Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
There is a moment of tense silence as you cautiously sit by the woman, then you ask, "How do you know me?"
The hag gives you a knowing look, and you begin your story, "I left home a few seasons ago, to find... someone who could grow to understand me, for the rest of our long lives. And I'm still looking for them. But recently I heard news of a fire back home, and so I'm here. Looking to find somewhere to settle down, so if I ever see my parents again..." You stop and turn away from the hag, taking deep breaths to fight back tears. When you regain your composure the hag smiles at you and offers you a place to stay for the night. You nod, "Yes, thank you. I best go and unpack."
