    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: The act of powergaming can be almost impossible to avoid due to people having their characters be stronger or more clever in some way. But, I have a few ways I'm able to avoid this occurrence and have a smooth roleplay without anyone getting angry. First, in any roleplay I try to choose characters that don't have any powers to extra strength that might've been in their lore. Even if I do pick a character like that, I'll get a rid of any powers like that. Next I'll try to balance my character out with another character during roleplay so my character isn't instantly above another. Since most powergaming is based on combat, I also try to pick skills that have less to do with physical strength and have their skills go somewhere else. I'd also love to learn more about avoiding powergaming and wouldn't mind learning about it more.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Even though everyone has a the power to metagame during roleplay, it's disrupting and annoying when it occurs. This is because the character you play as isn't supposed to be aware of hidden information unless their a god or something. If someone uses this information against another during roleplay, it makes the situation unfair and possibly the roleplay would have to pause just to clear something up. Metagaming shouldn't ever occur and everyone should stay in character no matter what knowledge they know that their character doesn't know.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Volition hit her head as she ducked into the tent, whispering a small 'ow' before her eyes widened at the magic. She was about to reach for it, her eyes sparkling as if she hadn't seen the same witchcraft over and over again. She yanked her hand away when she noticed the old woman, dipping her head in respect. 

 "Dingy isn't the right word... Maybe cozy?" she whispered to herself, her eyes widening as the woman seemed to expect her. She tilted her head, glancing at the cushion she offered.

 "I wasn't planning on staying long." she raised her hands up innocently, "I was just." she trailed off, looking at how the old woman seemed to expect her to eventually sit down no matter what she tried to say. She let out a small sigh before sliding into the chair, flashing a small smirk.

 "You won't like what you hear," she glanced up, feeling almost comforted by the woman's smile, "fine, on with it then..."
