Wilhelm was an infant found in the depths of a mine alone by the man he calls his father who was an older gentleman, brought Wilhelm back to his home in Sutica. Wilhelm kept to himself most of the time but did say hi to dwarfs who came to sell their wares in the city, first learning of the grand kingdom of Urguan by one of the dwarf smiths who passed through.
Wilhelm didn't enjoy smithing until he was a Dwarfling, Apprenticing under a smith as soon as he could and starting out by gathering supplies. His first weapon made was a dagger after a few years of transporting supplies. He gained skill quickly and started to make more and more complex armor and weapons, making a halberd for his father, gaining the surname Hammerdeep near after because of his skill with a hammer. He started working for the smith who was becoming old, as well as his father.
When Wilhelm hit the age of 40 the Dwarf / Human war broke out, business was dropping from his human customers but some kept buying from him, a large number of dwarven customers came seemingly out of nowhere prompting Wilhelm to ask what was happening and learned of the war. People tried stealing from him in those 3 months, hoping to stop dwarves from getting armor and weapons but to no avail.
A few years after becoming a Shortbeard his father died and then his master, both of old age. Wilhelm stayed in the city for around 35 years, making a living off of smithing. Wilhelm then sold his home and most of his things. With a backpack that had his smithing supplies, some metal ingots and food and the halberd he made for his father in his hand Wilhelm left for the cloud temple to gather things he couldn't in Sutica.
The dwarf held up a hand and leaned over the railing, vomiting before turning back to the man. Wiping off his beard as he did. “Sorry, not used to sea travel. Here for adventure personally but I heard you had good drinks here as well so that's a bonus. Mind pointing me to the tavern and giving me a recommendation?”
