  1. All I got to say is, since guns can pierce plate armor. Just make it a 4 emote load. 4th emote being when you aim and fire. Your post had like 3 actions shoved into one on the last part. Since its an ET item, its a bit more special and powerful then a crossbow at the cost of an extra emote.

  2. [!] Blanketing the sky was a vast range of mountains within one of the many plains of the Stargush'Stroh. Sitting atop the highest peak was that of Droktar'Lur, his long lost family beside him. As the olog looked across the never ending view, Droktar would begin to notice something new, he would begin to notice the figure of a friend. Quickly the olog sprung to his feet, running for days until finally colliding with Ugrad with a wide grin. Whilst hoisting the uruk into the air, a rather loud set of words filled the air, "UGRAD BLARG."

@LlirCan I fight in round 1 of the 50v50 and then in round 2 on an alt? If not what precautions are in place to prevent me from being on the roster twice on two different accounts?

You'll probably have to be logged in while on that alt at the cost of your ping in the first fight. You can't really stop people from alting, where there is a will there is a way and the only real way to stop it is IP bans. Which create a whole new issues especially around VPNs and brother/sisters sharing a network

    Gowlur

    Description

The Gowlur’s are a hulking breed of ape that range in size from four feet to a rumored twelve feet. Just like their varieing heights, the Gowlur has a wide range of weights ranging from 200 pounds to upwards of almost 2000 pounds. Gowlur’s tend to have long arms and legs while their body and head often take on most of their bulk. Pelts of a Gowlur bear a wide variety of colors ranging from Red, Blue, Green, Black, and rarely White. Some of the most defining features of the Gowlur are it’s protruding face and lack of a tail. These creatures are not friendly by any means, and are a true embodiment of the wild.

    Discovery

As the orcs began to flee from the Arcas to the jungles of Almaris, they soon found the jungles already belonged to a more ferocious inhabitant. Within a few day’s the orcish camps began to report screams that’d chill the spine of any uruk, man, elf, or dwarf. The screams belonged to that of the Gowlur’s, and as time went on the Gowlur’s screams were soon joined by those of an orcish origin.

    Behavior

Within the jungles of Almaris, Gowlur’s can often be seen stalking, sleeping, and climbing around in search of their food. Often sitting at the tops of the massive trees within the jungle, Gowlur’s rely on their eye sight for the majority of their actions. Being omnivores the Gowlur tends to prefer eating plants, but when their farseeing eyes cannot find any they turn to more ferocious ways to feed. Should one encounter a hungry Gowlur they’d quickly be met with the scream that has terrorized orcish camps since their first few day’s in Almaris. Following the scream would be the presentation of the Gowlur’s set of fangs ranging in size from 1-6 inches.

    Lifespan

Gowlur’s can live from anywhere between 100-150 years old though once a Gowlur reaches the ripe age of 100, their ability to climb quickly begins to falter.

    Types

Just like any descendant race, Gowlur’s come in different sizes and shapes such as those listed below

    Bub’Gow:

The descendants that fear orcs often tell tales of their Ologs, the massive creatures that are capable of striking fear into anyone. But within the hearts of the orcish race lies a folk tale, depicting a legendary breed of Gowlur known as the Bub’Gow. Stories say that the Bub’Gow stalk their prey for days, torturing them with their screams from a distance until the time to strike is ideal. Screams of a Bub’Gow are often heard, shaking the earth and soul of every living thing within the jungles of Almaris, but no one has ever seen one….

    Abilities/Traits:

    • Bears a strength nearly triple that of an olog

    • Bub’Gow hold a remarkable set of eyes capable of finding the smallest of creatures

    • Screams from the Bub’Gow often strike fear into those that wish to live

    Weaknesses:

    • Movements of the Bub’Gow are often extremely slow

    • Relies on sight to function

    • In the dark the Bub’Gow is quite vulnerable

    Redlines:

    • 8-12 feet tall, 1200-2000 pounds

    • Should the Bub’Gow lose its eyesight, the creature will shut down

    • Bigger the Bub’Gow the slower it’s movements become

    Nub’Gow:

Known to terrorize orcish camps rather often, the Nub’Gow is the most common of the Gowlur species. Unlike its mythical brother, the Nub’Gow species tends to roam in packs of 3-5. Like wolves these packs of Gowlur’s have an alpha, and in dire times the alpha has been know to sacrifice itself for the pack. The scream of a Nub’Gow is higher pitched than that of a Bub’Gow, and it’s movements are noticeably faster.

