For as long as Edlenor remembers, he has always been an outlier, always living on the margins of society. He spent the first 17 years of his life in an orphanage in Caras Eldar, before running away. Ever since, he has been living on his own, eating what he could find (or steal) and sleeping in some of the many hidden places Caras Eldar harbours.
It is clear to most that Edlenor is a bastard, abandoned at birth by unloving parents. While, on its own, this is a heavy enough burden to bear, it is particularly out of place for a High Elf, given their low fertility rates, their pride, and their obsession with race "purity". This probably explains his apparent disdain for the mali'aheral way of life, as well as his unusually brash behaviour.
However, while Edlenor says he doesn't care for his heritage, its culture and its traditions, he secretly longs for the "normal" life that he has always been denied.
