Raymond emigrated to an inner-city area with his parents of Raevir descent over ten years ago, and had always dreamed of being a cook’s apprentice or an innkeeper at a local tavern. He always helped his parents with cooking and cleaning, and came to be quite the skillful caretaker for his parents in their old age. He’s monolingual and has been since an early age, which isn’t at all surprising considering his simple family. His mother and father were Ruskan Orthodox, though he had never caught onto the religion. His father had even taught him how to read to his best ability, as he worked in a bakery across town and often had to be able to read orders, passing the essential skill onto his son. Sadly, his parents passed away as soon as he hit nineteen due to an awful sickness that Raymond had managed to avoid. Due to this, he lost his family’s property as he had been unable to acquire a job at that point and as such was unable to pay for the house, and now he wanders the streets of cities asking around for jobs and checking local post-boards to look for any way to keep himself going financially. The only thing he has going for him, though, is his cooking and cleaning abilities, as he isn’t strong enough to enlist in mercenary or guard work, but could carry a good few pounds if a job required him to do so. Often he is found sitting on street corners asking passerbys for work suggestions or small jobs in exchange for money or food, though will never stay the night in a stranger’s home, no matter the weather. He learned this the hard way when he was once lost in a bazaar when separated from his mother and a stranger offered to help him, but he ended up in an unfamiliar place which he had to run from quickly, though he was only about twelve at the time and nearly didn’t make it. Thankfully, he found his mother quite quickly and they promptly returned home. To this day, he does his best to be friendly, but at the first sign of something suspicious, his guard is up.
