In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: I avoid powergaming in roleplay by not creating an unrealistic character, sticking to what is realistic for my character, and not forcing actions upon others. For example, instead of saying „Gabriel attacks Fred“ saying „Gabriel tries to attack Fred.“ This gives the opposing player a chance to react, and do roleplay of their own.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by giving someone an unfair advantage or knowledge they should not know.
    Status: Accepted

Character Name: Gabriel
Character Race: Dark Elf
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 19
Physical Description: Gabriel is a jet-black skinned Dark Elf, white haired. About 5' 10," and wears dark clothes almost all the time. He has brown eyes.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"You see, ma'am, I am an explorer, I love finding out what the world has to offer along the way. I do not enjoy settling down for long. I never really had friends in my life, and my father left when I was young. Maybe in this section of the world I can find friends. Now, might you have anything to trade? Maybe some bread?“ *Gabriel says, friendly enough, but not too friendly.“

Changed Status to Under Review

Hi there! Your application has been put on pending as there are changes that need to be made before you can be accepted. See below.

  • Please review our Wiki’s definition of Powergaming. Your response is not quite right. Ensure to include an example of how you personally avoid powergaming in your response. If you're having a hard time writing something down/or don’t know how else to word it, contact a community member. If you need help, please feel free to reach out. https://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Metagaming_%26_Powergaming. You can also learn more about combat roleplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIJioVePKYo
  • Please make sure to include at least six sentences in your roleplay scenario! If you’re stumped on what to add. I recommend saying where you are from, how was it growing up? Maybe talk about your parents? Etc.
  • Please change your character’s actions to 3rd person. Example: Judy stomps her foot on the ground. “How dare you!” she screams.

If you do not make these changes within 48 hours,  you will be denied. When you are finished, please message me on Discord @cheese1sgrater to let me know, or if you don’t have Discord, send me a forum message, and please do ask if you have any questions.
