Belamire

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Belaea clenches her fists, Finally. She sighs to herself. They said she'd be here. Taking the proffered seat, she sat while keeping eye contact with the old woman. "They said you'd help me get started in these lands for the price of the tale of my journey here." Belaea shifts nervously on the cushion. "I'm sure you know it wasn't easy. My family was a small but skillful one. We traded with travelers not for coin, but oddities, things we could never get in the forests. In turn we gave them rare herbs, concoctions, and other treasures of the land." Her look tightens in anger slightly, "But those damned demons! Those horrible spiders! They chanced upon us in while we tended the gardens. I think they were looking for someone. Why else would they be there?!"

Belaea's eyes looked down in shame as her voice began to raise slightly with pain at the memory. "Mother... M-mother had this look in her eyes and told me to run. To take to the rumored tunnels east of the forest." Her eyes began to swell with tears before fiercely returning her gaze to the woman. "She said I could find you. That I'd know when I had. That you could help me. I- I don't know what to do now in this unknown land. Or what happened to my family..."
