In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you take information you hear/see outside of the game(out of what your character would actually see, hear, feel, etc.) and use that knowledge in game to benifit yourself/others. (This is so annoying in D&D and Shadowrun.)
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Power-emoting......Power-emoting is when you get a little carried away and deside to self narate EVERYTHING around you so your character wins or your character seems over powered. -I do this awesome thing and you couldn't stop me because I was so fast- is

"Do you want to know about me? My name and whatever else I can tell you? ...Seems odd... Very well, I hope this will do...
My birth name is Eirthyra, 5'5, a female, clearly... I was born on the 2nd of The Sun's Smile in the 1594th year of this world. Which makes me 59, just barely an adult to most elves. Believe it or not, I was born with deep almost blood red hair. I had the same warm caramel skin and striking sky blue eyes, of course. As I grew my mother began dying my hair green like hers and I have kept my hair green as a memento to her since... I started training at the age of 15 under my mother to perfect my skills of herbalism, banner embroidery, and Heraldry. My people were calm; peaceful scribes and seekers of knowledge, the like. One of my seed claimed even to have found the secrets to the druidic words lost to our people eons ago. Though they refused to share it with anyone in the Seed. This claim would be the undoing of us all. My mother, home, and seed all lost to me in small wars between other neighboring seeds. I ran away during one raid, upon the orders of my mother and only looked back once to see flames reaching up to the sky. I hid in the darkest parts of the wood, forgetting most of my designing skills in favor of learning and mastering the harmful effects of potions to protect myself. I had spent just under 18 years alone in the treetops till finally going back to the place I called home still. It was gone...Even though so much destruction had occurred nature had made it beautiful again. I suppose that was the sign I had been looking for. I wandered through the crumbled ivy-covered remains, flowers in bloom, and knew it was time for me to move on. I had heard of Atlas from passersby on trials so, I headed towards it in search of a new home and perhaps with it a new Seed. My social skills more than lacking after the 19 years of solitude, if you couldn't already tell, and my fighting skills even worse for wear. My year-long travel has left me with no armor, not even a wooden sword to protect myself but I've made it here, finally, in Atlas. I hope that the Mali'ame here will welcome me.
