Cihat against, for the sake of our oath to  Ilah, zafer O’na oslun

In the land of the stone yurt, it takes but one moment to break our oath, brothers. A qazi demands the qozi to remove his Cənazə üzlük; we have seen this many times, brothers, many times...

...The qozi yearn to be accepted in these lands, fall astray, long for the gaze of another upon the manglek; not that which was forged by temirci; they wish to be seen in the teri beneath the warmth of the sari. They tell me... The qozi, they tell me:

[It should be noted: manglek is the Konchak word for the upper face, they have no such word for the entire face, but this being the holder of the eyes is of importance; a temicri is a steel smith, responsible with the creation of the Cənazə mask; teri is the Konchak word for skin, and is an intimate, powerful word for the horsemen]

‘Great Otrok… The sari burns too much… Surely Ilah would not mind if I were to forgo üzlük for a little while?’

[Sari: sun; also the colour gold]

‘Otrok… It is not my burden, it is not my father’s father’s father’s burden to wear üzlük…’

At this the crowd of elders descended into a flurry of grumbles, grunts, tuts, and groans; a geriatric opera of discontent.

They do not know the great good that  Ilah, zafer O’na oslun has done for our tribes! How is a man to prove himself worthy of Cənnət if he has no struggles? Struggles are a blessing, the üzlük is a blessing. Let us never forget!

The small crowd became invigorated by these particular words. Though all far outpacing myself in seniority, they outstretched their arms and celebrated with the energy of younger men. There was, for a brief moment as the fever simmered away, the menace of a few grimaced looks toward myself and my dragoman, the latter of whom some Konchaks had taken to loathing for his service to me. Nevertheless, the orator continued to speak.

[Two young Konchaks, depicted without the üzlük.]

    RL7ylwULLXdrE84JJG15gK_ypXe1_cQAvrld01H2rt2Td8VJLFNPxETbSSFqEO0jCIcWTEDGnje3wDhnX-P0ui0RFdK1JkgyQ0TkoLqYFKdU3PvCJOCZ_ttVrBWt-dEXkLXh5lXJ

So too, I hear, are the sisters led astray! I heard; by way of brother Kül-bey Koten son of Eldechyuk, who had heard from Yarguci Kül-bey Kopti, who himself had heard with good reliability from Kül-bey Chilbuk son of Kza; that a small number of sister of the Kül-bey have taken up husbands from the north and shed their üzlük too!

Shame… Brothers, shame… Surely Ilah, zafer O’na oslun, will see that we, the Cənnət, may set our house in order.

A new age of the Kadaksleri is most certainly upon us, brothers. Surely these times of cihat will test our commitment to Ilah, zafer O’na oslun, and show who among us are truly of the Cənnət. An inner-cihat against the enticement of men who do not share our blessing of sufferance, Maşallah.

There was muttered prayer among the elders at this; even those passing by joined in with this ritualistic whispering, despite having looked disinterested, or perhaps avoidant out of respect, prior. There was a great calming of the camp's atmosphere and all at once I felt at ease also. Their foreign tongue was no consolation to me, but their seeming slip into a docile, primitive religiosity certainly put my mind at ease. The orator continued, giving something of a closing prayer.

[A depiction of outcast women, walking maskless under the sun]

    xdryAqN02-4dqID-K76ng-21RLK81f9URG7yVwfqyBH6HH3qUpx_WxP2KKVx8cbcugFjzwRClhak5EtXG72b1VZsk-RlLL_ISR0g9u3r4wPhFmdEHZtFSP-2UN5-UGIh0_33qxDJ

Rejoice children of AL'IIMAN MUTAHAWIR for you have pillars that will never be broken! zafer O’na oslun, forgive me if I have said anything wrong. zafer O’na oslun, bless all of us, İnşallah. Liberate us from our vices, İnşallah. Sag olun... Salamlar, brothers.

And at this the elders and the orator said their farewells, then left each for their own direction. These esteemed men then began to blend in with the common-denomination of the camp, and fade away from our view among their fellow tribesmen.

    PROCLAMATION OF A METROPOLITAN  ABBEY

Let it be known to all faithful Canonists that,  within the Metropolitan Diocese of Providentia, a new Abbey has been consecrated for use by the Monasti of Blessed Pius & Seraphim, a dual-cloister accepting both male and female postulates.

The Abbey shall function upon the institutes therein The  Monastikon, following the great Vasoyevian tradition. We dedicate our Abbey to both the Blessed Hieromonk Pius of Sutica and the Blessed Father Seraphim so that we may be guided by their righteous grace, dignity, piety, and humility before GOD.

We declare to know no father but our Father Almighty GOD; know no mother but our Mother of Mankind; know no belongings, but that which belongs not to ourselves; and know no kindness, but that bestowed upon our brother-man.

For we have died a worldly death so that we may go to battle for you. For everyday, the monk enters battle with Iblees for the salvation of his brother-man. Everyday, the nun beseeches salvation for humankind.

I hear the scoff of the hardened soldier; I have borne my scars of war, but I tell you, no battlefield will test yine strength like that of the monastic life. Come to us, brave warrior, so that you might walk the path of our Lord and achieve union with Almighty GOD.

