Vardenn Shorsk was born a proud highlander, and hails from the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. Vardenn’s father Desmor Shorsk, and his mother, Kaitlyn Shorsk, were peasants born in a small rural town, away from any major cities. Vardenn’s father was a retired blacksmith, a strong brutish man, his mother, a housewife, a gentle and kind woman who fostered Vardenn’s love for the arts. Vardenn also had an older brother, Dayron who was 3 years older than him. At an early age, Vardenn was expected to carry his own weight within the family. He learned to hunt, and fish, and was tasked with common chores and gathering food and other necessities with his brother and father. When Vardenn was around 8, he was playing-fighting with some of his friends and his brother. He was tackled and landed awkwardly on his left arm, shattering his elbow badly. Vardenn was cared for by his mother, and was unable to work around the household for almost a year. After his elbow had healed his father insisted that he was to learn swordsmanship. Desmor Shorsk had always wanted his children to have a better future, he taught them many skills, including swordsmanship, which he had learned when he was a soldier for and urban militia in his youthful days, as to broaden the paths they could take in life. Right away Vardenn exhibited a passion for swordsmanship and loved fighting. His rather harsh and rough way of living made him strong and tough. Vardenn’s adolescence mainly consisted of his regular day to day life. He trained his swordsmanship everyday, but he was no master, far from it in fact. Vardenn’s older brother was to inherit the home his family lived in when his father passed, because of this Vardenn from an early age decided when he was old enough he would travel the Kingdom and make a name for himself. When Vardenn was 19 his father passed away. His life of rigorous work had taken a toll on his body and he passed at the ripe old age of 60. Vardenn’s brother, Dayron was now the man of the house, but much to his mother’s dismay, Dayron did not wish to inherit the house. Much like his brother, Daryon wished to travel not only the Kingdom, but the world, and make a name for himself. Vardenn began packing for his adventure, he thought that he may never see his house or his village after he set about on his journey. Vardenn had few possessions, his family were peasants after all. He said a heartfelt goodbye to his mother, and thanked her for everything she had ever done for him. Vardenn and Dayron had decided to leave on the same day but, travel separately. Before Vardenn left, much like he had done to his mother, Vardenn said a heartfelt goodbye to his brother, for all he knew he would never see him again. And with that, Vardenn set out on his journey.
