Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
She tensed up and took in the elderly woman, "Um... I-" She stuttered out, slowly, yet hesitantly sitting down on the floor with her knees. As she stared into the elderly woman's eyes, she didn't feel any malice and so, for the first time since she started her journey, she dropped her guard and decided to just let it out. Bit by bit.
"My name's Alara... I doubt my story will be of much interest to you, however... It's part of who I am." She smiled softy, staring at the old wood, despite it rotting away slowly, she simply felt nostalgic and compassionate about it. "I'm a wood elf, in case you couldn't tell." She nervously wiped her left hand on her neck. "My home forest is Vectra. So, I've come a long way. All this? Is a first for me. Even the dirt fascinates me, after all, before I left home to venture out, I had never touched the ground before."
She glanced at the lady, trying to decipher her mood, but continued her story, "You could call me childish in some ways, because there are simply so many new fascinating things and yet terrifying things. My mother told me I shouldn't permanently stay stuck in the forest, she told me to adventure and explore, like my father did before me... I never really got to meet him... I..." She wiped her eyes slowly, voice cracking slightly, "I'm simply so curious what all he had experienced." Forcing a small, yet tense, smile.
Then after a moment of recollecting herself, she glanced at the lady, asking hopefully: "Would you... Tell me your story too? Before I continue on this journey, with no real destination in mind?"
