  1. Grrr, my job is in danger.

Jokes aside, some feedback. I think it'd be neat if the CT folks also got a similar ping when a new player is en route to a settlement, so that we can come and help make sure they get a warm welcome and are integrated with the community, in case nobody else comes to take care of that.

Also, perhaps implement a webhook to the Discord of these settlements to notify offline players of an incoming new player? Something like the raid bell, just for new players instead of raiders.

All in all, lovely concept and I hope to see it implemented quickly.

  2. Kerraline Goodbarrel & Onelia Peregrin approached the small maple wood box sat by the village noticeboard, as the two halfling elders gently pulled the lid off the box, beginning to count the votes. Soon, a flyer would be posted to the noticeboard, with additional copies around Bramblebury!

    Elections of 1814 Results

With the end of the elections comes a new bunch of Elders! I’m happy to have served our lovely village for the past eight years, but it is time for Onelia and I to step down, and for our new Elders to begin leading our village to prosperity.

We had a tie between Mr. Applebottom and Mr. Applefoot, which was broken by a tiebreaker--a simple vote between our High Pumplar, and our two present Elders, and Mr. Applebottom won the vote.

  4. Isalie's eldest daughter reads and rereads the note a few times, then letting out a somewhat melodramatic-sounding sigh. "****. Yeah, sure, of course this happens now. What a perfect time..." laments the dramatic plant. "Oh well. I'm sure I'll see her again sometime," she murmurs, moving up to her apartment to continue writing whatever that project of hers is...

Winter Gardner reads the note with a frown. "Oh, well," she says to herself. "I suppose everyone needs to take a vacation every once in a while. Still going to miss her, though...and it doesn't help that I just lost another vote. Shame."

  5. [!] A notice is pinned to the noticeboard.

"Attention weefolk! In about a year and three and a half day's time from now, we are going to visit Haense. Their ambassador has offered us land in their temperate region, so we're going to go have a look and consider if we could use it for anything!

Gather in the village 15 minutes early!

Please send me a letter if you want to come, so we can know how many weefolk to expect!

  8. Essentially what the title says; I'm looking for someone to play a child that my character Jol found abandoned recently. The child is a female human named Ellie.

I've got no requirement for activity, just, I'd prefer you be around semi-often, as Jol is effectively my main character. Jol has homes in various places around Almaris, although unless something were to change, she is currently around Elysium (Norland) most of the time.

If playing Ellie sounds like fun to you, reply to this thread with the following format:

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Sorvian Sculpting

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

    Sorvians are people made out of clay and a mask, created by a Sorvian Sculptor. Three main "ingredients" are required to build a Sorvian;

-The Sculptor's own blood (applied to the backside of the mask, in the form of ever-shifting, unreadable script)

-A small amount of the Sculptor's excess soul (applied to the clay body in a process known as Awakening)

-A suitable body made out of clay

-A mask, which is utilized in the process of priming the mask.

Creating a Sorvian is a process which goes as follows:

-The Sculptor crafts a suitable body out of clay, with a wooden "skeleton."

-The Sculptor draws a bit of blood from themselves, using it for Incanting, applying it to the back of the mask. The Sculptor themselves is left feeling cold and weak.

-The Sculptor sets the mask upon the "face" of the body, Awakening the Sorvian and bringing them to life. The mask is now permanently attached to the Sorvian--acting as their "face."

The only other spell within a Sculptor's arsenal is Revival, allowing them to mix blood and clay to repair a Sorvian, whether it be their own or created by another Sorvian Sculptor. A Sculptor can also recreate a dead Sorvian in one of two ways:

-Applying the dead Sorvian's mask (which is removable from the head of the corpse) to a new body.

-Creating a new mask, and applying it to a body.

Sorvians are odd creatures, physiology-wise. They are incredibly resistant to pain--merely feeling it as a dull sensation, though this sensation can last for years. They can take attacks like no Descendant can, shrugging off entire limbs being cleaved off. However, these injuries will not heal without aid from a Sculptor versed in healing and revival, sticking with the Sorvian for life.

A Sorvian has two weakpoints, those being a cavity in their chest, and the mask. If the mask is broken, or their chest sufficiently damaged, the soul energy within leaks out, the Sorvian dying quickly. To destroy a mask requires three emotes (it is hardened by the creation process).

Emote counts for a Sorvian's death:

1 emote to die if decapitated

5 emotes to die if chest cavity punctured

    Instant death when Mask destroyed

Sorvians appear rather uncanny, being made from clay.

A Sculptor may only revive one Sorvian every 24 OOC hours.

New Sorvian "flesh" that has been recently applied to the Sorvian will be half-strength for a week.

Sorvians cannot receive additional modifications post-Awakening (e.g. a Sculptor can't stick an extra limb on their Sorvian later on)

Beneath a Sorvian's mask lies a clay face, but behind their eye and mouth holes is an empty black void that is not very deep. Sorvians have average eyesight and hearing, and a neutral but always developing vocal range.

A Sorvian eventually will mesh with an ideology and/or culture, their mask and accent changing to accommodate this. A Sorvian who is Norlandic, for example, could find themselves speaking in a rough Norlandic accent, or a Sorvian finding themselves in constant battle could develop warpaint upon their mask.

Sorvians have high manual dexterity, and are adept with using both hands for tasks.

Sorvians revere their Sculptor, seeing them as a sort of master. They devote themselves to an ideology once introduced and associated with it, which usually takes a year or two. They are almost living beings, but never quite alive. If an ideology or culture of a Sorvian dies out, the Sorvian either spiritually "breaks" and falls apart, or will continue to persist, despite all odds, going to great lengths to justify it. Pain never truly leaves them; it merely dulls and spikes from time to time, even with years-old injuries. Sorvians in a bad psychological state will be more prone to feeling phantom pains.

Only three Sorvian player characters may be made by a single Sculptor per three months. Sorvians cannot utilize magic requiring souls, they cannot breathe, and they can only make Sorvians at the third the pace a Descendant can. They cannot be built in combat.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    Not really.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    [Incanting]

Jol winces as she cuts her own right thumb with the knife, exhaling as she sets the knife on her desk again. She stands up and retrieves one of the ceramic masks hanging off a nail in her wall, setting it face-down on her desk.

The woman takes a miniscule ferrum rod from her pocket, touching it to the bit of blood gathered upon her finger. Closing her eyes for a moment, she allows her mind to wander for only a brief few seconds, then quickly getting to work.

Jol ignores all the voices of the people around her, drawing strange symbols upon the back of the mask in her own blood, the symbols shifting to read something completely different every second or so.

Jol exhales, having not realized she was holding her breath as she worked, slumping back in her chair, breathing heavily as she catches her breath, appearing drained by the process she just underwent, setting the mask aside for later.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Jol glances to her not-yet-alive assistant--a small Sorvian Husk bearing no mask. "Today," she says, letting out a short sigh, still a hint drained after having performed an incantation on the mask held in her right hand. "We are goin' t'learn how ta actually awaken y'all's firs' Sorvian. I's a simple process, really," the woman says, moving towards the Husk lying on the desk.

"There is no intense or drainin' thing, here," she says. "Th' hard part was last time. All we've to do now, is simply apply th' mask." Without even allowing time for her students to ask questions, she quickly sets the mask upon the smooth face of the Husk, as a pale blue wave of light engulfs it over a few seconds. "An'...there we go!"

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

Speak with the student OOCly and explain what they did wrong, provide an example of a corrected emote, and ask for them to provide an example of how to properly emote the action as well. Keep a close eye on them when/if possible.
