Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Martin looks about the tent for a moment, noticing the candles floating. "May I say that I am very sorry to intrude upon you, I had not expected this tent to be occupied." He scans the hag's face briefly and then sits on the wooden stool nearby, half rotten and creaky.
BACKSTORY:
Martin was born sometime around SA 206 to unknown parents, as he was left next to a vintners door in Petra. The vintner, a woman by the name of Sero Selwidge, took care of Martin until he was around 15 years of age. During this time she instilled in him a reverance for the Green Lady, Cerredwin. Sero also taught him to read and write. Upon turning 15, Martin's love for nature and reverence for Cerredwin led him down the path of a nomadic ascetic, foraging, tending injured animals, and living off the land as he went. He became sort of a travelling monk of Cerredwin, devoting most of his time to her worship and being one with nature. He often travels between cities, helping those in need and advocating for peace in times of duress and conflict. He loves to write about the ascetic lifestyle and has written a few monastic works about his time and ways, serving The Green Lady.