    Abilities:

    • Known to bait or trap its prey prior to an actual attack

    • Like it’s brother the Nub’Gow holds a remarkable set of eyes capable of finding the smallest of creatures

    • Screams of a Nub’Gow often don’t scare creatures, but rather draw their attention

    Weaknesses:

    • Should the Nub’Gow lose its vision the creature loses the ability to function on its own

    • When separated from its pack the Nub’Gow tends to become frantic and scared

    • Nub’Gow are extremely vulnerable when in the dark

    Redlines:

    • 6-8 feet tall, 800-1200 pounds

    • Without eyesight the Nub’Gow will shut down

    • Faster than a Bub’Gow but still sluggish in it’s movements the larger the beast becomes

    Mini’Gow

Found within the caves of the jungles within Almaris is the rabid Gowlur known as the Mini’Gow. Tiny but mighty, this species of Gowlur thrives in the dark finding and eating all forms of life within their caves. Mini’Gow are known to have anywhere between 1-12 within their packs in a cave. The scream they offer is the rather high pitched, and when multiple scream at once in close proximity orcs have been known to go deaf.

    Abilities:

    • Mini’Gow tend to attack like rabid dogs using hit and run tactics

    • Nocturnal, thrives in the darkness

    • Mini’Gow are the fastest of their kind, but also the weakest of the Gowlur’s

    • Screams of the Mini’Gow when done in large groups have been known to take the hearing of those nearby

    Weaknesses:

    • Eyes of the Mini’Gow don’t adjust to light well, unlike the other Gowlur subtypes

    • Mini’Gow are extremely flammable, like that of a leaf

    • Being extremely tiny, the Mini’Gow is quite frail

    Redlines:

    • 4-6 feet tall, 200-800 pounds

    • Requires eyesight to perform any task

    • Extremely fast but weak

    • ET mounted Mini’Gow cannot utilize deafening scream ability

Location/Geography: Found within any of the vast jungles of Almaris

    Tameability:

On the rare chance you survive an encounter with a Gowlur the ability to keep one them as a pet  is possible. Should the eyesight of the Gowlur disappear so would it’s ability to function alone. Through persistence you can become the eyes of the Gowlur, but should you become the eyes it’s hands and feet become yours. No ordinary creature can be mounted on a Gowlur, you cannot not do anything other than guide the blinded creature. Should you start doing another action aside from talking on the back of this monkey you may quickly be dismounted without warning.

    Taming/Mount Redlines:

    • Requires the creature be blinded temporarily or permanently

    • Rider cannot do any combat or non-combat actions while mounted and moving besides talking.

    • If stationary you can do non-combat emotes without worry.

    • Will not kill or harm for its rider, but will pin players down, if rider dismounts then Gowlur releases the player. This is only to be utilized by ET/ST riders

    • Can’t do anything on its own beside basic non-combat emotes when blinded without a mounted rider

    • Will flee from/attack rider and all other players if sight is regained

    • Can only be acquired through roleplay in an event run by ET/ST

    • When kept as a pet, the creature cannot be mounted, and offers no combat abilities in any form (Non-ET/ST).

    • ONLY Event team or Story Team members can mount these creatures and utilize their combat

    Mechanics:

Can be represented using a horse or item given by ET. Role played through environmental emotes not as a playable character.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Musin are a new kind of mouse-like beings descended from Ratiki. Born to serve as the runt slaves of the Ratiki for an endless and unknown amount of time throughout their short yet brutal history. Culturally the Musin hate Ratiki, and the name of their race belongs to that of the Musin called Musin who saved them from their imprisonment. After being freed, the Musin arrived on Almaris nearly 100 years ago. Lost and scared, an unknown man by the name of The Giant stumbled upon them. The man, helped them, taught them everything they need to know how to survive and started their unholy drive to stay clean. Though towards the end of the mans life, it became known that the man had originally planned to manipulate them, having thought they were Ratiki themselves rather then the fugitives they are. The man soon died, blessing the Musin with an extended lifespan compared to that of their Ratiki breathern avergaing around 70 years maxing at around 78. Now the Musin roam the world of Almaris, not knowing much, but having a sense of adventure driving them to understand what is new or unknown to them. (Funny enough they don't know orcs exist yet less you have met one yourself irp!).

Musin have lesser souls, and cannot perform any kind of magics, but could perform some non-soul related arts such as Alchemy. Musin sometimes have been known to be quite the craftsmen, some truly utilizing their knack for recycling. Musin are known for using rather used items whether it be their clothing, food, or house, Musin thrive on making sure nothing goes to waste.

