Elthea was born to a in a small village near the kingdom of Norland in the spring, to her mother and father, however her mother died in childbirth which left her father alone to raise her. Because of this, Elthea never learned things like sowing and cooking and other 'lady like' things. She preferred to spend her time with the other boys, learning how to fight and defend. Because of her small frame, she found it easy to do sneak attacks and dodge swings thrown at her. She also became very skilled with a bow and would often go hunting with the boys or with her father. Like, many of her fellow highlanders, she is very proud and hardy although her stubbornness is something she gets from her father. From a young age her father taught her the histories and culture of the Highlanders in particular the culture of the race, Hanseti of which his ancestors were once a part of. Her favorite were the stories of the Great-Northern War and when she was young she beg for stories about the gruesome battle rather than fairytales. However, even though the north is wild and has a history that one would only expect to find in stories, she constantly felt trapped in her small village and wanted to travel and explore the world around her. Her father promised that when she turned 18, he would let her go. However when she was just seventeen, her father fell very ill and she had to stay behind to take care of him. During this time he confessed to her that he had had an affair with a snow elf and that Elthea was in fact part elf. Her mother had not died in childbirth, she had left because she found out about the affair and as soon as the elf had given birth, Elthea's father had taken her to raise her in the northern highlands. He died four months after her 18th birthday and after spending time mourning him she left and began traveling south to find the snow elves to try and find her mother.
(Sorry if I got any of the history or locations wrong, it was quite confusing)
