In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid 'powergaming' one must instead immerse themselves in the actions of realism. It is most times more fun to simply use words, or have equal exchanges with the person you might be role playing with. Impossible feats like playing god, make roleplaying with real people redundant and boring. It can be avoided by simply playing out what is/could be possible in a realistic scenario, which, in turn, gives the corresponding person to respond accordingly, allowing for a fair, and just roleplay between the participating parties.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: For instance, imagine you are an hour or two into a story arc that has thus far played out interestingly, leaving you, and the people around you, doing and saying things that progress the 'plot' of the 'story' thus far, without having any knowledge of the future. This, as I stated in the earlier question, is an example of playing to a realistic scenario thats within the bounds of a person's ability, thus making a roleplay not only more interesting, but more fair to the people immersed into the 'story' alongside you.

Character Name: Roman Levisay
Character Race: Human
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 22
Physical Description: Roman is a tall, roughly 6'3, 190 pound male with dark brown, short, messy hair. There is a long scar over his nose and under his yellowish eyes.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Example:

Roman immediately flashes a wide grin at her, nodding respectfully, before taking a seat across the cushion, not really using it correctly, clearly more interested in whatever this is than the cushion, "Well don't mind if I do, miss." He tells her, his eyes scanning across the coffee table, or what appears like one, that separates them, "I'm Roman, just a... well- a nobody, looking to make some money." He tells her with a small grin, leaning back onto his hands and blowing some air from his mouth to blow some hair away from his forehead, "I'm sort of like a mercenary... bounty hunter... you get the gist-- killing folks for cash." He murmurs, his mind clearly turning elsewhere, "Enough about me... do you got any food? I've been walking for days." He says, still grinning the entire time he speaks, less interested in talking, and far, far more interested in what sort of food this lady might have. "Was chasing this... this guy for miles." He says, tossing a worn out piece of paper onto the table, the paper furls in on itself, the content of the page hardly visible, "Lost my horse, started walking, found you!" He says, his then diminished grin now returning to form, "Grandma's make food, don't they? I'd pay!" He exclaims in a dumb, idiotic fashion, smiling like a fool, or a dog begging for scraps.
