In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It's when your character knows something that they reeeeally shouldn't actually know. It's having a character in-roleplay know information that the player knows. Sort of breaking into dramatic irony in a sense that both of you know what will happen or wha
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: This one is more simple. Sometimes referred to as godmodding, it's when a character auto-hits, as in emoting explicitly that an arrow hits, a punch lands, or a kick makes contact with the opponent when the opponent doesn't have a chance to emote back to i

Marc is a man individualized by the time he spent at war alongside the Dreadlanders. Decorated by the usual characteristic scars of war-- scabs rest unhealed upon his chest and gashes line his arms-- he has prominent markings upon his eye, a deep wound carved there by a warrior of Sigismund's Guard. This marking has rendered him blind. Otherwise his black mottled hair has been tied into braids on either side of his head to keep them form interfering with his vision, a scraggly black beard falling from his chin. Though youthful, it is safe to assume that he had seen much of the world long ago.

Born into a poor farming family, Marc sought the life of a warrior through training against hay dummies in the crop, brandishing sticks from nearby woodlands to practice and hone his own craft. Balancing his life of farming and swordplay became hard, and his father saw fit to send a young heart-sturdy male to the army to see if they could roughen him up, and hopefully discourage him from leaving the farm again. However, the brutish and albeit unromanticized view of war came to Marc with a flood of crimson tides, and brought a grin to the young, impressionable soldier. The mental scarring Marc's father wished to seer into his son's mind had instead created a palace of new ideas and war-savvy. Marc quickly rose higher through the ranks of the army, gaining his reputation as a war-hawk, craving battle. His motto to his small group of soldiers was always: "Kill first. If they survive, ask questions.

His goals shifted from simply wanting war to deciding that war was a gifted plane from which the most powerful could rise. The worthless could find their worth in battle; poor become rich; the embryonic nation could be skyrocketed into technological advancements unprecedented in its society. Hence, he became a fiercer herald of wartime, marching into villages shamelessly, wishing to bring about war that would hopefully bring about societal change where he stepped. He saw his work as a charity, a blessing, even. He decided the world would be far better off in war, so that it could grow and develop faster.

[ Since I have little knowledge of the server, I focused down on one group! I hope I'm not out of date with Dreadlanders and whatnot, or if it's considered powergaming. I hope this isn't going to be my official character ?

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

"Oh, I just, uh…" The traveler stutters, tensing up. They eye the crone, then back outside the shack. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

Upon review, your application has been accepted! Welcome to Lord of the Craft! There was only one mistake, though due to how well the rest of it shaped up to be, I'm not going to punish you for it. Your Interesting Facts section should have at least one fault, so think about that while you play. It'll make your character a little more realistic and fun to play. Anyhow, I hope you have fun during your stay on LotC and I hope if you need anything you aren't afraid to reach out to myself or another member of the Application Team, as we're here to help. I also highly recommend joining our New Player Discord, as it's a great way to find some friends or a place you and your character can belong on the server. I hope to see you around, boss!
