Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

His expression becomes more serious as he takes in his surroundings. He touches the wooden table nearby, analyzing its texture. I thought this would be a good idea... I just wanted new merchandise. But look at the city I'm in now.
"Uh, well, I'm a young merchant. I was looking for new opportunities..." he hesitates, eyeing the strange woman. "I wanted to stand out, to be remembered. But—who are you? What do you want from me?"
He asks with measured curiosity, unsure whether to trust her words but intrigued nonetheless.
Takes a deep breath, it's just a witch, maybe it's something to fear... but he had already survived a big challenge.
The witch lights a torch.
"Why don't you see for yourself? Does this remind you of something?"
That fire... Gustave starts having memories.
It was a shining day, as almost always, in a very faraway village, isolated from the world with no contact. He was happy there. He was a poor merchant, but satisfied. He knew every person there, and they formed a good community. However, outside the village, there was a great sea, but also a dangerous forest.
One day, one of the inhabitants went fishing and saw a group in the forest. The Wilds, an independent group that survived by what nature gave. To avoid being killed, the person opened the gates, and the Wilds invaded, burning and stealing everything.
Gustave was one of the very few survivors. He took a ship when it was all burning down, very sad, feeling unable to do something, and seeing his home being destroyed entirely. Then he spent many days at sea, landing in some places to get food. One day, he acquired a map and decided to go to a kingdom neither near nor very far.
