    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: using information that the character did not get in roleplay and there for should not know to do actions that they should not be doing because they should not no that they need to do said action.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: making your character do actions that other people cant do anything about such as saying I cut someone's head off vs I attempt to swing at his head.

my character would close the book he was reading and say "i beg your pardon.". then the well dressed man would ask again and he would say i am here for adventure and the chance to make the world a safer and nicer place, as he is saying this he would turn back to his book and continue walking down the street.
