Step by step, Austin sauntered through town with an arrogant gate that attracted attention far and wide. All who saw him couldn’t help but smile as he walked by, his demeanor exuding confidence to every onlooker. That day he wasn’t living as one of his intricate personas looking for a con to pull. No, that day he was Austin: the struggling writer, poet, and musician who simply wished to please. And with a performance happening that night he needed to prepare a song.
He found a quiet place in his favorite seaside bar, which has provided him many muses in the past years. He wrote vigorously, searching for his inspiration. Looking out to the cascading waters and wondering what lie across the great expanse that is the sea, he wrote down an impressionistic piece of the waves and their secrets and the chaos below the deep waters. And that night it was performed. As soon as it’s conception it was given life in the sprawling escapade that was this tavern. His notes gliding from his instrument, the bass and piano playing in perfect sync to the arrhythmic pattern that he had concocted. The Percussion beat away in a quiet non repeating rhythm and he played his cello in a chaotic accompaniment as the crescendo approached. The whole crowds eyes were locked onto theirs and from the stage he locked onto another.
Excitement and panic and a flutter of butterflies within guided the night through the crescendo and beyond. The blurry afterglow of the performance was always what he craved. Nothing could stop him. Not the law. Not anybody.
But when he sat at the end of his bed looking outward into the far away sky, he saw the mystic glow of the moon reflecting on the sea. A beckoning call for him to leave. To find something that he always craved. To search for what made it all real. Even the heart of the one who lay beside him could not fill that longing void within him.
And so he ran. The music in his head and his heart filling the air as he stepped towards the towering boats that would carry him away. To change himself. To change everything! It gave him inspiration. His tiny feet puttering against the ground towards the dock, where many were gathered to prepare for the morning voyage. He had no mind to pay for passage, but all the skill to steal passage. He snuck onto the boat in his excitement, ready for the voyage. He was there. He was going to do it. He was going on an adventure.
The boat set sail that morning towards his next muse and as it did, he played a song from below. Slow and melodic he trilled away on a small flute built to his size. The music echoed through the cabin as the ship glided into the horizon.
Bio:
Austin Harris was born in Dunshire. As he came of age he found that he did not care for the farming life his parents had lead, so he fled with his lover to Sutica to become a musical performer, seeing how there has been a lack of inovative musical talent there. After some time there he found a regular spot to play in a tavern by the Iris Wharf. During his time there he was rarely able to keep a stable income with only his performances, so he took to gambling and borrowing money to pay for his lifestyle. It wasn’t long until the debtors came to collect and, when he had nothing to pay, they kidnapped him and his lover to be sold in an underground slaving market. He was carted off into the man land, but managed to escape and now he searches for both his lost lover and revenge.