Now for the juice, Musin are a very small and fragile race. When it comes to weaponry the largest weapon they would possible due damage with would be that of a dagger. But even then, their strength is quite lacking. Although they struggle in the gain train, Musin are extremely agile using it as their default weapon in a battle. That is... saying they actually fight because most Musin will run before the fight even begins. Should a Musin get into combat, a singular stab from a dagger or large would likely rend a Musin either dead or in a state that would have no benefit. Having lived within caves the majority of their lives, Musin have the ability to see within the dark at the cost of barely being able to see 24 blocks during the day at peak sunlight. At night or during a cloudy time, their vision can reach up to around 48 blocks (Average human sight). Musin speak common, in a manner that often is better than that of men, elves, or dwarf.

Due to this race being the race it is, meme RP is something that will not be tolerated.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Musin stand as if a normal descendent, but with the a height ranging from 1’5-2’6, putting even the shortest of halflings to shame. Their fur takes on the natural colors you would find in a normal mouse in real life. The hands, tail, and inner ears often tend to have little to no hair, their pink skin becoming rather prominent.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Sprites are very small creatures, appearing like that of a human, closely resembling Descendants, ranging from six to ten inches tall. Sprites also function similarly to Descendants, being able to eat, breath, smell, however, they cannot create complex sounds. Some of them can speak/understand small amounts of common in-time as they begin to learn the language and how to communicate with it. Their body consists of matter made up of plants and/ or insects, some looking rather strange and alien, however. But unlike descendants, they possess no genitalia (and can't FTB). Another difference that separates them from descendants are their wings, which are usually made from insect wings or flower petals or even leaves. They cannot grow extra limbs though sadly.

The plants that make up a sprite do not keep their properties, for example, if a flower is poisonous, it's poisonous properties will no longer be present and so they cannot be harvested. The insides of a Sprite also differs from a descendant, due to them having a core, which also serves as a stomach and heart, being constructed of the same matter as their body. The core, much like a heart, being the main hub of their circulatory system, moving sap (which acts as their blood, keeping them alive) through their body. Their diets consist of fruits, nuts, insects and water. Sprites also require a solid amount of daily sunlight to survive.

A Sprite's wings can only take them up 5 metres (5 blocks) as they aren't strong enough to go any higher. The wings cannot be used to bypass any mechanical barriers, such as walls, and have restrictions during combat. For example, if they fly longer or higher than their limit requires during combat, the Sprite will faint due to exertion, meaning they will have to rest for one cactus/IRL hour until they can do any physically demanding task.

The Sprites can create substances that relate to their respective domain of the Fae realm they are from. These substances have a significant place in alchemy. However, if an alchemist, or anyone for that matter, tries to kill a sprite for their Reagent, they will fail to gather anything. The gathering of this reagent requires the Sprite's willing activation. Though sprite will always strike a bargain with alchemists for favours, giving the reagent as a reward (An ST must oversee the process and sign the reagent. Only one can be made every IRL week). This is in order to redeem themselves in the eyes of the aspects.

The Nightfall domain aka the domain my sprite is from, takes the form of the Sprite's tears when triggered, and has the symbols: Death x5, Dark x4, Poison x4 and Silence x2.

Sprites that come from the Nightfall Domain are considered to be the most mischievous and silent out of the three subtypes. They believe that bringing death to animals or even descendants, will help bring them redemption in the eyes of Nemiisae. Though their intentions may not be purely evil, they are the Sprites that are feared, if at all. They are mostly seen attacking the overgrown gardens of descendants, still creating death, which is overlooked by Nemiisae.

The reason for this need of redemption is because Sprites believe the aspects have casted them out from their paradise. This being why they roam the realm, carrying out tasks that relate to their domain in an attempt to gain redemption from the aspects. which is why they take advantage of the alchemic properties of their reagent, making deals with descendants in order to complete their goal of redemption.

As a sprite progresses through their reincarnations, they develop a rather good level of intelligence. they definitely become  more sentient and intelligent compared to any other plant or insect. The Sprites do, however, possess childish characteristics and have no awareness of descendants' customs, cultures or manners. though given enough time around descendants, they might be able to identify the meaning of some words used by the descendants.

A Sprites spirit doesn't work the same as a decendants soul and is unable to use any type of magic. They are vulnerable to any blight that affects nature. Lore blight will affect Sprites in the same way. If blighted, a sprite spreads through their body, mundanely when compared to how plants react, however when it reaches a sprites core, they will wither extremely quickly. They will start to wither and slow within the first IRL hour, unable to carry out any strenuous task. after three hours, a sprite will die from the effects of the blight.

