As a kid, the other elves never took Laken seriously or listened to their voice, so they gave it up entirely and found their own joy. They took an interest in the art of making something out of basic materials. But most of all, they loved plants, and would always wander off to go experiment with them (getting poisoned many times). They read books and learned from other elves about different things like construction and blacksmithy, though their forte is botany. They've never taken an interest in combat, since they like to create and study, so they've always wanted to be a peaceful and helpful shop owner. Even without a voice, they communicate through text and action, which is the voice theyve found and chosen instead.
Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
They nervously wave hi. They point to their mouth, then gesture 'nada' with the same hand.
