Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
He hadn't expected anyone to notice him. As a wandering knight, he had learned how to move through the world unnoticed, like a shadow passing through villages and towns, until something in this town--It's very presence... He felt as if it was waiting for him. An old lady, watching him from afar, as if she was observing his movements. She approached the knight. She didn't speak right away. Instead, her eyes were fixed on him, as if studying she was studying his face. She spoke "Ah, it's you. I've been expecting you." Her words caught him off guard. He who had crossed many lands before, fought countless battles, and stood against thieves, assassins, and before Kings. Yet this woman- in this old hag in a swamp.. spoke as if she knew him. "As if I had been in this place before." He asked himself. She asked him "Tell me your story" -He hesitated... as he was lowering himself slowly to the cushion but soon did as she asked.. For her request was no easy answer, and his story was long and full of many roads and battles. He spoke, "I traveled alone through numerous paths and lands that I had nearly forgotten my homeland... I started- He said steadily, "I am a knight," even though the words didn't feel natural in this weird setting. "I move from town to town in search of..." He has no idea what it is. "Maybe peace. or something to put an end to my restless want."