Sprites are also susceptible to the casting of voidal and/ or dark magic. If they are within a ten metre/ block radius it will cause the sprite moderate pain and discomfort. Sprites being known to scream due to the casting of voidal magic.

Just like any other life form, sprites are able to die due to blood loss, their wings being one of their biggest weaknesses due to it being where most of their blood is held. Other than that they could simply be stepped on, causing their death. If they do happen to die their spirit reincarnates, some, if not most, of their memories being lost with each reincarnation along with small personality changes.

Sprites are able to communicate through communion with plants, animals, other fae and druids. This is a passive ability that only takes place in the surrounding 15 block/ metre radius of the Sprite. This is done by a combination of thoughts, feelings and visual message through, which are exchanged. It can be used to create friendships with plants and animals. However, plants and animals cannot be told/ asked to move.

There is another way Sprites can communicate, however, it is a more specific way of communion. The sprite can create a singular link with a descendant, allowing the target to only hear the sprite. They will not be able to commune with/ heart nature, only listen to the Sprite. This is done by the Sprite touching the person's body for it to work, However, this causes a headache or migraine when used for extended periods of time, which is usually after about five speech emotes from the Sprite. It can't be used in combat to distract someone, however. This ability takes two emotes for the sprite to carry out, before they can actually speak with the person.

Sprites do have some sort of self defence. A toxin that can be released if the Sprite feels threatened. emitting from their skin and spreading to a 3 block/ metre radius and has no effect past this point. The toxin acts as a thin mist that mainly disorientates the aggressor, if they enter the mist, as it takes effect by making contact with the skin being absorbed by those in range. causing them to become very dizzy and overwhelmed. It can disrupt any magic user that requires concentration while casting, attacks start to falter, giving the Sprite time to escape.

This can only happen once per hostile engagement and two emotes are required, physical strain being described as toxin is gathered and the second being the release of the toxin.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

The appearance of a Sprite is a humanoid constructed from plant or insect matter, maybe even a combination of the two. They can be brightly coloured or dull depending on their composition. Some may even appear to be rather alien due to the insect parts used. And any weapon used must be reasonable, for example a thorn. So no wielding greatswords and dwarven war hammers.

  9. For me a player becomes good at CRP when they master the give and take rules. Pushing their character/persona to the absolute limit to land their own final blow. For example, someone willingly gets stabbed in the arm, leg, or chest but in return uses the action of the opponent to send in their own attack that is practically unblockable due to the attack their opponent just gave them. 'You gave me a final blow, but in the same moment I took you out with mine'

When someone takes a hit from someone, its not to provide a 1:1 ratio in combat. It's to practically force the opponent into a losing position. There's no running dodging or evading when all your energy was put into the attack, and during that attack your opponent realized if they take the hit and rely on their groups healer. They can truly provide the killing blow at the cost of removing themselves from combat.

In simpler terms. Instead of evading the attack, they used their emote to become the attacker. Because in the moment, they can survive the original attack. Because in crp there is no evade and attack, there is only evade or attack. Which is what confuses many people when it comes to crp. Fights last endlessly, if double emoting is involved

Right, but who determines how many times you can die stupidly before it’s a PK? Who documents and keeps track of that? No matter how specific you make the criteria, it’s still not enforceable because it relies on either word of mouth or the word of the player in question. Sure, staff could go digging through logs and screenshots to find out, but at that point you’re investing a lot of time and effort into something that is still grey. Its a system that primes people to argue with each other, and that should be avoided.

Once again you bring up some good points. Like anything in this server you can’t just change it all at once, and your right in it will prime people to argue. Maybe we could start by reworking the Cloud Temple Monks? Allowing for characters to show the weight of their crimes more, especially during limb loss. Want to maybe find a middle ground in the discussion between myself and you in regards to having a more meaningful death if forced pks are out of the picture.

  11. 1 minute ago, Cheezzy_Garlik said:

while i do mainly agree with this topic, i think we should just redo the death system COMPLETELY, because all i see are people who get their arms chopped off in rp and dont want to deal with the sacrifice so they just have their characters die and they are back like nothing ever happened

i admit that i have done this a few times but my persona never really stays the same after they die, something about them always aches or they lose a bit of their sanity each time they die. and i think it is just stupid to cut off someones leg and they just die and then later show up with that leg right as rain. ik that it could be seen as ruining your fun, but if i cut off your arm and i see u again with both arms, thats gonna ruin my fun because your not aknowloging rp on an rp server.

