Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Example: Iruksi sits down, seemingly bothered, and rocks the back legs of the chair as she exclaims "You humans and your stories, it is aggravating but I will indulge you JUST once. I have been searching for answers, yet, I am not quite sure for what questions." Iruski continues, explaining how she is a seeker of knowledge, a highly educated and driven elf. She softens her voice, her gaze flowing downwards, the chair once again settled on all fours. "I am frightened, of this world, of the evil, of an unforgiving ending. I must search to explain it all, there are too many questions. I cannot be stuck in my small city no longer!" She continues on, seemingly more assertive, telling you of her family, how they were overbearing. How they continued to assert that they had all the answers, and that the answers they did no possess boiled down to trusting in their religious deity. "the world is bigger than my city, than the purity of elves, I must find learn about everything I can. I will die on a mound of grimoires and books, rather than in a casket decorated for a deity." Iruski has no abandoned her people, as much as she has sought to become a scholar among them all. She relaxes once again, her gaze drifting up, a smirk on her face, and the chair back on its hind legs as she says, quite confidently "anything else? or have I sated your hunger, human?"
