Brol Halmyn Irongut, aka “giftig”, born 1481 at Hiebenhall in northern lands of Athera, just outside the grand city of Kal’Agnar during the reign of Grand King Hodir Doomforged.
The city of Kal’Agnar, founded only a few years before in 1470 (circa), was just been destroyed in 1470 by the Undead after a protracted siege, causing the survivors to regroup at the Irongut hold of Hiebenhall, led by Grand King Fimlin Grandaxe. The refugees include the parents of Brol Halmyn.
This attack of the Undead brings the return of several key figures from past days, Clan Father Gamle Irongut, Chase Irongut, among others. Balek Irongut is promoted to be Clan Father and Hogarth Irongut to Clan Than. The leadership and heroism of these heroes of the past inspires many Dwarves to strive harder in all ways. The father of Brol is filled with passion for the Dwarven Nation, which he will pass on to his son in the following years.
Kal’Agnar is retaken in 1479, but one Irongut family remains in Hiebenhall due to the pregnancy of a dwergin, the mother of Brol Halmyn.
GK Firmin sets out to rebuild a new city named Kal’Karaad on the ruins of Kal’Agnar. Clan Father Balek purchases a clan hall in the district of the cave dwarves, and a stall for the Irongut Emporium in the market. This encourages many of the refugees to return to rebuild their homes. The family of Brol Hamlyn is among them. GK Firmin appoints Balek Irongut as his Chief Architect for the rebuilding of the city. Balek and Brol’s father have some interactions over matters of architectural metalwork and is further inspired by the plans being made for the development of the city.
1481 Brol Halmyn is born
After the death of the Grand King Hodir Doomforged Thane Hogarth Irongut nominates Balek Irongut to be Grand King.
In 1494 Korolon, to later become Onyxheart, is born. She will have a significant effect on the life of our young dwarf.
Sometime about 1460 The Engineering Guild breaks off of Yemaker's Workforce with Tog Irongrinder as Master Engineer. Many decades later, on or about 1550 Brol finds out about the Engineering Guild and the scope of his dreams expands beyond smithing, something that he did not believe to be possible, as he had participated in building some of the great works of the Dwarven Grand Kingdom in his travels.
Between the Dwarven arrival in Axios (1571) and the Coalition Wars (1593 - 1595), Koralon emerged to lead the Iron Honour smithing guild together with Kalviin and Mafraedon Starbreaker in the Dwarven city of Kal’Nikaer. Brol took a sabbatical from the Engineering guild to follow Koralon into the Iron Honour where he applied his engineering knowledge to smithing technique, and refined his smithing to be able to better perform works of engineering.
Eventually, she was appointed to the Low Council as Forgemaster of the Dwedmar by Grand King Torvin Grandaxe.
In Kal'Tarak, Koralon first assumed the position of Forgemaster once more to teach and guide Dwarves in the art of smithing, then ascended to the position of Prelate under the Brathmordakin Ogradhad to become part of the Dwarven clergy. Brol did not fancy this diversion into spiritualism, as he saw it, and left Kal’Tarak for Kaz’Ulrah.
Just after the migration to Atlas in 1641 the Irongut colonizers from the ancient Republic of Holm land on an archipelago of islands in the Western Bay of Atlas to found New Holm. New Holm could not sustain the growth it experienced so the dwarves moved inland to where a trading post had been established by Balek Irongut at the Whispering Crossroads in a mountain range known as the Silver Hills. The young Clan Father Dorin Irongut invoked the ancient rights bestowed upon him by the Holmiote Charter declaring the Consulary Republic of Khronheim, a reiteration of that ancient Republic of Holm.
1672 Koralon Onyxheart was elected as the 7th ruler of Kaz'Ulrah, the Dwarven Queen (disputed: last Grand Queen of Urguan) and a long-time Dwarven political figure promoting the presence of the Dark Dwarves. She re-shuffled the Kaz'Ulran High Council, replacing lethargic members with younger dwarves as well as defining specific council positions that had existed for some time, but solely on the Monarch's word. These reforms encouraged many to step up their involvement in the social, economic, and polltical areas of life in the Kingdom. Brol was pleased by Koralon’s return to proaction matters and returned to being one of many following her lead.
Profile
Brol Halmyn is my name. I am a dwedmar smith and engineer who has dedicated his life to achieving a reasonable level of perfection in everything I make.
I build for all.
Iron Honour Smithing Guild
I am a member of The Smithing Guild of the city of Kal'Nikaer in Axios, training there under Koralon
Engineering Guild
I became a member of The Engineering Guild when I realized two things: there was not much more to be learned at the Iron Honour and engineers worked on bigger projects than most smiths can conceive of, and bigger is better!
Forging of weapons
The skills of the Forge is not just about making personal weapons. Many famous weapons are possessions of the Irongut clan, like “Mourgil” the famed blade of Dwain I Irongut. I have trained in the techniques of forging, tempering, scraping, and grinding to make all sorts of weapons. I have travelled to Elvish lands and Orcish strongholds to learn their methods of working metal and imbuing tools and weapons with the essence of magic
Experience
Labourer during the construction of Kal’Karaad — 1491-1495
My father was able to get work for me on some of Balek Irongut’s big construction projects, cutting stone and hauling materials to the masons and metalworkers as they worked.
Travelling in Caras Eldar — 1495-1512
Learning the metal skills of the wood elves.
Became an Engineer — 1550-1562
introduced to engineering was invited to join the new Guild to apply smithing techniques to engineering problems. Invented both civil and military machines.
Travelling in San’Kala — 1563-1568
Learning the metal skills of the Orcs.
Iron Honour — 1571-1580
Followed Koralon to the Dwarven city of Kal’Nikaer to join her at the Iron Honour smithing guild. Studied under her, Kalviin, and Mafraedon Starbreaker. Applied these newly learned techniques to engineering problems that earned the guild and the workshops of the city a goodly fortune.
Independent Smith and contracting Engineer — 1642-present
Moved to Republic of Holm/ Kronheim to help in building the new home of the Dwarves.