Come too, ye politician! Who have allowed temporal decay to consume you; it is not too late for salvation. Come, ye priests! Who serve well, yet wish to serve GOD twice-fold. The Hieromonk in you is destined to be born. You harlots! You broken women! Come, for it is not too late to earn GOD’s mercy. Brothers and sisters, I tell you, it is not too late.

I will greet you at the gates.

& to any heathen who reads this missive,

and intends harm upon the community:

If you come, you will not return.

BLESSINGS OF GOD BE UPON YOU,

    HIEROABBOT LAURENȚIU POPESCU-VOITEŞTI, FSSCT

    DUTIES

The Abbey, and it's Monasti, serve to fulfil a number of functions beyond the individual, spiritual, obligations of the monastics. These functions primarily serve to aid the wider faithful, as well as the Holy Mother Church, and of course the State. Some such duties, not exclusively, are:

    (i) Communal prayer on behalf of individuals, families, or nations of the faithful: the monastics will muster together to perform rituals of prayer, beseeching the intercession of Almighty GOD, His Prophets or Saints, on behalf of the faithful. The Monasti can prayer for the safe passing of a loved one, the success of an Emperor in matters of righteous war, the safety of a Canonist peoples undergoing foreign persecution, or another matter deemed appropriate for such a holy ceremony. This act of faith is not exclusive to Emperors and Dukes however, as the Monasti will perform such rites even for the lowliest of peasants.

(ii) Acts of charity, inkeeping with Blessed Seraphim's institution of monastic-giving: the monastics will provide the poor and wretched with a place to stay, bread and food, or teachings in the way of Canonism. These acts are not the sole duty of Monastics, but a secondary function, and as such the regular occurrence of this charity will be limited to the discretion of individual monasti and their Abbot.

(iii) Missionary work: the Monasti will travel to foreign lands in search of converts to the blessed faith of Canonism. Often risking life and limb for such ventures, the Monasti should fear not death, for they are dead to the world.

(iv) Negotiating the release of Canonist hostages held by heathens and heretics: the Monasti will intercede on behalf of Canonists who have fallen prey to heathen or heretical hostage-takers, acting as the middle-men for the safe return of the faithful from barbarous hands.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Striga are believed to have been created by the Unseen thousands of years ago. The  seven Aengudaemonic beings, known as the Unseen, swore allegiance to Iblees. As a result, they blessed Gedym aep Helgraen with their curse. He received the Unseen Codex, by which the Striga is governed. A Striga who has forsaken one of these laws is subject to anathema and will be cast out.

During their transformation, strigae depend on blood for energy. Striga are created through a special ritual, when they ritualistically consume the blood of a Greater-Striga, afterwhich the curse takes hold. In the absence of blood, the new Striga will degenerate into a lesser Striga. In addition to degeneration caused by insufficient blood, too much blood is also damaging. By overfeeding, Greater-Striga can devolve into Lesser-Striga.

Greater and lesser strigae are subdivided. Physically, Greater Strigae can live for 4,000 years. Besides enhanced strength (though only at their highest peak), increased speed, and being able to gauge emotions by tasting one's blood, being immune to potions and poison, enticing mortals with their own blood, and slow regeneration, they also have many other strengths. A Greater Strigae looks like a mortal except for its green eyes when it is passive. In contrast, Striga experience bestial behavior when they experience stress. Those in bestial form take on blackened eyes, sunken faces, blackened veins, long and sharp ears and flattened noses, as well as talons and fangs.

When a striga overindulges in blood, they will devolve to the form of a lesser striga. Overindulged Lesser Strigae lose their ability to heal. A lesser striga represents a mental state of weakness for overindulging, and as such is shunned by society. There are three subspecies of Lesser Strigae based on the length of time since generations. The immediate consequence of degeneration is an Upir.  Upirs communicate by way of grunts and moans. In bestial form, an Upir looks very much like a Great Striga, but it also possesses very prominent teeth that protrude from the mouth. Upirs eventually turn into Alps that grow blackened and obese. As their weight grows, they descend only for limbs to move on. Their eyesight is poor and they cannot complete higher thought. As the body grows longer, it reaches the final stage of the Carcoran. They reach a height of 9 feet when fully standing. As a result of their thick limbs, they can 'see' with a form of echolocation. Their vision has faded completely, but they still possess a strong sense of touch and smell. Thoughts these creatures are animalistic.

Unlike humans, strigae can only feed upon the living.  The hunt for prey drives them and provides them with real satisfaction.  It is impossible for them to learn magic. Blood enthrallment requires OOC consent at the final stage.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

In the dark, Zvonomir's eyes turn to a deep black, and a few black veins reach out from his skin. Ears extend, fingers grow talons, and teeth reveal fangs.

He retains much of his previous biology, including his yellow-green eyes, as well as most of his previous features.

  14. Zvonomir began to mimic a Velian salute in fond recollection of the foreigners he had met under strenuous circumstances.

"Dobry-folk, yam having hope of their success." He mustered with a nod.

"Ave Velia" the Raevir uttered, mounting his steppe horse and trotting off into the distance.