I definitely see what your talking about all the time. Maybe having the cloud temple monks just unable to heal the loss of a limb could be a good start. Throughout the different nations there are plenty of ways to get new limbs, and this would allow for those magics to become utilized more often.

  12. 1 minute ago, BenDaMack said:

There would also need to be an edit in nation rules for each nation, which actions justify pk versus something else so that it is extreme cases that pk is enforced rather than just something simple like killing someone in a fight... otherwise there would be 0 room for conflict

That is a very strong and valid point. Maybe to ease the server into a stronger PK clause allow nations to have 1 or 2 offenses that if committed will justify a PK clause if killed/executed on their tile in relation to the crime. All pk offenses would  require mod approval to ensure people don’t have absurd rules

  13. 8 minutes ago, Wretched said:

You’re dipping into too many grey areas – breaking the laws of a nation is not an attempted suicide, as that persona may well assume they will be successful/unnoticed, they’re not intentionally killing themselves

I understand your POV, but I think you misunderstood my example. That example was not for the players first time. Getting killed due to breaking the rules and dying due to lack of knowledge, stupidity, or whatever is justifiable. But if a person does it over and over I believe there’s just reason for a PK.

Maybe we should talk about a scenario based PK Request system? Food for thought

  14. Background

LoTC is full of many personas varying in acknowledgement and personal power they hold. At the same time, these personas die, but whether that is permanent relies on the player behind them.

According to the rules of the server the only way you can be forced to PK is through suicide which is a great rule. BUT what is suicide on LoTC?

    Defining ‘Suicide’ on LoTC

Through my time killing and being killed I have seen so many people literally commit suicide but not PK. Your probably wondering what I mean by that, and what I mean by that is say your group is running from a fight. One persona decides to stay behind, fending off the opposing group at the cost of their own life. Yet they will return to their group being praised as a hero as if they didn’t just die. In my opinion that is suicide, because that persona knew full well he was going to die staying behind alone.

Suicide by definition is the intentional killing oneself, yet we allow personas to do so in other ways than by their own hand.

Another scenario would be a ‘political’ suicide. Say a persona decides they are going to break a couple rules from a nation/race to purposefully spite them. The person knows full well that punishment for breaking these rules is death, yet does the action anyways. The next day they walk straight into the home of that nation/race once again knowing the group will kill their persona. Said persona doesn’t PK and instead continues to break the rules, and continues putting themself in places that they know will get them executed over and over. I’ve personally seen this happen many times, and it’s a plague to a community because it will never end until the person gets bored of dying.

So my big question to debate is, “Should suicide (Other than through ones own hand)  be allowed to continue without PK’s or should we refine the suicide rule.”

    This concludes my Ted Talk

  15. Deep within a cave marked by the ever flowing blood of slaves sits Luga’Gorkil, a smile crossing his face as the claim reaches his ears. “Lat waz mi zekund znaga, buh lat iz mi azhzt pryde.....” the voice of the gorkil strong as his hand fell atop a shrine to Levaz, “Lat kan nub keyp uz ull en chaynz ut peepz!”

  16. Droktar’Lur grumbles as the news of a clan war reaches his ears. The only name the aged olog recognizes is that of Ugrad’Lur. After a few moments a roar could be heard all across that of Krugmar as Droktar’Lur prepared to perform another great act.

Shifting within the caves of the Arcas is a decaying body, it’s eyes glowing feintly as a few words left its mouth, “Soundz lyke dah kuntz neyd ah boila boi, ah toe boila.......”

Chugaz’Lur sat atop a shrine dedicated to a spirit of fire behind the city for a time before plainly stating, “Chugaz kan mayk hozh zhiniez wif ah wagh.”

  17. If anything join the server as one of the starter races, and then apply to become an Olog once that initial application is accepted. Ologs don’t speak much, but you’ll have to learn a bit of the orc language. (We will gladly teach you and even help with your English)

Ologs are basically just 8-10 foot hunks of muscle and fat. When I first started playing with the orc race I didn’t know the language at all, and this race allowed me to slowly learn it over time as I focused more on reading other players dialogue than making my own.

  18. An aging goblin peered over the parchment for a time before quietly speaking to himself, “Chugaz grukz diz azh iz different frum dah udur Ireheyrt Ztowtz,” the goblin’s voice flowed with a sense calm within his drug littered crib, “Buh mi iz peepen mor tu peep wub wyl happun uf nubazh, ztepz furwerd...”
