Hailing from the city of Belvitz, Nyssa grew up a comfortable enough life as a farmer's daughter. When not farming, she studied what books she could get her hands on, mostly agricultural texts from her father. Shy and quiet around those she does not know well, Nyssa preferred the company of plants, books, and animals over that of other children. She eventually came into slightly better wealth as her father's farm produced more sales to feed soldiers during the Curon and Adrian conflict, allowing her better clothing and access to yet even more books.
